Walkers

Are you wondering when Carl dies in The Walking Dead? The award-winning show has been on since 2010 and will have 177 episodes by its concluding season. Unfortunately, during its 11-season run, there have been countless deaths of minor and major characters, so it may be hard to remember how and when Carl died. Nevertheless, here is everything you need to know about Carl’s death in The Walking Dead and its impact on the series.

When Does Carl Die in the Walking Dead?

Carl dies during episode 9, which is season 8’s midseason premiere. “Honor,” one of the best episodes in the series, aired on February 25, 2018. This episode is the last appearance of Chandler Riggs as Carl Grimes in the series. It was directed by Greg Nicotero, one of the series’s most popular directors.

How Does Carl Die in The Walking Dead?

In “Honor,” we see in a flashback that Carl was bitten by a walker when he and Siddiq fought off an attack in the wood. Carl slowly deteriorates due to his bite but never lets this change his attitude and outlook. He wrote sad but mature letters to characters like Rick, Michonne, Negan, and Judith that will continue to impact their lives in a positive light for years to come. Ultimately, Carl decided to take his own life, so his loved ones didn’t have to. While his death may impact Rick and Michonne forever, he at least spared them this horrific action.

What Impact Does Carl’s Death Have in The Walking Dead?

Carl always got a bad rap for being a bratty kid that offered nothing to the series, but we’d be hard-pressed to find a better adult. Carl was often the voice of reason in a world filled with adults who, quite honestly, never made the right choices. He took on way more responsibility than a kid his age should ever have to, and he did it with style. He sacrificed his mind and body during his time in The Walking Dead. Protecting his group, ensuring a loved one didn’t turn into a walker, and sparing those around him the burden of death by killing himself are just a few examples of his courageous actions. He was why countless lives were saved and changed how his father viewed the world.

RIP to one of the most remarkable characters in the series. Tip your hat and practice your best meme CARL! in his honor… CARL!

The eleventh season of The Walking Dead is currently airing on AMC.

Does Nezuko Ever Become Human Again in Demon Slayer? Explained https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/does-nezuko-ever-become-human-again-in-demon-slayer-explained/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/does-nezuko-ever-become-human-again-in-demon-slayer-explained/#respond Tue, 15 Nov 2022 23:20:56 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=872959
Nezuko-Human

One of the main driving factors for Tanjiro, the main protagonist in Demon Slayer, is to turn Nezuko, his demon sister, back into a human. In the first few episodes of Demon Slayer, we see Nezuko get turned into a demon, but a demon that recognizes and protects her brother and friends. As turning Nezuko back into her human form is central to the plot, will Nezuko ever become a human again?

When Will Nezuko Become Human in Demon Slayer

At the beginning of Demon Slayer, Nezuko is turned into a demon by Muzan Kibutsuji, the king of the demons. During the first season of Demon Slayer, Tanjiro and Nezuko meet Tamayo, a demon that is trying to develop a cure to revert demons back to their human form.

After meeting Tamayo, Tanjiro is tasked with collecting powerful demon’s blood to help with the research Tamayo needs for her cure. Though the last arc to get an anime was the Entertainment District Arc, the Demon Slayer manga is much further along and does contain spoilers for people who aren’t reading and only watching.

So far in the anime, Nezuko has not returned to her human form. However, in the Demon Slayer manga, in the Infinity Castle Arc, Nezuko does turn back into a human thanks to Tamayo’s cure. In Chapters 200 and 201 in the Demon Slayer manga, Nezuko is seen transforming back into a human.

An interesting thought to consider is whether or not Nezuko will want to be transformed back into a human. Because Nezuko has supernatural demon powers that allow her to be immortal, shapeshift, be ageless, and gain incredible strength, it will be interesting to see if Nezuko will want to turn back into a human. If she is able to control her demonic form, she may want to stay that way forever.

The best way to experience Nezuko’s character arc is to either read the manga or wait for the Demon Slayer anime to catch up.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba is available to watch on Crunchyroll, Funimation, Hulu, and Netflix.

How Old is Nezuko in Demon Slayer? Nezuko Age in All Seasons https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/how-old-is-nezuko-in-demon-slayer-nezuko-age-in-all-seasons/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/how-old-is-nezuko-in-demon-slayer-nezuko-age-in-all-seasons/#respond Tue, 15 Nov 2022 22:30:37 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=872938
How-Old-is-Nezuko-in-Demon-Slayer

Nezuko is the sister of Tanjiro, the main protagonist in Demon Slayer: Kimestsu No Yaiba, and her age is something of a debate. Based on what we learn in the first episode of the series, Nezuko is transformed into a demon which is a driving factor of Tanjiro’s main objective: to find the king of the demons and get them to turn Nezuko back to human form. Because of Nezuko’s demonic form, her age can get a bit complicated in Demon Slayer.

How Old is Nezuko in Demon Slayer, Explained

If you are watching Demon Slayer in chronological order, Season 1 shows Nezuko at age 12. When the tragic events in the first few episodes of Demon Slayer Season 1 occur, we see Nezuko at age 12. The last living members of Tanjiro’s family are himself and technically Nezuko.

This is where things get complicated. Demons are neither dead nor alive. Because of that, Demons don’t experience age. Therefore, while Nezuko may be experiencing the passage of time, because she is a demon, she doesn’t physically age.

When Nezuko sleeps and Tanjiro trains near the end of Season 1, two years pass. This means that Tanjiro ages two years and Nezuko ages two years. So, Nezuko is technically 14 years old, but her body will always remain stuck at 12 years old as long as she is a demon.

One thing that makes Nezuko’s age confusing is the fact that her physical body can shrink and grow. To fit in Tanjiro’s box backpack, Nezuko’s body shrinks to fit and to weigh less. In combat, Nezuko’s body grows and becomes more muscular. Though it may be confusing, her shapeshifting powers are the result of her demonic powers, not anything to do with her age.

Throughout the Mugen Train Arc and the Entertainment District Arc, Nezuko stays at the age of 14 because the general plot line doesn’t expand over years. Though more arcs are written in the manga that are yet to make it to anime just yet, the current age of Nezuko in Demon Slayer is 14.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba is available to watch on Crunchyroll, Funimation, Hulu, and Netflix.

the-walking-dead-season-11-key-art-background-1920x880-1

Are you wondering if there will be a Season 12 of The Walking Dead? The awarding winning show has been on television since 2010. It is hard to imagine not having the series to follow after being invested in the characters’ lives for so long. We have felt like group members and learned how to navigate a zombie apocalypse should one arise in real life. One can hope, right? Here is everything we know about The Walking Dead season 12.

Will The Walking Dead have a Season 12?

Unfortunately, there will not be season 12 of The Walking Dead. AMC announced in 2020 that The Walking Dead would end with Season 11. The final season will consist of 24 episodes, with the series finale airing on November 20, 2022, on AMC.

The Walking Dead was not canceled. Instead, the showrunners felt season 11 was the best place to end the main series. While this is a sad development, we were treated to some of the best episodes in television history that we won’t soon forget.

What’s Next for The Walking Dead?

Don’t be too sad about the main series ending as you will be treated to three additional spin-offs featuring your favorite characters. The following three spin-offs have been officially announced and are currently in development:

  • The Walking Dead: Dead City: Maggie and Negan head to the Big Apple for even more zombie fun. Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are set to reprise their roles.
  • Daryl Dixon: This untitled spin-off will focus entirely on Daryl as he is dropped into Paris, France. We can only imagine his personality clashing with those in Paris will result in great TV. Norman Reedus is set to reprise his role as Daryl.
  • Rick Grimes and Michonne: This untitled spin-off will be a limited-run series set after the events of Season 9. We are excited to continue Rick and MIchonne’s story. Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira are set to reprise their roles.

If you can’t wait for any of the new projects, then catch up on the other The Walking Dead spin-offs that offer plenty of zombie action:

  • Fear The Walking Dead
  • Tales of the Walking Dead
  • The Walk Dead: World Beyond

The eleventh season of The Walking Dead is currently airing on AMC.

The-Walking-Dead

Are you wondering what the best The Walking Dead episodes of all time are? The Walking Dead television show was created by Frank Darabont and is based on the hit graphic novels of the same name by Robert Kirkman. The show has been around since 2010 and will end in 2022 with 177 episodes. It has won 2 Primetime Emmy awards, 80 additional awards, and 234 nominations. The Series Finale will air on November 20, 2022, after an incredible 11 seasons. In honor of the zombie television show we’ve watched for over a decade, here are the best The Walking Dead episodes of all time, ranked.

The Best Walking Dead Episodes of all Time

There are so many amazing episodes to choose from, 177, in fact. So we have narrowed down the best the Walking Dead episodes of all time to 10. Each entry will have a brief synopsis of the episode and why it is so good compared to other episodes.

Conquer

Conquer

Description: Daryl and Aaron run into Morgan. Alexandria decides the fate of Rick as a new danger appears.

Why It’s Good

“Conquer” has a handful of powerful scenes that tie up the season’s storylines and provide a shocking ending to Season Five. All of the actors brought their A-game in this episode. We also see the return of fan-favorite Morgan Jones, played by Lennie James.

JSS

JSS

Description: Alexandria comes under attack by the Wolves. Rick and his group try to lure the herd away while Carol and Morgan defend Alexandria.

Why It’s Good

The intense battle in Alexandria with the Wolves is one of the most intense sequences of the entire series. JSS also raises a few philosophical questions that have everyone questioning their motives and actions in the messed-up world they live in. This episode made Carol a lot of viewers’ favorite character of the series, which has been held to this day.

Thank You

Thank-You

Description: Half of the herd is now out of control. Glenn and Michonne lead Nicholas and their group back to Alexandria while Rick runs into survivor members of the Wolves.

Why It’s Good

The threat of zombies was finally brought back to the forefront… it is a zombie show, right? The episode’s dumpster scene was the highlight, which led to many sleepless, wondering nights for the show’s viewers, much to the ire of the then-showrunner Scott M. Gimple.

Too Far Gone

Too-Far-Gone

Description: Rick and the group face imminent danger as The Governor tries to take the prison.

Why It’s Good

The 24-episode arc featuring the Governor comes to a close… finally. As with everything else in the Walking Dead universe, it does so at a price, as we also lost three main characters, one of which stung a lot.

What Comes After

What-Comes-After

Description: Rick is forced to face the past as he struggles to maintain the safety of the communities and protect the future he and Carl envisioned.

Why It’s Good

We bid farewell to one of the series’ original characters as the series begins its new story arc. We also got a bunch of fun cameos and callbacks to boot. What an enjoyable and emotional way to say goodbye.

Killer Within

The-Killer-WIthin-2012

Description: The prison comes under attack as Lori goes into labor. Michonne tries to get Andrea to leave Woodbury.

Why It’s Good

The Killer Within is one of those defining moments for a character, and this one happens to both Rick and Carl. In addition, the episode features the birth of another important character who plays a prominent role later in the series. The emotions portrayed by the actors (often harshly critiqued) were powerful in this episode, making it the best The Walking Dead episode to truly see the character’s emotions come to life.

The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be

The-Day-Will-Come-When-You-Wont-Be-2016

Description: Having been brutally overpowered by Negan and his Saviors, Rick and the group kneel helplessly as they suffer heavy losses that will haunt them forever.

Why It’s Good

This episode will also haunt all viewers because of the intense loss we suffered at the hands of Negan due to the group’s unwillingness to submit. In addition, the brutality of this episode caused the showrunners to tame down gruesome scenes in future episodes due to negative feedback.

No Sanctuary

No-Sanctuary-2014

Description: Carol takes drastic action to rescue Rick, and the group from the cannibals of Terminus as she and Tyreese reach the Compound. However, a familiar face makes a return.

Why It’s Good

“No Sanctuary” was the season premiere for Season 5. It brought a lot of emotion, explosions, and intensity, setting the tone for the remainder of the season. This episode was watched by 17.3 million people, breaking the record for the most-watched non-sports cable broadcast in TV history, making it not on one of The Walking Dead‘s best episodes but the most watched.

The Calm Before

The-Calm-Before-2019

Description: The four communities come together in celebration at the Kingdom’s fair, but while some pacts are renewed, others come at a much steeper price.

Why It’s Good

“The Calm Before” was the final episode of season nine, and we must say goodbye to two of our favorite season recurring characters. The events are a modified version of the gang’s encounter with Alpha and the Whisperer army from Robert Kirman and Charlie Adlard. This best The Walking Dead episode showcases how TV writers can end a season… brutally. But, unfortunately, this sets up the series for a much bigger war.

No Way Out

No-Way-Out

Description: Daryl, Sasha, and Abraham face off against the Saviors. Then, Rick and his group finally make their way through the herd at Alexandria.

Why It’s Good

“No Way Out” was the mid-season premier episode for season 6. It is considered The Walking Dead’s best episode ever, with a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. The pace of the episodes is intense, albeit a bit slow, but the end is very action-packed and gruesome, making the payoff worth it.

The eleventh season of The Walking Dead is currently airing on AMC.

Ironheart Series: Release Date, Cast, and Everything We Know https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/ironheart-series-release-date-cast-and-everything-we-know/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/ironheart-series-release-date-cast-and-everything-we-know/#respond Mon, 14 Nov 2022 19:16:39 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=872250
Ironheart-series-Release-Date-1
Ironheart will be a new MCU live-action streaming series!

Ironheart has already arrived in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as of this weekend’s release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but this is far from the only appearance she will make. Riri Williams, the prodigious MIT student capable of discovering secrets unbeknownst even to Wakanda, will receive a series of her own on Disney Plus. Aside from the general excitement, MCU fans may have over yet another series to chew on, there’s a lot of superb info about Ironheart and its cast that’ll get even the casual viewers or Marvel comic readers interested when its release date approaches.

Ironheart on Disney Plus: Release Date

Ironheart is currently slated for a late 2023 release date. The specifics are not known beyond that rough time frame, but the live-action series will have 6 episodes, the first 3 directed by Sam Bailey, and the last 3 directed by Angela Barnes. If you’re hoping to see the character, however, you’ll be pleased to know she has substantial screen time in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and you should watch the movie regardless because it’s the best MCU offering of 2022!

Ironheart on Disney Plus: Cast

Ironheart will have Dominique Thorn reprise her role as Riri Williams aka Ironheart for the series and will feature some familiar names in the cast and some fairly well-established talent from stage, film, and TV. The full cast list so far is below:

  • Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams / Ironheart
  • Anthony Ramos as Parker Robbins / The Hood
  • Jim Rash as Dean of MIT
  • Lyric Ross
  • Manny Montana
  • Alden Ehrenreich
  • Zoe Terakes
  • Harper Anthony
  • Cree Summer
  • Paul Calderón
  • Shakira Barrera
  • Jaren Merrell
  • Regan Aliyah
  • Sonia Denis
  • Rashida Olayiwola
  • Shea Couleé

Additionally, multiple outlets are reporting Sacha Baron Cohen’s debut in the MCU as Mephisto, the long-demanded villain. His role in the series is uncertain as of now, but he will likely be tied closely with Parker Robbins for the plot, possibly a retcon for how he got his Hood abilities in the place of Dormammu. The Hood will have his role expand into other Marvel projects beyond Ironheart, similarly to how Jonathan Majors has taken on his Kang role in Loki and beyond.

But most importantly, Riri Williams looks to differentiate herself and stand out as a hero in the MCU, as opposed to a derivative of Tony Stark. She is building a suit that she claims to be iconic, to which Parker Robbins responds with skepticism, asking what questionable things she will have to do to reach such a milestone. Her answer is simple: to be Tony Stark, but better, and to be fair, she has time on her side to do it.

Why You Should Be Excited for Ironheart

Ironheart could very well be a smaller Marvel miniseries, but it boasts a pretty strong cast, a charismatic and fun portrayal of its protagonist by Thorne, and some of the coolest villains yet to appear in the MCU. Aside from that, however, there are plenty of things to speculate about. If Mephisto is in the series, how much screen time will he have? And if Jim Rash reprises his role of dean of MIT, is it too much of a pipe dream for him to don the peanut bar suit and do another freestyle apology rap? There are far too many questions for now, but rest assured, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for this series.

Ironheart will release on Disney Plus in late 2023. You can also see the character’s debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, released in theaters worldwide on November 11, 2022.

Dragon-Age-Absolution-Release
Dragon Age Absolution will release very soon on Netflix.

Dragon Age: Absolution is another adventure in BioWare’s Dragon Age continuity, but with a twist: it’s an animated series coming to Netflix! The show is full of style and fun characters who embark on a dangerous quest to steal the Circulum Infinatus, an artifact fueled by blood magic. But for those eager to see this journey soon, you might be wondering when Dragon Age: Absolution will release, and other key information, so we’re here to help.

Dragon Age: Absolution | Release Date

Dragon Age: Absolution will release its first 6-episode season on Netflix on December 9, 2022. The show will dive into the world of the Dragon Age franchise with a stunning anime style similar to how The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf or Castlevania have been handled. It’s all part of an encouraging trend of animated adaptations of fantasy stories, particular games, with great results, and this looks like no exception. With a brief 6-episode runtime, fans will surely be pleased, especially if they have to wait much longer for Dreadwolf, the latest game in the series, to release.

DA: Absolution | Cast

Dragon-Age-Absolution-Cast

Dragon Age: Absolution looks to have a band of misfits at the core of its cast, offered the quest to retrieve the dangerous artifact sought after by deadly pursuers. The series was created by Mairghread Scott, writer of 2020’s Justice League Dark: Apokolips War and has been produced in close cooperation with the game series’ creative team. The current latest cast of voice actors is listed below:

  • Matthew Mercer as Fairbanks
  • Ashly Burch as Qwydion
  • Phil LaMarr as Roland
  • Josh Keaton as Rezaren
  • Keston John as Lacklon
  • Kimberly Brooks as Miriam
  • Sumalee Montano as Hira
  • Zehra Fazal as Tassia

The characters appear to be in over their heads, and appear to follow the typical base classes of Dragon Age: 3 experienced Fighters, 2 Mages, and possibly a Rogue. The artifact they’re after is fueled by blood magic, which essentially means blood must be sacrificed for this discipline of magic to even be used. It is a recurring element found in the Dragon Age series, so it’ll be exciting to see it brought to life in this show!

Dragon Age: Absolution will release on Netflix on December 9, 2022.

Witcher-Blood-Origin-Release-Date
The Witcher: Blood Origin will release soon on Netflix.

The Witcher: Blood Origin is an upcoming prequel miniseries to The Witcher on Netflix and it appears to have a stellar cast and a fun premise for dark fantasy fans. The original Witcher series on Netflix was so popular that it inspired a massive surge of popularity for the video games and original novels that inspired it. But the release of Blood Origin draws near, and fans might be curious just how soon they’ll get to sink their teeth into this new Witcher lore, and how it ties into the canon.

The Witcher: Blood Origin | Release Date

The Witcher: Blood Origin will release on Netflix on December 25, 2022. It will consist of 4 episodes (down from a previously announced 6) and is a self-contained prequel to tell the story of the first Witcher’s creation. In addition to this story, we also see key events of Witcher lore playing out, with the cataclysmic “Conjunction of the Spheres” that collided realms and mixed creatures from different worlds into others including The Continent.

The series will also depict the Elves before the collapse of their civilization, and takes place 1,200 years before the events of The Witcher. This prequel is not season 3 of the pre-existing series, as we’ll still be getting one more full season of Henry Cavill as Geralt.

How Many End Credit Scenes Are in Wakanda Forever? https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/how-many-end-credit-scenes-are-in-wakanda-forever/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/how-many-end-credit-scenes-are-in-wakanda-forever/#respond Fri, 11 Nov 2022 12:01:39 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=871490
Black-Panther-Wakanda-Forever-End-Credits
Just how many end credit scenes are in Wakanda Forever?

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is out now and it’s another fun MCU offering that approaches the same level of quality as the film’s predecessor, 2018’s Black Panther. This time, the stakes are raised for Wakanda as they enter a period of tension with the secret undersea realm of Talokan, and we see this conflict unfold throughout the film. But with such an intense plot, viewers might be wondering how this affects the greater MCU, and whether this spills over into any end credit scenes in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever End Credit Scenes: Do You Need to Stay to the End?

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever only has one mid-credits scene so you won’t need to stay until the end of the credits beyond that. It’s a lengthy, emotional one that we touch upon, dealing with some loose ends for one of the film’s supporting characters. The scene runs several minutes, and instead of teasing future projects per se, it’s a loving tribute to the character T’Challa and the legacy left behind by portraying actor Chadwick Boseman.

Why You Don’t Have to Stay Past the Mid-Credits Scene

Black-Panther-Namor

Wakanda Forever certainly teases more on the horizon for its Wakandan cast as well as Namor and the people of Talokan, but it is all covered before the credits roll. It’s an exciting time for fans of enormous, classic characters like Namor the Submariner who finally get to see him appear in a mainline MCU film. Other characters like Riri Williams, aka Ironheart, make an appearance in the film before her own upcoming Disney Plus series.

There’s plenty to be excited for, and the MCU appears to be able to more convincingly show that through their film instead of shoehorned in at the end, leaving room instead for a more thoughtful tribute to a beloved actor and his character.

What is the Difference Between Iron Man and Ironheart in the MCU? Hint: Ironheart Will Have Some Great Villains https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/what-is-the-difference-between-iron-man-and-ironheart-in-the-mcu-hint-ironheart-will-have-some-great-villains/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/what-is-the-difference-between-iron-man-and-ironheart-in-the-mcu-hint-ironheart-will-have-some-great-villains/#respond Fri, 11 Nov 2022 03:17:05 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=871431
Iron-Man-Ironheart-Black-Panther-MCU
Fans might be wondering who Ironheart is and how similar she is to Iron Man in the MCU.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to enter Phase 5, and it’s poised to introduce some huge characters and stories to the world created by Marvel Studios. With Phase 4 being the only MCU arc where there wasn’t an Avengers film, there were plenty of solo outings as well as new characters introduced in sequels. One of the most intriguing, relatively less-known characters coming out soon is Ironheart, who is set to have her own Disney Plus streaming series. But with a name so similar to Iron Man, what does Ironheart bring to the table in the MCU, and what is the main difference?

Who is Ironheart, and Does This Mean Iron Man is Replaced?

Ironheart-Iron-Man-MCU

Ironheart, aka Riri Williams, was created by Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato in 2016 leading into Civil War II for the comics at the time. She, much like the original Iron Man Tony Stark, showed signs of being a genius at a young age, but she canonically was made out to be much more introverted as a character. As part of a personal project, she reverse-engineered an older Iron Man armor model to create her suit of armor, which turned out wildly successful. She has offered her prodigious young talents similarly to Spider-Man in the past and has even assisted in growing Wakanda’s technological advances.

Iron Man of course will be respected for his legacy. Tony Stark’s character will forever be beloved in the MCU canon, and the purpose is not to create a carbon copy of the character, but one inspired by his innovations. That being said, In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Riri (portrayed by Dominique Thorne) is part of the plot in how her technological discoveries have unearthed Wakandan secrets, making her an asset but also putting her in enemy crosshairs.

Riri will feature heavily in the film’s plot and will join the superhero scene at a much younger age, being introduced at 19, compared to Tony Stark who was entering middle age when he first donned the suit. While the two have a knack for attracting trouble through their innovations, the similarities fade quickly. Iron Man’s time has come and gone, while Ironheart’s is just beginning. Another enticing factor is, the characters she will meet along the way are going to be huge for the MCU. Her Disney Plus series is expected to debut in late 2023.

Ironheart Will Also Feature Some of the Most Anticipated MCU Villains

Marvel-the-Hood-not-in-MCU
The Hood is an excellent new MCU villain to be introduced in the Ironheart series.

The Ironheart series will have her character encounter Parker Robbins (portrayed by Anthony Ramos,) a fantastic MCU villain who takes on the identity of The Hood. This character has been eagerly anticipated by our community for quite some time, a self-actualized villain looking to take in other outcasts to lash out at the world. His abilities are tied to dark magic, canonically originating from Dormammu, who has also appeared in the MCU. Although, if the casting rumors are correct, Sacha Baron Cohen is potentially set to portray Mephisto and it could be a retcon where he grants Robbins his powers.

This is a pretty significant way to set Ironheart apart from Iron Man in the MCU. One of Tony Stark’s most unfortunate drawbacks was that, despite having some really cool actors attached to the roles, his villains just weren’t quite as interesting as other heavy-hitters in the MCU rogues gallery like Killmonger. Setting up some compelling, layered villains, especially for a streaming series, could make for a great introduction to Riri Williams and how she will grow into her role.

Either way, this is huge for the Ironheart series. The Hood is an exceptional, complex villain, while Mephisto is one of the most aggressively demanded appearances for a villain in the MCU, with fans hoping and speculating for an appearance in WandaVision, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, and even She-Hulk recently. If those hold with a late-season appearance by Mephisto, we could be in for a great ride.

Ironheart is set to premiere in late 2023 as part of the MCU’s Phase 5, but you can see Riri Williams portray the character in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, out now.

Black Panther Wakanda Forever Mid-Credit/Post-Credit Scene Explained: Can You Keep a Secret? https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/black-panther-wakanda-forever-mid-credit-post-credit-scene-explained-can-you-keep-a-secret/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/black-panther-wakanda-forever-mid-credit-post-credit-scene-explained-can-you-keep-a-secret/#respond Thu, 10 Nov 2022 19:06:14 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=871066
Wakanda-Forever-Mid-Credit
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has a different approach to the usual MCU mid-credit/post-credit affair.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever releases this weekend and features an awesome return of the characters from 2018’s global smash hit Black Panther. The film acknowledges the devastating and tragic real-world loss of original Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman, who first portrayed T’Challa in Captain America: Civil War. While the film deals with a clash between Wakanda and the aquatic realm of Talokan, any fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe knows there’s something juicy waiting in the mid and post-credit scenes, but for Wakanda Forever things are different. After the next paragraph, be warned of spoilers ahead.

How Many Mid-Credit and Post-Credits Scenes Are in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever?

There is just one mid-credit scene in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but it is a substantial and tasteful one. The scene runs for over 2 minutes and focuses heavily on Shuri after the events of the film. In the scene, which starts out sad, gets hopeful near the end, with a character asking if it’s true whether Shuri can keep a secret.

Once the scene finishes and resumes credits, you are free to stay in the theater and enjoy the rest of the credits and the excellent accompanying soundtrack, but don’t worry about there being other scenes in the end. This is the second and final warning of spoilers if you haven’t already seen the film.

Can You Keep a Secret? If You Can, Here’s the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Mid-Credits Scene

Shuri, grieving the loss of her brother, T’Challa, sits alone at the beach in Haiti after the initial credits finish rolling, having burned the clothes she wore to T’Challa’s funeral. She is soon joined by Nakia and a smiling boy revealed to be her son, Toussaint, kept a secret until this point. Toussaint’s joyful demeanor is a quick comfort to Shuri, who believes his name holds great history. But Toussaint confirms that Shuri can protect the secret that his name is actually prince T’Challa, son of King T’Challa, the final line of the film and an emotional sendoff of Boseman’s T’Challa character, honoring his legacy while moving forward.

Some early viewers have already caught the film.

Prince T’Challa’s identity was kept a secret after he was born, protected by Nakia during the 6 years she lived away from Wakanda, to keep him away from the pressures associated with that name and lineage. With how the film addresses the loss of King T’Challa, there will likely be quite a few misty eyes in the audience this opening weekend.

Where Do We Go From Here After Wakanda Forever?

Namor has acknowledged Wakanda’s might, and empathizes with their Black Panther, seeing the nation’s potential as an asset to Talokan if or when the surface world turns on them. It was clear that Shuri acknowledged Namor and Talokan’s need for protecting the secrets of their home, while affirming her own identity separate from that of her family in sparing Namor, to end the war. But Namor lives, and is acknowledged to be almost as strong as the Hulk, and will surely play into future MCU endeavors.

Don’t forget, once you’ve watched the mid-credit scenes, to kindly pick up after yourselves at the theater and get your friends to check out the movie! Be sure to get ready for the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, and Quantumania!

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever releases in theaters worldwide on November 11, 2022.

Studio-Ghibli-Star-Wars-1280x720

Studio Ghibli and Star Wars studio Lucasfilm are collaborating on a project together, as recently announced on Ghibli’s Twitter account. Fans were quick to check that this wasn’t too good to be true and verified it was indeed from the official account. This is huge, but cryptic, as it could include any of Lucasfilm’s pre-existing properties, or could be something new. One thing is for sure, fans are going to be excited, as this will surely be a fantastic animated feature much like anything Ghibli has produced before. Here’s what to expect, and whether Studio Ghibli will do something related to Star Wars for its collab.

Studio Ghibli x Lucasfilm | Collab Release Date

There is no release date for this project yet. There have been rumors swirling about this project for a bit, but with the recent tweet, this is the closest we’ve gotten to any new form of information. We also don’t know what the project will be beyond a joint effort between the two hitmakers. But as always, stay tuned for additional updates, and keep your eyes glued to the Ghibli Twitter account.

Everything We Know About the Studio Ghibli x Lucasfilm Collab: Is It Star Wars?

While we don’t know for certain whether this is a Star Wars collab, it seems like the simple answer. But for fans of other Lucasfilm properties, there are other concepts available such as Willow which certainly have more in common with Ghibli’s previous work. It’s also unknown as to whether this means we can expect something to come from this for Star Wars: Visions, the franchise’s anime collaboration anthology series on Disney+, with season 2 coming in Spring 2023.

While we can freely speculate about which property this could tie into, this points to greater signs of Disney investing more heavily in Lucasfilm properties. Willow has a Disney Plus series coming out November 30, 2022, and the service also appears to be eyeing an Indiana Jones streaming series as well. This could be a greater sign that the company is looking to boost the studio’s profile even more.

Lucasfilm x Studio Ghibli — a match made in heaven?

Studio Ghibli is an iconic Japanese animation studio known for a ton of anime films over the decades into the present. They’ve inspired plenty of innovations in the feature-length iterations of the anime art form and generated memorable tales akin to Disney classics. But the studio’s Twitter account just dropped a surprising, intriguing tease of a collaboration with another massive studio, Lucasfilm, and nothing else. This mysterious tweet has the internet buzzing about what the project could entail, or whether it would be a Studio Ghibli twist on famous Lucasfilm properties or vice versa.

What Would Be an Ideal Studio Ghibli x Lucasfilm Collab?

Studio Ghibli just dropped this tweet moments ago.

It’s tough to say what we collectively could want from this type of collaboration. While Indiana Jones and Star Wars are the most famous Lucasfilm properties, Star Wars would make bigger headlines and certainly has inspiration and themes in common with Ghibli’s previous works. With the studio having tackled war, family, friendship, emotional, and humanistic themes, it seems an odd yet appropriate fit.

Why Studio Ghibli Would Be a Perfect Star Wars Collab Partner for Lucasfilm

Not only is there prestige in the Ghibli and Lucasfilm names, but this spin on an existing property is the easiest early speculation to make. Japanese filmmaking was always a vital influence on Star Wars, with Akira Kurosawa’s The Hidden Fortress commonly cited as one of the biggest examples of the 1977 original. Studio Ghibli is also highly influential in its own right and is commonly cited among many different types of top 10 film lists. It seems only natural to use additional Japanese visuals, but it’s uncertain whether this would be on the scale of a Star Wars Visions style of collaboration, or a separate feature presentation.

The other possibility is that it could be a more balanced production with a new property being created by the two. Lucasfilm’s pioneering visual and sound design combined with Ghibli’s signature style and sterling quality are a match made in heaven, and something entirely new would also be fantastic to see. Ghibli’s most famous filmmaking titan Hayao Miyazaki has come out of retirement to create one last film, ‘How Do You Live?‘ and this could be a great way to bring the studio forward into a new era of influence on the global stage.

Are The One Piece Movies Canon? https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/are-the-one-piece-movies-canon/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/are-the-one-piece-movies-canon/#respond Thu, 10 Nov 2022 16:21:16 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=871125
One-Piece-Movies-Canon

One Piece is without a doubt the biggest representative of the manga genre in the world, as the series has accumulated, through its more than 25 years of history, more than 1000 chapters, multiple adaptations and world records, a wide list of spin-offs, and a total of 15 movies & specials. But are the One Piece movies canon to the manga’s storyline?

Are The One Piece Movies Canon?

Overall, no, none of the One Piece movies are canon to the story featured in the manga. The reason for that lies in the fact that many of them were not written by the series creator Eiichiro Oda, and even those that featured the mangaka’s involvement are either not featured as part of the manga’s timeline or directly contradict events featured on it.

Although some of the movies indeed feature canon elements or scenes that indeed took place in the story, the way that they are showcased cannot be considered fully canon unless stated so by the manga’s creator.

In Which Movies Was Eiichiro Oda Involved With?

None of the movies released before 2009s One Piece Film: Strong World were written by or featured Oda as a truly active part of its production process.

What is Canon to the Manga? Is the One Piece anime Canon?

Overall, everything which was written by Eiichiro Oda himself and does not in any way contradicts the events of the manga, as well as everything stated by Oda to be canon, is. Every extra info featured in the manga volumes and on the databooks is also canon. Spin-offs, on the other hand, can only be considered canon if Oda was active in their production.

All adaptations of the work or chapters directly related to it are non-canon to the manga.

You can currently read the newest One Piece chapters at either Shueshia’s official site or at its MangaPlus service. Fans of the anime can also currently watch all of the episodes of the series on Crunchyroll.

Austin-Powers1

Anyone who’s looking to venture into the genre of spy comedies should try out the Austin Powers trilogy. Released during the late ’90s and the early 2000s, these three movies have survived the test of time till now, and have a huge fan base all over the world.

Played by Mike Myers, this character was and still is regarded as the international man of mystery! It would be safe to assume that he set the tone for the spy comedy genre altogether. If you’ve just stepped into the genre, and don’t know in which order to watch these movies, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered.

In Which Order Should You Watch the Austin Powers Movies?

The series started in 1997, with the first movie, Austin Powers: The International Man of Mystery. This was soon followed by a sequel in 1999 and was known as Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. The final movie in the trilogy hit the theatres in 2002 and was called Austin Powers in Goldmember.

The three movies follow the story of the International Man of Mystery and his arch nemesis Dr. Evil. Since the overall storyline of all three movies is loosely interconnected with each other, it’s recommended that you watch them in the order of their release. The order is as follows:

  • Austin Powers: The International Man of Mystery
  • Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me
  • Austin Powers in Goldmember

Given that the plot is funny and it’s a lighthearted watch, you don’t need to watch them in any particular order, per se. Just pick one of them, grab a bowl of popcorn and prepare to get whisked through a laughter-fest!

If you’re still looking for some action comedies for your weekly quota of entertainment, check out our coverage of Deadpool 3. Also, rumor has it that Wolverine might be in Deadpool 3 as well! And if you’re in the mood for some jump scares, here are some good fright fest movies!

The-Gentlemen-Netflix-Series
The Gentlemen is getting a Netflix series.

The Gentlemen was a box office hit in 2019 from director Guy Ritchie, featuring an action-comedy plot with a stellar ensemble cast. With the story of cannabis looking to sell his business, encountering numerous schemes and attempts on his life in the process, this film impressed critics and audience, and made $115 million at the worldwide box office. While it certainly didn’t contend with the gross sales of Avengers: Endgame it has left enough of an impression to inspire a Netflix series set in the same world. You might be wondering when you can see The Gentlemen series on Netflix, and who is in it.

The Gentlemen Netflix Series: Release Date

The Gentlemen on Netflix does not have a clear release window yet for the series, but with production having begun on November 7, 2022, in London, it’ll likely be 2023 or later. With original director Guy Ritchie involved in 4 other film projects at the moment including Disney’s Hercules, it’s uncertain how soon this series will premiere.

The Gentlemen: Cast

With the series diving into the politics of the cannabis business and not featuring the original film’s cast, you might be wondering what the noteworthy names are for this series. Below is the current cast involved with The Gentlemen on Netflix:

  • Theo James as Eddie Horniman
  • Vinnie Jones as Geoff Seacombe
  • Kaya Scodelario as Susie Glass
  • Daniel Ings as Freddy Horniman
  • Joely Richardson as Lady M
  • Giancarlo Esposito as TBA
  • Peter Serafinowicz as TBA

Theo James will be the lead character, Eddie Horniman, whose family inheritance includes the biggest European weed farm connected to Mickey Pearson from the original film. So far the only roles revealed are Jones’ character as Geoff Seacombe, the Horniman estate’s groundskeeper, Scodelario as Susie Glass and connected to Pearson’s drug business, Ings as Eddie’s brother Freddy, and Richardson as Lady M, their mother. Unsurprisingly, Vinnie Jones appears on this list, as he has frequently collaborated with Guy Ritchie since his film debut, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

Will the Gentlemen on Netflix Be Like the Film?

While the original ensemble cast including Matthew McConaughey, Colin Farrell, Henry Golding, Charlie Hunnam, and more, won’t feature, the series will still feature in the world of The Gentlemen. Additionally, Ritchie will serve as the creator and co-writer of the series, directing 2 episodes and writing the rest along with Matthew Read. It appears to be faithful to the original, especially with Ritchie at the helm, so for fans of the 2019 original film, you’ll be treated to a fun ride.

MCU Phase Six: Every Unannounced But Confirmed Movie and Disney Plus Series https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/mcu-phase-six-every-unannounced-but-confirmed-movie-and-disney-plus-series/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/mcu-phase-six-every-unannounced-but-confirmed-movie-and-disney-plus-series/#respond Tue, 08 Nov 2022 22:56:11 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=869505
Untitled

Marvel Studios has plenty of exciting movies and Disney Plus series in the pipeline already. Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to kick off Phase 5 of the MCU and continue the Multiverse Saga in February 2023, along with Secret Invasion and Season 2 of What If…? on Disney Plus due in early 2023. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to complete the Guardians trilogy, while The Marvels will continue the story of Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel, and Monica Rambeau — both releasing in 2023.

In fact, there are Marvel movies and Disney Plus series officially announced all the way until 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars planned as a grand finale to The Multiverse Saga, akin to Avengers: Endgame. There are still a few gaps in the official plans for Phase Five and Phase Six, however, so we’ve compiled a list of every unannounced but confirmed movie and Disney Plus series that will be gracing our screens in the coming years.

Every Unannounced But Confirmed Marvel Cinematic Universe Movie and Disney Plus Series

Armor Wars

armorwars_logo_014-1

Armor Wars was originally announced as a six-episode Disney Plus series in December 2020 at Disney’s D23 presentation. No significant information about the show was given for almost two years, with fans speculating that the show had been canceled. That was until September 2022, when Marvel Studios stated that the series is being redeveloped into a feature movie, with Yassir Lester remaining its head writer.

The premise of Armor Wars will be based on the ’80s comic storyline of the same name, which revolves around the chaos that ensues when Tony Stark’s secret Iron Man technology is leaked onto the black market. While Tony Stark himself is the protagonist of this storyline in the comics, James Rhodes (War Machine) will instead star in the spotlight in Armor Wars, as Iron Man’s current situation of being dead in the MCU most likely wouldn’t allow for an engaging story.

Don Cheadle will, of course, reprise his role of War Machine, with Walton Goggins also returning as Sonny Burch from Ant-Man and the Wasp. Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios’ president, claimed that Secret Invasion (2023) would directly lead up to Armor Wars and that the movie will start filming in the same year. So, while no release date for Armor Wars is currently known, it likely won’t release until 2024 or beyond.

Shang-Chi Sequel

After the success of 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Destin Daniel Cretton — the movie’s writer and director — signed a deal with Marvel Studios, which included a sequel to the movie. Cretton will return to write and direct, with Simu Liu reprising his role as the titular character, Shang-Chi.

Nothing is currently known about the plot of Shang-Chi’s sequel, however, Liu expressed his wishes for the film to deal with Shang-Chi’s “newfound power” and his place in the evergrowing Marvel Cinematic Universe. The trademark ‘Shang-Chi & The Wreckage of Time‘ has also reportedly been filed as a trademark by Disney, which could very well be the name of the sequel.

Eternals Sequel

MCU-Eternals

At the end of the Eternals, we see Arishem less than pleased with Sersi, Kingo, and Phastos, threatening to end humanity unless their memories can provide him with a reason to otherwise spare Earth from a disastrous fate. In the post-credit scene that follows, we are introduced to Eros — Thanos’ adoptive brother and fellow Eternal — and Pip the Troll, who claim they know where the aforementioned Eternals are and how to save them.

While this is an obvious setup for the sequel, nothing has been officially announced by Marvel Studios. However, Patton Oswalt, who portrays Pip in the movie, appeared on The Today Show in August 2022, claiming that a sequel to Eternals was currently being developed with Chloé Zhao returning as the director. Much like ‘Shang-Chi & The Wreckage of Time,’ ‘Celestials: End of Time was filed as a trademark by Disney, which may have something to do with Eternals’ second movie considering the close ties between the Eternals and the Celestials.

“Top Secret” Scarlett Johansson Project

In 2021, the 35th annual American Cinematheque awards honored Scarlett Johansson, which included an hourlong tribute to the Black Widow actress’ long history in the industry. During this tribute, Kevin Feige declared that he was working with Johansson on a “top-secret Marvel Studios project with her as a producer.” Absolutely no details are currently known about this project, other than the fact that it won’t star Black Widow.

Wakanda Disney Plus Series

Okoye-and-Dora-Milaje-in-MCU

Ryan Coogler, the director and writer of both Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, revealed that a Disney Plus drama series set in the fictional country of Wakanda was currently in development through Proximity Media in February 2021. Danai Gurira, who portrays Okoye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, signed a deal with Disney in May of the same year, agreeing to reprise her role in the currently unnamed series.

It is likely we will hear more about the show after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever‘s dust has settled, and we have more of an idea of what the future of Wakanda looks like after Chadwick Boseman’s unfortunate passing.

Wonder Man

Yahya-Abdul-Mateen-II

Destin Daniel Cretton’s deal with Marvel Studios not only included a sequel to Shang-Chi but also multiple Disney Plus television projects. Wonder Man is one of these, centering around the comic book character of the same name. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, best known as Manta in Aquaman, Candyman in Candyman (2021), and Morpheus in The Matrix Resurrections, is set to star as Wonder Man himself. Ben Kinglsey is also reportedly reprising his role as Trevor Slattery. The show will start filming in 2023, with the release date currently unknown.

Wonder Man is a superhero imbued with ‘ionic’ energy, giving him superhuman power, reflexes, speed, dexterity, stamina, and durability. He was originally introduced as a supervillain in The Avengers #9 (1964), dying in the same issue, only to be revived three separate times by three separate villains from 1975 – 1976, eventually joining The Avengers as a superhero in 1977. Power Man was discontinued shortly after due to DC Comics’ discontent with the character’s name being similar to their very own Wonder Woman. Wonder Man eventually reappeared in 1984 and has popped up from time to time in different comic book series ever since.

The X-Men’s Hank McCoy, better known as Beast, is Wonder Man’s best friend in the comic books, even having their own miniseries together in 2000. While the X-Men themselves have yet to appear in any MCU property, they are certainly on their way, with Wolverine being teased in She-Hulk, an alternate universe Professor X appearing in Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the word “mutant” finally being name-dropped in Ms. Marvel. Could Beast potentially make his debut in Wonder Man?

Nova Disney Plus Series

Nova-Marvel

A listing for an “Untitled Marvel Space Project’ as a Disney Plus series appeared in a March 2022 issue of Production Weekly, which was confirmed to be ‘Nova‘ two issues later. Nothing is currently known about the project, other than Sabir Pirzada being involved in writing, who previously wrote four episodes of the highly-praised Moon Knight.

Richard Rider, better known as Nova, is a superhero that controls the ‘Nova Force’, which grants him superhuman powers, such as the power to absorb and redirect energy in the form of pulses and rays. Nova is often depicted as the commander of the Nova Corps, the intergalactic military of the Nova Empire; a dominion of multiple alien species across the galaxy. While Nova currently doesn’t exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Nova Corps does and appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy, only to be wiped out by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.

Nova was actually planned to appear as the sole survivor of the Nova Corps in Avengers: Infinity War early in development, but the idea was scrapped. Either way, the demise of the Nova Corps is similar to Nova’s origin story in the comic books, which sets the stage for Nova to enter the MCU in his own show, or possibly in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2023.

Vision Quest

White-Vision-Vision-Quest

During an October 2022 episode of The Hot Mic podcast, Jeff Sneider reported that he had been told about a Disney Plus series titled ‘Vision Quest‘ by a reputable source, starring none other than Vision played by Paul Bettany. ‘Vision Quest’ is also the name of an ’80s comic book storyline, which involved Vision being dismantled and his skin turning a pale white color. Sound familiar?

In WandaVision we saw Vision being rebuilt into the aptly named ‘White Vision’, who retained no memories of his past self and was sent to destroy Scarlet Witch, who had hexed the entire town of Westview into living in her perfect image. White Vision eventually regains the memories of his previous self after an engaging discussion about the Ship of Theseus with his Westview counterpart and flies off into the distance. Vision Quest will almost certainly continue the story of White Vision, and even possibly reveal the unknown fate of Scarlet Witch after the events of Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

Is Black Panther Wakanda Forever on Disney Plus? How to Watch and Stream the Movie https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/is-black-panther-wakanda-forever-on-disney-plus-how-to-watch-and-stream-the-movie/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/is-black-panther-wakanda-forever-on-disney-plus-how-to-watch-and-stream-the-movie/#respond Tue, 08 Nov 2022 18:09:38 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=870405
black-panther-wakanda-forever

Black Panther Wakanda Forever is perhaps one of the most anticipated movies of the MCU Phase 4 slate and will serve as the sequel to Black Panther (2018), directed by Ryan Coogler. Although Wakanda Forever was set to release earlier, production halted after the unfortunate passing of Chadwick Boseman, the actor who brought T’Challa to life in the MCU since his first outing in Captain America: Civil War.

One result of the pandemic saw Over-the-Top (OTT) platforms become more of an integral part of our lives. Most of us are also wondering if Black Panther Wakanda Forever would be on OTT platforms like Disney Plus. If not, what are the alternatives?

Will Black Panther Wakanda Forever be on Disney Plus during Release?

Unfortunately, Black Panther Wakanda Forever won’t be available on Disney Plus right at release. It will, however, come to the platform at a later date. This assumption can be made from the fact that previous movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe also made their way onto the streaming platform a few weeks after they hit the box office.

However, the time period after which Black Panther Wakanda Forever makes it to Disney Plus can be assumed to last only a couple of months. Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings made it to Disney Plus after 70 days of release, while Thor: Love and Thunder made it to the OTT platform after around 60 days of release.

Both movies performed considerably well at the Box Office thus their release on Disney Plus was delayed. If the movie doesn’t do well at the Box Office, it will hit the streaming platforms earlier.

When Does the Movie Hit the Theatres?

As of now, Black Panther Wakanda Forever is scheduled to hit cinemas on November 11, 2022. You won’t be able to stream it at release either.

A few familiar faces will be seen on screen once the movie hits the theatres. Many characters from the previous Black Panther movie will be reprising their roles in this installment as well.

That’s all we know about the arrival of the movie on Disney Plus. For more information on movies and TV series, don’t forget to check out our Entertainment column!

Best Pirate Anime Series and Movies https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/best-pirate-anime-series-and-movies/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/best-pirate-anime-series-and-movies/#respond Mon, 07 Nov 2022 19:29:28 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=869753
Best-Pirate-Anime-Series
Celebrating the best of a surprisingly popular anime genre, featuring all pirate varieties.

Pirates are among the most influential themes in the entertainment industry, and their presence is so widespread it’s felt all around the globe, even in anime and manga. While they might not always resemble the swashbuckling romanticized characters you might see in a Robert Louis Stevenson novel, they’re endlessly eclectic and full of inspiration from the theme in their own way. The best pirate anime series or movies are the ones that set themselves apart and captivate the viewers with promises of adventure, great stories, and fun characters.

Best Pirate Anime Series

There are some truly unique, diverse stories to be found in this anime niche, carved out by some incredibly heavy-hitting franchises including one of the most popular, long-running anime ever made. But below are some of the best pirate anime series and movies, ranked in no particular order:

Sol Bianca: The Legacy

Sol-Bianca-The-Legacy-Best-Pirate-Anime

Throwing a curveball at the start of the list, this is technically a pirate anime, but in space. An all-female crew of space pirates encounter May, a stowaway on their starship, and learn that her parents are on the lost planet, Earth. They embark on a journey to find the girl’s parents and learn more about Earth’s past and secrets, a pirate adventure with sci-fi elements. This series is beloved by fans and is a relatively concise viewing experience consisting of 6 episodes. This concise storytelling is the mark of a true miniseries, unlike the anthologies peddled by Emmy-hungry prestige networks.

Space Pirate Captain Harlock

Space-Pirate-Captain-Harlock

Space Pirate Captain Harlock is part of a long line of sci-fi and pirate manga and anime created by Leiji Matsumoto and among the best of the genre, as well as the most iconic. Meant to portray a spacefaring future Earth 1000 years in the future (as imagined in the 1970s when it was created) it features the titular character who sets out to free mankind from the planet’s oppressors. The series features an individualistic hero as its protagonist who stirs up hope in his fellow rebels and had a far-reaching influence, with tons of sequel series, retellings, and even a live-action film in 2014, but it’s worthwhile to see the 1978 original.

Queen Emeraldas

Queen-Emeraldas

Emeraldas is a revision of a character who is featured in Captain Harlock and is another of Matsumoto’s works. Realistically, an entire separate article could be filled with his works, but this is a particularly memorable selection. The series received a 1998 Original Video Anime (OVA) adaptation of the space pirate who fights against would-be conquerors of the galaxy. You won’t have to have watched other entries in the Harlock series to enjoy this, either, and it’s another concise experience with 4 episodes.

Mars Daybreak

Mars-Daybreak

Gram River and his friends are living on Mars in this series, finding life difficult with a rough economy and a heavy-handed government. It’s due to these conditions that Gram joins the most notorious pirates on Mars who are pursued by the government, and he finds their cause to be just one, over time. It’s yet another space pirate series, but this one is full of adventure, likable characters, great animation, and even mecha elements for fans of the genre. It has a 26-episode run, making for a fun, decently long viewing experience, first aired in 2004.

Elemental Gelade

Elemental-Gelade-Best-Pirate-Anime-1

Elemental Gelade is a seriously underrated anime series. The first one on this list to feature a pirate who doesn’t sail the stars, this series follows the adventures of Coud Van Giruet as he escorts Reverie Metherlence to Edel Garden. Reverie, as it turns out, is an Edel Raid (creatures who can join with humans and become living weapons) that Coud discovered whilst looting, with her being an especially powerful one, making her a prominent target for the villains. The show develops as a love story between these two protagonists and is an engaging, 13-episode experience. It doesn’t hurt that the opening song is a bop.

One Piece Film: Red

One-Piece-Film-Red

It should be clarified here that One Piece will feature more than once on this list. But it’s for a worthwhile reason, as the series has had a number of film adaptations that have performed to varying levels. It’s a testament to just how ubiquitous and memorable the pirate anime series has become, and how dominant its movies are.

Red has become the highest-grossing film (not just anime) of 2022 in Japan since releasing on August 6, 2022, already on track to become one of the most successful movies of all time in the country, while raking in millions worldwide, especially with the North American November 4, 2022 release. It doesn’t hurt that it’s also an excellent viewing experience bringing Red-Haired Shanks, one of One Piece’s best characters, into the forefront with the introduction of his adopted daughter, Uta.

Bodacious Space Pirates

Bodacious-Space-Pirates-Best-Pirate-Anime

Despite such a name, this is not any form of fanservice anime with the sort of gratuitous content that has appeared in recent years. It is a 2012 anime adaptation of a 2008 manga, receiving heaps of critical praise as a science fiction show depicting a future where space has been colonized and wars have come and gone. Space pirates were recruited to fight in these conflicts, but over the years of peace that followed, their status faded to legend.

Marika, the protagonist, learns about her father, Gonzaemon, who was the pirate captain of the Bentenmaru, making her the heir to the title and vessel, sending her on a great adventure. The series had a solid 26-episode run and is a recommended show for anyone wanting a memorable pirate anime series without having to spend months catching up.

Black Lagoon

Black-Lagoon

This anime is far more grounded conceptually than others on this list, featuring a modern 1990s backdrop with genuine, seafaring pirates in the crime-ridden fictional town of Roanapur, Thailand. Dealing in a more gritty environment, this series is decidedly more bloody as far as pirate series go. It has been compared favorably to Cowboy Bebop with excellent animation, violent action, distinctive characters, and a unique, mature style.

The show follows Rokuro Okajima who, while on a business away from his company in Tokyo, gets taken hostage on the titular pirate vessel, Black Lagoon. He is essentially abandoned by his company, and falls in with the pirate crew, becoming their negotiator. The series ran for 2 12-episode seasons as well as 5 OVA episodes and is highly recommended for mature audiences.

Castle in the Sky

Castle-in-the-Sky-Best-Pirate-Anime-Movies

While not specifically a pirate film per se, Castle in the Sky is one of the most celebrated films by Studio Ghibli, with this movie being written and directed by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki. It is easily one of the most influential steampunk films ever made, with glorious visual design and the signature Ghibli animation attached, and is adored and cited by legions of fans as one of the studio’s best. The film follows Sheeta, a mysterious princess kidnapped by individuals looking to exploit her connection to a mysterious floating castle, Laputa, and the young boy who rescues her, Pazu.

While the pirates are more of a secondary figure in this film, they become increasingly important as the plot carries on, a group of airship brigands known as Dola’s Gang. In fact, their leader, Dola, evolves from a typical greedy pirate figure into a sympathetic mother figure to Sheeta, who reminds her of herself when she was young. The bonds built between the protagonists and Dola’s Gang are wholesome and part of what keeps this film so engaging, along with a fantastic adventure to stop the film’s villains from overtaking the flying castle and weaponizing it for evil deeds.

One Piece

One-Piece-Chapter-Release-Date
It wouldn’t be a pirate anime list without One Piece featuring.

The most popular pirate anime of all time, and certainly among the best, One Piece features many of the best aspects of other anime and movies in this list. It features lovable characters en masse, a grandiose, engaging plot, surprisingly violent fights, and a love for adventure and freedom from oppression. Its protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy, is one of the most interesting and beloved pirates ever seen in anime, and after over 1000 chapters of the manga, it has become as synonymous with the pirate genre as Naruto is with ninja anime.

One Piece’s legacy is broad, with successful video game adaptations, high-grossing films, and outlasting all other shonen anime of its era despite having relatively little filler. It’s tough to say just how much One Piece has affected the overall anime zeitgeist, but it is a potent reminder of just how relevant and malleable the pirate genre is, and how outlandish it can be while sticking to the seas instead of space or the skies.

But the best pirate anime series, ultimately, is the one that gets you into the genre, with some of the best characters in the medium and tons of adventure. If you’re new to pirate anime or anime in general, any of these are a solid way to jump in.

The 10 Best One Piece Characters https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/the-10-best-one-piece-characters/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/the-10-best-one-piece-characters/#respond Mon, 07 Nov 2022 04:44:34 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=869399
One-Piece-Best-Characters
Celebrating one of the biggest anime and manga series ever, and its best characters.

One Piece is one of the most popular, long-running anime and manga franchises ever established. It has tons of great story arcs with relatively low filler, a diverse, exciting, dangerous world for fans to invest in, and perhaps one of the best, most loveable ensemble casts created for a shonen series. While it’s easy to root for the show’s protagonist or latch onto a particularly iconic villain, it’s important to note just how much creator Eiichiro Oda has accomplished and to recognize the best characters he has created for One Piece.

The Best One Piece Characters, Ranked

While it’s incredibly intimidating to get into a series with over 1000 episodes, getting into these characters makes it less of a tedious affair. Whether they’re characters who stick around for the long haul or leave a lasting impression over the various arcs of the series, One Piece has some of the best characters of any long-running anime. Due to the nature of this article and discussing why these characters are great, some spoilers will appear, so be warned. Here they are, ranked from bottom to top:

10. Kaido of the Beasts

Kaido-One-Piece-Best-Characters
Kaido of the Beasts, one of Luffy’s deadliest enemies.

Kaido is a particularly powerful antagonist to start this list, one of the Four Emperors of the New World, and has consumed the Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit to allow him to transform into an Azure Dragon. He was the opponent who fully pushed Monkey D. Luffy to his limits, awakening Luffy’s own Zoan abilities in an epic clash that was beautifully animated in its recent anime adaptation. In typical Shonen fashion, Kaido functions as a villain who, among other achievements, is fondly remembered for bringing out an amazing transformation for the protagonist while putting up an incredible fight.

9. Nami

One-Piece-Nami
Nami, one of Luffy’s earliest recruits and among his most valuable.

Nami’s existence in One Piece and enduring significance speaks to the paradoxical nature of its heroes as well as Oda’s dedication to evolving his supporting cast. Nami began the series hating all pirates, and despite this, joined Luffy’s crew as their navigator, remaining an integral member ever since and a prominent officer among the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. It wasn’t until the Arlong Park arc where we saw her, left vulnerable by her wish to free her home village from the villainous pirate Arlong, that Nami found herself fully committing to Luffy’s crew. Ever since then though, she’s been a key, iconic member.

8. Sanji

One-Piece-Sanji-Best-Characters
The chef who serves up the spiciest kicks of all.

Formerly Vinsmoke Sanji, this character serves as the primary cook for the Straw Hat Pirates. Along with being one of the most powerful fighters of the crew, he has had an interesting backstory as a member of the Vinsmoke family.

Despite having no Devil Fruit powers, Sanji initially was able to contend with other powered characters until he got the Raid Suit, and later awakened his dormant genetic modifications. This makes him one of the most powerful members of the Straw Hat Pirates as well as the entire world of One Piece. Sanji’s weakness for women and decision not to fight with his hands hold him back but also set him apart from other characters.

7. Trafalgar D. Water Law

Trafalgar-D.-Law
Trafalgar D. Law, occasional ally to the Straw Hat Pirates.

Belonging to “The Worst Generation” of pirates with hundreds of millions in bounties on their heads who emerged before the Summit War of Marineford, Trafalgar Law is an interesting character. He is the physician of the Heart Pirates and a powerful combatant himself, thanks to the Op-Op fruit, but it was not a journey without suffering to reach this point. He is the only survivor from Flevance, which was destroyed by neighboring communities out of fear for the illness plaguing its inhabitants, Amber Lead syndrome, thriving and becoming incredibly powerful through his Devil Fruit abilities.

Trafalgar Law has seen Monkey D. Luffy as his rival on numerous occasions and shares the mysterious letter ‘D’ as his middle initial, part of an ongoing mystery of the series. Despite running a different crew, his and Luffy’s causes typically align well and have led to fruitful cooperation in the past, most recently in One Piece Film: Red. His greatest achievement yet to date is helping defeat Big Mom of the Four Emperors during the Wano Country Arc, so be sure to find out how far along you are.

6. Nefertari Vivi

Nefertari-Vivi-One-Piece
There is more than meets the eye with this princess.

Vivi is the princess of the Arabasta Kingdom, and an honorary member of the Straw Hat Pirates. Her character seemed initially minor but evolved over time as a heroic, secretive defender of her kingdom. Despite her identity as a princess, Vivi has seemingly always put the needs of her people ahead of herself and is a courageous and selfless character in One Piece. She develops a trusting bond with Luffy, much like most of the crew, and even when he decided to bring on crew members like Nico Robin, she chose to believe it is for the best.

She bonds well with the rest of the crew as well, having interactions and relationships of varying levels of depth with each of them. Her complicated interactions included an initial adversarial bond with Zoro, a complementary friendship with Nami, and naturally, undying affection from Sanji, among others. While she is not always present with the pirates, she is looked upon fondly and has featured across numerous arcs.

5. Nico Robin

Nico-Robin-One-Piece
Nico Robin, tactician, archaeologist, brains of the operation.

Originally the secondary villain of the Arabasta Saga and known as ‘Miss All Sunday,’ Nico Robin’s place among the heroes of One Piece is a fascinating one. Among other things, Robin is regarded as among the most intelligent members of the crew, the team’s archaeologist and historian, and has a dark, morbid sense of humor. She is commonly fearless, a calculating and collected character, yet highly compassionate and, like Vivi, does not question Luffy’s judgment.

Robin also has numerous valuable abilities to help her stand out. She consumed the Flower-Flower fruit, giving her the ability to replicate her limbs as an extension of herself, but also things like sprouting legs from the bodies of her allies to help them escape, or create entire clones of herself. Her abilities make her a potent support for the team, and excellent at defeating crowds, especially when combined with her natural tactical talents.

4. Shanks

One-Piece-Shanks
Red-Haired Shanks, Luffy’s childhood idol.

Red-Haired Shanks was introduced in the first chapter of One Piece but his design, concept, and valuable influence on Luffy made it obvious he would come into play later on. Formerly of the Roger Pirates (as in the crew led by Gol D. Roger) Shanks now runs his own crew, the Red Hair Pirates, and has garnered respect from his crew. In his earlier years, he served alongside Buggy the Star Clown, and both characters would eventually take on roles as 2 of the Four Emperors of the New World. His role in the series is key, with his latest appearance featured alongside his adopted daughter in One Piece Film: Red.

Shanks’ relationship with Luffy is an influential one: despite restricting him from his crew as a child, he protected Luffy’s life, even losing an arm in the process. He is carefree and charismatic as a leader but will drop this demeanor when his friends or crewmates are threatened. He also wore the straw hat he gave to Luffy, originally a possession of Gol D. Roger, and asked for it back when Luffy proved himself a great pirate. Despite incredible achievements including Luffy defeating Kaido and becoming another of the Four Emperors, Shanks still does not wish to meet with him just yet.

3. Portgas D. Ace

One-Piece-Ace
Luffy’s beloved brother, Ace.

Ace is one of the most interesting characters in One Piece lore. The biological son of Gol D. Roger, his family history made him a target of the World Government in the first half of the series. Despite not being a Straw Hat Pirate, he supported Luffy’s crew on numerous occasions and even became his sworn brother. Ace was highly protective of Luffy and would become highly influential on him even after the unthinkable happens.

One of Ace’s biggest shortcomings is his temper, which proved to be his downfall when facing Blackbeard (now one of the Four Emperors) and Admiral Akainu. He believed Blackbeard to betray the Whitebeard Pirates and pursued him, which resulted in his capture, and when Akainu insulted the honor of his captain, the ensuing battle ended in Ace’s tragic death. Ace demonstrated remarkable fire-based powers given by the Flame-Flame fruit, carving a fearsome reputation as an increasingly strong fighter. He was noted to have the potential to be the next Pirate King, if not for his sad demise, which strengthened Luffy’s resolve.

2. Monkey D. Luffy

Monkey-D.-Luffy
Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of the series.

Luffy is the protagonist of the series and among the most lovable in all Shonen manga or anime. One of the most interesting characters in the series, and easily among the most charismatic, Luffy wins over many of the sympathetic characters, turning them into allies, friends, or family. His ambitions to be the Pirate King are simple and motivated by the unbridled freedom that accompanies such a role. The strength of his resolve and his combat ingenuity have led him to victory every time, and, by virtue of him being the protagonist with plot armor, he misses the top spot, but only barely.

Luffy’s combat abilities come from the Gum-Gum fruit that enables him to manipulate his body like rubber, which he has leveraged into incredible feats of battle while also giving him superhuman endurance. He is also one of the few people capable of using all 3 forms of Haki, a powerful discipline using spiritual energy. On top of that, Luffy’s Devil Fruit abilities are greater than those of his allies, enabling transformation into the Sun God, Nika, upon being awakened. This came at the cost of Luffy’s ability to swim, making him the unlikeliest of contenders for status as Pirate King at first.

1. Roronoa Zoro

Roronoa-Zoro-One-Piece
Zoro, one of Luffy’s most trusted allies, and a swordsman who survives seemingly with simple anger and grit.

Zoro is one of the greatest contributions by One Piece to anime and manga culture. He is a compelling figure and yet another paradoxical character to line up with the main cast, this time being initially a pirate hunter. Despite this former title which would serve as a red flag to any other recruiter, Luffy trusted him and their relationship can be seen as captain and first mate. Zoro’s serious nature and poor temper make for him to be a ferocious combatant, although his strong sense of honor prevents him from being a more ruthless type.

Considering a scar on someone’s back to be “the swordsman’s greatest shame” Zoro only fights fair. In addition to his bizarre Three-Sword Style, he has been able to learn all 3 forms of Haki like Luffy, applying them to his swordsmanship. It has resulted in some amazing anime fights worthy of a typical swordsman character. But you might ask fans, “what happened to make Zoro the best among the One Piece characters?” to which you’ll get a likely unanimous response, “Nothing. Nothing happened.” They’ll know what it means, too.

The best among the One Piece characters are not always the strongest, although that certainly will factor into the placement for some since it is a Shonen series. But you’ll find that, while flipping through the manga pages or enjoying the latest episodes of the anime, you’ll find your personal favorites might be wildly different. The show’s enduring popularity and recent hit status in the North American box office with One Piece Film: Red tell us that the best has yet to come for the series and its characters.

It is impossible to set up the best anime list without having Code Geass in one of the top spots. The series, which follows the story of Prince Lelouch Lamperouge, who actively begins his quest for revenge against both his birth father and the Brittania empire after being given a mysterious power, is a complete experience, filled with emotion, twists, and an ending that marked a generation. 1. Neon Genesis Evangelion

Neon-Genesis-Evangelion-best-mecha-anime

First released in 1996 and arguably the most well-known mecha anime of all time, Neon Genesis Evangelion may very well also be the most iconic of our list, given its storytelling, elements, and overall aesthetic.

In Neon Genesis Evangelion, we join the series’ protagonist Shinji Ikari as he is thrown into the middle of a war, as humans try to avoid the end and stop the catastrophe brought to the world by the arrival of the Angels. — a feat only manageable by the deployment of the Evangelion bio-machines.

For those new to the series, we highly recommend that you first watch the original Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series, then The End of Evangelion, and only then turn your attention to the new Rebuild of Evangelion movies. Which features a retelling of the story, all while presenting new elements, characters, and a completely new ending. But be advised, as diving into the world of the EVAs will completely break you, rebuild you, and then break you again in a fashion only a few of this kind are capable of.

You can currently watch all of the episodes of the original Neon Genesis Evangelion, as well as both The End of Evangelion and EVANGELION: DEATH (TRUE)² on Netflix. You can also currently watch all movies as part of the Rebuild of Evangelion project exclusively on Amazon Prime.

The Last of Us HBO: Release Date, Full Cast, and Everything We Know https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/the-last-of-us-hbo-release-date-full-cast-and-everything-we-know/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/the-last-of-us-hbo-release-date-full-cast-and-everything-we-know/#respond Fri, 04 Nov 2022 01:19:19 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=868767
The-Last-of-Us-HBO-Release-Date-1280x720

The Last of Us is coming to HBO very soon, and it looks highly promising as the latest high-profile addition to the prestige television network. While video game adaptations are usually risky at best, this looks like it has had a lot of heart and detail put into it, with a pretty stellar cast behind it as well. The series promises gritty drama, horrific thrills, and some pretty violent encounters between Joel and Ellie with the infected, as well as human opposition. If you’re like the rest of us and want to watch The Last of Us on HBO, you’ll want to know when the show will release.

The Last of Us on HBO: When Is the Release Date?

The Last of Us will release on HBO on January 15, 2023, and will also be available on HBO Max on that premiere date. The first season will have 9 episodes and will feature a plot that closely resembles that of the game while expanding on the source material for the sake of pacing. It is uncertain how long the series will run or how much of the original games’ plots will be explored, but this will be a treat for any fans of the franchise.

Who Are the Cast and Crew of TLOU on HBO?

While we’ve gone in-depth on how we feel about the casting, it’s important to note key members of the production team, such as original game director Neil Druckmann serving as a writer along with Craig Mazin. Additionally, Gustavo Santaolalla will compose the show’s music score, much as he did for the game. Below is the full cast list so far:

  • Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller
  • Bella Ramsey as Ellie Williams
  • Anna Torv as Tess Servopoulos
  • Gabriel Luna as Tommy Miller
  • Nick Offerman as Bill
  • Merle Dandridge as Marlene
  • Lamar Johnson as Henry
  • Keivonn Woodard as Sam
  • Storm Reid as Riley Abel
  • Jeffrey Pierce as Perry
  • Graham Greene as Marlon
  • Elaine Miles as Florence
  • Melanie Lynskey as Kathleen
  • Additional unannounced roles for voice actors Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, Rutina Wesley, and Brad Leland

How Can I Watch TLOU if I Don’t Have Access to HBO Max?

If you live outside the United States, chances are you will be restricted from viewing the show without at least a handy VPN just like how you can view international Netflix content. However, if you’re in certain countries where certain networks or streaming services have the rights to HBO’s properties, you’re in luck. International services will release The Last of Us on HBO substitute services or channels such as Crave for Canadians on January 15, 2022, or Sky Atlantic or NOW for viewers in the UK on January 16, 2022.

Doctor Who: Best Episodes Ranked From the Eleventh Doctor https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/doctor-who-best-episodes-ranked-from-the-eleventh-doctor/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/doctor-who-best-episodes-ranked-from-the-eleventh-doctor/#respond Wed, 02 Nov 2022 15:50:12 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=865475
Best-episodes-of-the-Eleventh-Doctor-Ranked

Doctor Who is known across many regions and that is of no surprise thanks to its engaging episodes and lovable cast of characters. The Eleventh Doctor’s reign in the series has been remembered by many, and during this era, Matt Smith portrayed The Doctor. Just as many may look back on the best episodes of the twelfth Doctor in the show, the same can be said for reminiscing about the best episodes from the Eleventh Doctor in Doctor Who.

Spoilers of each episode follow below.

Best Episodes With the Eleventh Doctor in Doctor Who Ranked

8. Nightmare in Silver

Official-Nightmare-in-Silver-Doctor-Who-image

Cybermen have been a vital component of the show since its early days. Within Nightmare in Silver, we glimpse into what it would be really like if The Doctor became a Cyberman. Two parts of the Doctor’s mind were close to split in half during certain parts of this episode. Watching ‘cybermites’ crawl their way up The Doctor’s clothes before they eventually burrow their way in was unsettling for many fans, to say the least.

Usually, The Doctor wouldn’t be able to be turned into one of the Cybermen since they are not human. Though with advancements that the Cybermen made, it meant that they could use anything that was living. What unfolded afterward was a battle of logic between both the Cyberman and The Doctor. Eventually, The Doctor finds a way through it all — a stunning episode all around.

7. Hide

Official-Hide-Doctor-Who-image

This episode has many interesting moments but there is one standout section that people always tend to look back on. Thanks to the TARDIS, The Doctor can always travel to most places they would like in the universe and at any point in time. However, that opens the way for the question: is it saddening to step into so many timelines at once?

Clara asked a question along the lines of this to The Doctor after watching the very birth and death of the universe itself. The sheer horror which must have occurred in her mind of watching The Doctor happily work their way through time itself. Of course, The Doctor consoled Clara afterward by letting her know that humans are the “Only mystery worth solving,” indicating the importance of Earth and what it means to The Doctor.

6. The Bells of St John

Official-The-Bells-of-St-John-Doctor-Who-image

A modern-day setting for an episode always brings feelings much closer to home for us, especially for those living in the UK when we recognize key locations and landmarks. The same can be said for any other country when the show decides to travel to a certain place in an episode. The Bells of St John ‘reunites’/introduces The Doctor with modern-day Clara Oswald.

There are lots of bond-building moments with an interesting enemy in this episode. The idea of essentially trapping people after they connect to an open network relates to our modern-day, struggling relationship with technology. A key moment from the episode was when The Doctor rode an anti-gravity motorbike up the side of The Shard to confront the foes. The Shard is the highest building in London so watching The Doctor speed up was certainly entertaining.

5. Asylum of the Daleks

Official-Asylum-of-the-Daleks-Doctor-Who-image

The Daleks continue to be one of the Doctor’s most despicable enemies and when the Daleks encase one of The Doctor’s companions, emotions can run high. Asylum of the Dalek involves not just Oswin Oswald (Clara Oswald) but Amy and Rory as well. The moment when Oswin says the iconic phrase “Run you clever boy and remember” sends shockwaves through the audience.

4. The Name of The Doctor

Official-The-Name-of-The-Doctor-Doctor-Who-image

Clara Oswald was one of The Doctor’s ever-faithful companions and when she saved the Doctor from his own timestream, it was enjoyable adrenaline every second of the way. There is something so emotionally gripping about watching the Doctor’s companion save them alongside the fact that The Doctor needs their companions just as much as his companions need The Doctor.

The introduction of The War Doctor in this episode with Clara getting a deeper and darker insight into the Doctor’s past is an important reminder of just how much The Doctor really has been through. The idea of them being erased from time itself and the cataclysmic consequences places the Doctor’s sheer influence in perspective.

3. The Eleventh Hour

Official-The-Eleventh-Hour-Doctor-Who-image

For a debut episode with a certain Doctor, this is about as great as it gets. There is a majorly impressive plot found throughout this episode and we get introduced to the young Amy Pond, a soon-to-be companion for the Doctor when she is older. Fish Fingers and Custard is instantly remembered whenever we think about this particular episode thanks to the bond that the pair begin to share after the Doctor is fuelled to high excitement from the regeneration energy.

As the episode progresses further, we get a glimpse into what Matt Smith will offer viewers as The Doctor. This was the perfect indication that he would make an excellent Doctor for fans watching the era of the Eleventh Doctor. When we watch the Doctor fend off an alien invasion simply with words it reminds us that the Doctor is intellectually equipped to deal with dangers in this manner, and no one was better suited to deliver this speech than Smith.

2. The Rings of Akhaten

Official-Rings-of-Akaten-Doctor-Who-image

Incredible speeches can be found throughout the long-running show’s history, although some can stand out more than others. One of these speeches is found in The Rings of Akhaten when The Doctor faces Akhaten, known as a Parasite God, a being who feasts off people living nearby and takes their memories for self-rejuvenation.

The Doctor goes toe-to-toe against Akhaten in a war of words and thoughts during an emotional monologue about the fragilities of the universe and the pure torment that they have experienced every waking second of the day looking back on their own memories. Akhaten sees this as an opportunity to have a large feast from the Doctor and when they begin feeding it is clear to see that unfortunately, it may not be enough to stop the Parasite God. Thankfully, Clara has a few tricks up her sleeve to get the Parasite God to feed on the “future.” And in its clearest form, is an eternity, which is simply too much to feed upon for Akhaten.

1. The Day of the Doctor

Official-The-Day-of-the-Doctor-Doctor-Who-image

This specific episode can be said to be one of the pinnacles of Matt Smith’s time as the Doctor. We not only watched the incredible adventure unfold but also watch as the Tenth Doctor returns to the show once again. The Day of the Doctor marked the 50th anniversary of the show alongside the memorable appearance of the War Doctor, played by Sir John Hurt.

The scene when Matt Smith’s Doctor and David Tennant’s Doctor meet is instantly memorable and there is plenty of humor tied throughout the episode.

As can be observed, there certainly are a lot of episodes that are absolutely worth a rewatch. You may have even had the urge to do so after you were learning about who the fourteenth Doctor was going to be. All in all, Matt Smith has been a crucial part of the Doctor Who franchise and it is a joy to venture through all of the episodes again.

Doctor Who can be watched on BBC and is streamable now on BBC iPlayer.

MCU Villains: Is Kang the Conqueror Stronger than Thanos? https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/mcu-villains-is-kang-the-conqueror-stronger-than-thanos/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/mcu-villains-is-kang-the-conqueror-stronger-than-thanos/#respond Tue, 01 Nov 2022 06:07:11 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=867448
Kang-Thanos-MCU
The greatest villains of the MCU are often the ones who are more than simply powerful, in the case of Thanos and Kang.

Kang the Conqueror is coming, and he’s sure to be one of the fiercest opponents of the Avengers and the MCU as a whole. His presence has been teased and hinted at through numerous series, most notably in the first season of Loki. But as for how dangerous a character he is, we have yet to truly witness his capabilities as a Marvel villain. Given the incredible impression left behind by Thanos across Phases 1, 2, and 3 of the MCU, fans need to be psyched about a similarly powerful foe for the Avengers in Kang. But is Kang stronger than Thanos?

Is Kang Stronger Than Thanos in the MCU?

Kang-He-Who-Remains
How powerful is Kang when compared to Thanos, the previous biggest threat to the Avengers?

On a strict basis of strength and overall abilities, Kang is not as strong as Thanos, but he is far more unhinged, ambitious, and dangerous. Thanos has proven able to defeat the Avengers, such as the Hulk with one blow, or tackle cosmic-level opponents like the Eternals, of which he was canonically revealed to be one. Kang, however, is still only human, albeit a powerful one from the 31st century. But while Thanos, even without the Infinity Gauntlet, could take on Kang in a fight easily with godlike strength, Kang is potentially a much greater threat to the Avengers for a simple reason.

Kang Has Greater Ambitions in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

While Thanos in the MCU was content to rest without carrying on after The Snap, Kang’s goals for conquest go far beyond simply affecting one universe. Kang, also known originally as Nathaniel Richards, has access to time travel as well as a host of powerful abilities thanks to his suit of neuro-kinetic (responds to subconscious thoughts or commands) battle armor he created in the 40th century. The equipment Kang gathers is among the most sophisticated equipment ever used by MCU villains and is strongly focused on time travel and time manipulation.

Kingdom-Hearts-IV-Kang-the-Conqueror
Kang the Conqueror is the first human to pose a genuine threat to the Avengers and collective MCU heroes.

While Thanos was content with wiping out half the known universe and calling it a day in the MCU, the variants of Kang more violent than ‘He Who Remains’ from Loki fight on a multiversal scale. He, and his variants, have aims to conquer timelines or even the entire multiverse. This makes Kang a key figure in the Multiverse Saga of the MCU.

Kang is frequently bored with being a tyrant once he has crushed his opponents, and has been known to travel to different periods such as Ancient Egypt (as possibly teased by the Moon Knight streaming series) to become a ruler there, among other examples. Thanos had a singular objective, but Kang’s compulsion for achieving dominance and power makes him a far greater, more pernicious threat in the MCU now that the multiverse is involved.

He Who Remains attempted to contain him using the TVA, but Pandora’s Box has been unleashed, and the next person to meet him will be Ant-Man in Quantumania. We’ve been treated so far to an exciting performance by actor Jonathan Majors for the character, but whether we’re ready for what comes next is another question altogether.

Crystal Lake: Friday the 13th Series by Hannibal Creator, and Everything We Know https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/crystal-lake-friday-the-13th-series-by-hannibal-creator-and-everything-we-know/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/crystal-lake-friday-the-13th-series-by-hannibal-creator-and-everything-we-know/#respond Tue, 01 Nov 2022 03:08:36 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=867823
Friday-the-13th-Prequel-Crystal-Lake
Crystal Lake should be very exciting for any fans of Friday the 13th.

Horror has come a long way since the campy 1980s slashers we have come to know and love. Instead of an outright evolution and abandonment of those formulas many of us grew up with, we’ve seen excellent, loving homages to those stories in recent years alongside the more modern stories. While we’ve received wonderful, artistically bold shows in previous years, it could be argued that audiences weren’t quite fully ready to embrace these incredible programs for more than a couple of seasons. But recently, Crystal Lake was announced, signaling renewed confidence in bold horror storytelling, by the creator of Hannibal, Bryan Fuller.

What Is the Friday the 13th Prequel Series by Bryan Fuller?

Crystal Lake is a fresh, expansive take on the Friday the 13th story and has received a series order, and will be available on the Peacock TV streaming service. It will feature the beautifully twisted writing of Bryan Fuller, a creative virtuoso behind excellent series such as numerous installations of the Star Trek series, Heroes, American Gods, and most notably, Hannibal.

Hannibal-by-creator-Bryan-Fuller
Hannibal, the NBC psychological horror series by Bryan Fuller, an artistic coup for fans of the Hannibal Lecter franchise.

For those unfamiliar with his work on Hannibal, this alone should excite any horror fan. This will be a lot like how Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter’s dynamic was more thoroughly explored in the 2013 show. It’ll surely be an exceptional, psychological dive into Pamela Voorhees and her young, future iconic son, Jason, and the poorly-run Camp Crystal Lake that serves as the backdrop of their tale.

Hannibal was one of the best horror series of the past decade on television, with gorgeous arthouse visuals and an incredible cast. For fans of the slasher aspects of Friday the 13th, you’ll be happy to hear this means the show will likely be filled with plenty of gore. This hype is further bolstered by the surprising announcement of A24 helping with the production!

A24: The Studio Producing Crystal Lake

As you may have heard, A24 will serve as the production studio for Crystal Lake, which will act as an additional excitement factor for fans wanting to see something bold and artistic like Hannibal. For those unfamiliar, A24 has made a name in the general moviegoing scene as a bit of a crowd-pleaser to modern cinephiles looking for something new, bold, and original.

A24 is an exciting choice of a production studio for anyone hoping the series feels bold, new, and artistically unencumbered.

Sometimes these productions are disappointing like Spring Breakers, but the majority of the memorable titles people recall include bangers like Midsommar, The Lighthouse, or HBO’s Euphoria. The studio has earned a distinctive reputation, and with Bryan Fuller involved as showrunner, it appears to be the fated reunion between him and NBC, in the form of their streaming service, Peacock.

When Does the Friday the 13th Prequel Release?

Crystal Lake has yet to receive a release date, as it was just announced on Halloween 2022. It’s big news for Friday the 13th fans hoping for something new, as we’d been waiting for over a decade while the legal battles between the original 1980 film director Sean Cunningham and the movie’s writer Victor Miller to simmer down. While Miller won the rights to the screenplay, Cunningham has the rights to the adult character Jason Voorhees, so it appears this is Fuller and A24’s way of sidestepping this legal battle, by creating this expanded prequel. Stay tuned for more updates.

Is Henry Cavill Being Replaced in Witcher? https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/is-henry-cavill-being-replaced-in-witcher/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/is-henry-cavill-being-replaced-in-witcher/#respond Sun, 30 Oct 2022 15:43:32 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=867432
Henry-Cavill-Witcher
News about Henry Cavill’s departure from his role as Geralt has resulted in confusion and sadness for fans of the dark fantasy series.

The Witcher is one of the most interesting ongoing series on Netflix at the moment, bringing the exceptional Polish dark fantasy franchise to life. The show adapts the short stories and novels by author Andrzej Sapkowski depicting Geralt of Rivia, bound by destiny to Ciri of Cintra as he battles monsters and evil across The Continent. One of the biggest draws to The Witcher was the casting of Henry Cavill as Geralt, a fan’s dream come true as he brought the role to ferocious life, but recent news claims he is leaving the role, and being replaced.

Why Is Henry Cavill Leaving The Witcher?

Henry Cavill’s sudden departure from the role as Geralt is surprising only initially until you notice it was timed with his announcement that he was back as Superman. It wasn’t even a week apart: he announced the dawn of hope renewed as a joyful return to Superman on October 24, 2022, followed by his departure from the role as Geralt on October 29, 2022.

Henry-Cavill-Superman
Cavill quickly took to social media to announce to his adoring fans the “dawn of hope renewed.” He wanted this role more than anything.

It seems as though a trade was made, of sorts, and while he loved both characters and embodying them as accurately as possible, he had a greater reverence for how Superman was to be portrayed. That being said, we will see his Geralt for one more season, as he will reprise the role once more for Season 3 of The Witcher before bowing out.

He has kept his fans in the loop on Instagram and it was likely a heartbreaking decision, but one he didn’t leave anyone in the dark about. This includes his announcement about his Superman role as well as his announcement of departing his role as Geralt. But perhaps what softened the blow for Cavill was that he likely would no longer have to struggle with the showrunners to bring Geralt to book-accurate life, as there were repeated claims that writers and crew of the show cared little for the source material. The announcements were sudden, but this decision could have been in the works for a while.

Who Replaced Cavill as Geralt?

In the same announcement on Instagram, Henry Cavill also spoke about passing the torch, to none other than Liam Hemsworth for Season 4 going forward in The Witcher on Netflix. It’s a puzzling choice, recasting a lead role in the middle of a series with alleged seven-season plans, but Hemsworth is certainly a fan of the series and is no stranger to the physicality demanded by the role. This hasn’t stopped the fan outrage about the sudden recasting, however.

It’s also important to remind fans that they reacted poorly when Cavill was announced as the star; they wanted somebody more like Mads Mikkelsen and were more than happy to take to social media about it. Ironically, it’s likely many of those same people who have been upset by this news, when people who were won over by Cavill just couldn’t resist the bait.

As always, it’s important to remember that while it’s important to the fans, the star’s input is equally important, especially when they are fans as well. It’s healthy to respect Cavill’s decision, and wish Hemsworth the best of luck.

The Witcher released on Netflix on December 20, 2019. It has aired 2 seasons, with Season 3 to air in mid-2023.

Ant-Man-Quantumania-1
Scott Lang, Cassie Lang, and Hope van Dyne brave the Quantum Realm together in the latest MCU adventure.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania finally released its trailer and it is looking just fantastic. Scott Lang shines as a heroic member of the Avengers and defender of Earth after the events of Endgame and is celebrated by his community, even if they’re slightly ignorant of exactly who he is.

The trailer teases yet another adventure into the Quantum Realm to which Scott seems forever drawn, and plenty of adventure to unfold within! As usual, however, this trailer is an event unto itself, setting up plenty for Marvel fans to chew on while they wait for the release of Quantumania and how it’ll fit into the MCU!

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Trailer | Cast and Key Characters

While many of the original cast members across the Ant-Man films have made appearances, and even some have gotten recast, there were new characters as well. Entire societies have cropped up in the Quantum Realm, including some played by familiar faces to be encountered by the cast including:

  • Paul Rudd as Scott Lang / Ant-Man
  • Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne / The Wasp
  • Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang
  • Michael Douglas as Hank Pym
  • Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne
  • Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror
  • Randall Park as Jimmy Woo
  • Bill Murray as Krylar
  • Gregg Turkington as Dale
  • William Jackson Harper as TBD

This cast includes several familiar faces including multiple who appeared in previous MCU films as well as others, such as Randall Park and Jonathan Majors, who have appeared in Disney+ series. Park’s character Jimmy Woo has had ties with numerous other Marvel characters, notably Scott himself but also Wanda Maximoff and Monica Rambeau. Majors played a variant of his character in the first season of Loki who attempted to prevent an existence like that of this Kang the Conqueror from occurring.

Ant-Man-Quantumania-Krylar
Bill Murray will surely be a crowd-pleaser in his role as the obscure Marvel character, Krylar.

Notably, from the trailer, Bill Murray’s character is that of Krylar, a seemingly insignificant Hulk adversary who only appeared in one issue in the 1970s. The film could choose to go any direction they please with that character, but it’ll surely be a crowd-pleasing one with such a well-known comedic presence portraying him.

The Great and Powerful Kang: What Is Ant-Man 3 About?

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s trailer seems to suggest that, when Cassie Lang shows Scott, Hope, Hank, and Janet her signal to the Quantum Realm, they get summoned by an unnamed force there. This, combined with Elton John’s Goodbye Yellow Brick Road playing in the background suggests a parallel to Dorothy’s journey in The Wizard of Oz, where she seeks a mysterious and powerful wizard who can send her home.

Ant-Man-Quantumania-Kang
Kang the Conqueror, the most powerful and dangerous character in the film.

Scott and company are lost in a strange land with plenty of danger they still don’t fully understand. Kang seems like a wonderfully twisted counterpart to the man behind the curtain, promising Scott a way home in exchange for a mysterious favor. While Kang may act as the benevolent force and potentially not be the only villain of the film, he will certainly be the biggest villain the Avengers have yet to face, so be sure to read up on what to expect in The Kang Dynasty. He will most certainly make his way out of the Quantum Realm to wreak havoc elsewhere in the universe.

Among these are other parallels to the story, such as whether other antagonists slated to appear in the film will stand in for the Wicked Witch of the West, namely M.O.D.O.K., or whether even the song is a clue to the journey of its characters. Scott, suddenly met with dizzying levels of fame, is sucked into familiar, yet dangerous territory: could this be the return to his roots conveyed as the central desire in Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, or is there simply no place like home outside the Quantum Realm? And what exactly has Janet van Dyne been hiding from the team for all these years?

Quantumania: Where Do We Go from the Trailer

Despite Janet’s warnings about communicating with the Quantum Realm, Cassie didn’t listen in enough time. Janet spent more time there than anybody else and likely grew wary of other forces in the realm who could pose a threat.

While there doesn’t seem to be conflict brewing, it’s apparent in the trailer that Kang’s built a powerful presence, and could mobilize for combat if needed. What’s more noteworthy, is that Kang is canonically a ruthless, power-hungry individual who grows bored of peaceful times in his domains, which spells trouble for his dominion in the Quantum Realm. In the Quantumania trailer he appears to be scarred from battle, so it’ll be interesting to see if he’s capable of similar feats now, or something he’ll build up to.

Kang-the-Conqueror
Kang’s role will expand far beyond how he appeared in Loki or Quantumania.

More so, he has ambitions to conquer the multiverse, so for him to seek a favor from Ant-Man, he must be missing one key piece of the puzzle in bridging those gaps. After all, the Quantum Realm is not actually a microscopic world inside atoms, but a group of parallel dimensions to which Scott has been able to travel back and forth.

When Does Quantumania Come Out?

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will release in theaters on February 17, 2023. Get ready for the most exciting adventure yet as this film opens up the MCU’s Phase Five.

Hey Netflix Discord Bot: How to Use and all Features https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/how-to-use-the-hey-netflix-discord-bot-all-features-explained/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/how-to-use-the-hey-netflix-discord-bot-all-features-explained/#respond Thu, 27 Oct 2022 16:32:50 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=866486 discord-and-netflix

There are more reasons to use a Netflix subscription than ever before, thanks to a plethora of recent and upcoming shows. From the anticipated Assassin’s Creed series to the beloved Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime, the appeal of having an account for this popular streaming service is only becoming even more apparent. Netflix has partnered with Discord to provide a brand-new bot to fans everywhere. Learning how to use the Hey Netflix Discord bot is simple, as is learning all the features available for the bot.

How to Add and Use the Hey Netflix Discord Bot to a Server

To check out the bot for yourself, you’ll need to enter Discord’s App Directory. This can be accessed through the desktop client. You’ll need to right-click on the server where you’d like to add the bot, then find the App Directory under Server Settings. From there, you’ll be able to view thousands of different bots and tools for your client, including Hey Netflix. The bot should currently be one of the first things you see when opening the directory. If it isn’t, you can still easily search for it in the Entertainment section. When you find the bot, simply click “Add to Server” and get ready for some easy group streaming!

To recap, in order to add the bot to your server, here’s what you’ll need to do:

  • Open the App Directory under Server Settings.
  • Search for the Hey Netflix bot. If you can’t find it normally, look under the Entertainment section.
  • On the bot’s page, click “Add to Server.”

From there, the rest should be self-explanatory. The only major command the bot uses is /heyNetflix. This will bring up a prompt asking you who would like to watch a show, followed by further prompts guiding you through region selection and preferred series. You’ll be able to watch a show by yourself, with a real-life friend, or with people on Discord. After selecting something to watch, a link to view it on Netflix will be created and a thread designed for reactions and spoiler-filled discussions. It’s pretty much an alternate way to search for shows without needing to do the work all the work personally. Try the bot for yourself and keep an eye out for future feature updates!

Doctor Who: Best Episodes Ranked from the Twelfth Doctor https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/doctor-who-best-episodes-ranked-from-the-twelfth-doctor/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/doctor-who-best-episodes-ranked-from-the-twelfth-doctor/#respond Wed, 26 Oct 2022 10:07:59 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=864899 Best-episodes-for-the-12th-Doctor

Doctor Who always has us on the edge of our seats thanks to the many actors that have portrayed the iconic character since the show first aired in 1963. Diehard fans of the series know that each actor adds their own unique essence to the character. There is a specific order for all the Doctors that the franchise follows, although there are times when some make cameos across different generations. One of the most memorable Doctors is the twelfth Doctor played by Peter Capaldi. This article will rank some of the best episodes with the 12th Doctor in Doctor Who.

Spoilers of each episode follow below.

1. Heaven Sent

Doctor-Who-Heaven-Sent-episode

“Heaven Sent” is an episode that could be said to be the zenith of Peter Capaldi’s time as the Doctor. It takes fans of the show to the very depths of grief itself. Set in an ancient castle standing in the sea — there is a true allure to everything that we set our eyes on in this episode. Tones of gold flow like liquid through the roots of the castle; it is a testament to the creative work done by the team to design such an incredible set.

There are many moments through this episode that make us think of our own lives in a wider picture. How grief can talk to anyone through piercing whispers of the past. Awaiting you in this episode is a deep dive into the Doctor’s mind that showcases some of their truest power. It remains to be one of the best Doctor Who episodes there is.

2. The Woman Who Lived

Ashildr-image-for-The-Immortal-Girl-episode

Eternity. A single word that defines the strike of sand on the grasp of time. The Doctor themselves understands how much of a curse being blessed with eternity can be. Ashildr was another character that got the taste of eternity given to them and during this specific episode a poignant moment shared between the two can be observed.

A discussion of what eternity is like: what it feels like to outlive others. Of course, Ashildr doesn’t have as much of a memory as the Doctor does. A human’s mind can’t remember everything that the Doctor can and thus Ashildr takes notes of the various happenings in her time. The mind can be a prison of containment — Ashildr worked out how to ensure she is always a step ahead of that curve. Every so often we remember this thought-provoking scene between Ashildr and the Doctor. The entire episode takes its place as one of the most powerful.

3. The Doctor Falls

Doctor-Who-The-Doctor-Falls-episode

“The Doctor Falls” plunges us into a story between not just the Doctor and their companions but also technically two Masters at the same time. After the Power of the Doctor special episode, everyone was looking for even more Master action, and revisiting this episode will certainly give you that, and twofold. It is a beautiful insight into more of the relationship between the Master, Missy, and the Doctor.

All the sparks of saving others are still present in this episode and the Doctor’s so-thought final stand is one of the heroic echelons. A farmhouse-like area remains one of great symbolism with some ideas of the birth of life and time potentially apparent in viewers’ minds.

4. The Zygon Inversion

Doctor-Who-The-Zygon-Inversion-episode

The Zygons are shapeshifters who have had many a run-in with the Doctor over the years. When Zygons have a possibility of potentially eliminating the task force UNIT on Earth, it is a promising time for the species. They are fascinated with starting a revolution in this episode but it is a chance for the Doctor to stop a two-sides war. Another speech takes place during the episode with the two sides at either side of a table. Clara Oswald’s image was taken by one of the Zygons named Bonnie and we get to see the Doctor talking to both Bonnie and Kate (the commanding officer of UNIT) throughout the speech.

It is a heart-wrenching speech about why war truly never changes. No one knows who is going to die, the innocents who will be pooled in red on the side of the streets as another shell fires overhead. A quote that indicates some of the needlessness for war from the speech is as follows: “Until everybody does what they were always going to have to do from the very beginning, sit down and talk!” It is an incredible speech that showcases the immense power of any of the Doctor’s speeches.

5. Hell Bent

Doctor-Who-Hell-Bent-episode

Companions have always been one of the most important parts of the Doctor’s life, serving as guiding lights through some of the Doctor’s darkest times. Clara Oswald, the impossible girl, is one such companion who is a favorite for many. Hell Bent ensures that we get an even deeper understanding of the relationship between the pair after the Doctor has made themself forget Clara.

A scene takes place in an American diner that has the Doctor having a friendly chat with Clara. Of course, he is none the wiser as to who he is actually speaking to when reminiscing about both Clara and previous companions Amy and Rory. He begins playing his trusty guitar and mentions that the song’s name is ‘Clara.’ Certainly a beautiful song for an equally beautiful relationship between the pair. The episode is full of moments like these where we understand the Doctor’s compassion and their strive and determination to always be there for others.

Another nice element of the diner scene is that there are mentions of Glasgow in Scotland, this is the place where the actor Peter Capaldi was actually born. This is a little easter egg for those who seek out the small details such as that.

6. Face the Raven

Doctor-Who-Face-the-Raven-episode

Clara’s untimely demise in Face the Raven is one of courageous sacrifice. Of course, fans of the show know that there is a lot more nuance to the circumstances surrounding the ‘death’ seen in the episode. Clara’s time in Doctor Who was one that continues to always be remembered and her actor — Jenna Coleman — did an outstanding job throughout all of the series she was featured in.

7. The Magician’s Apprentice

Doctor-Who-The-Magicians-Apprentice-episode

The Magician’s Apprentice lets us see more of Missy, but this time with Clara and Missy working together to find the Doctor. Out of everything we’ve seen in Doctor Who since 1963, observing the Doctor riding in on top of a tank playing the guitar was definitely something that not many of us expected. If you haven’t yet seen The “Magician’s Apprentice” yet, it is absolutely one to add to your watch list soon. Plus, who doesn’t love hearing the Doctor play “Oh, Pretty Woman” on the guitar?

8. The Pilot

Doctor-Who-The-Pilot-official-image

As far as speeches go, Peter Capaldi’s Doctor consistently has some of the very best the series has experienced. His “It Means Life” speech in this episode continues to impress even after the episode’s credits roll. “Every moment of your life laid out around you like a city. Streets full of buildings made of days,” the Twelfth Doctor mentions to us. And it is an imperative reminder that our time is fragile like the tremors of concrete are to a skyscraper.

Furthermore, the meeting with Bill Potts — a soon-to-be companion to the Doctor in that particular series — had set up the groundwork perfectly. Their personality was clear and evidenced by interesting traits of character development flowing through the episode. Quirky but smart, she was going to be another incredible companion for the Doctor. The ‘monster’ that the pair faces in this specific adventure was equally intriguing. Heather, an apparent ordinary student at first is quickly discovered to be much more than that.

With all of these episodes available to watch, now would be one of the best times to go back and visit them. Especially after now finding out who the fourteenth Doctor is for the franchise.

Doctor Who can be watched on BBC and is streamable now on BBC iPlayer.

How the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special Sets Up GOTG Vol. 3 https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/how-the-guardians-of-the-galaxy-holiday-special-sets-up-gotg-vol-3/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/how-the-guardians-of-the-galaxy-holiday-special-sets-up-gotg-vol-3/#respond Wed, 26 Oct 2022 04:57:13 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=866086 Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Holiday-Special

Guardians of the Galaxy was one of the biggest surprise hits for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The original 2014 film was a fast success for the film and director James Gunn, along with making massive stars of its cast such as turning Chris Pratt from a beloved sitcom supporting character to a charming leading man. The film has since received a sequel and its characters have made fan-favorite appearances in the Avengers films as well as the Thor franchise. But the latest upcoming Disney Plus GOTG Holiday Special sets up an interesting question as to whether it’ll connect with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special: Does It Connect to GOTG Vol. 3?

Yes, according to James Gunn, the events lead directly from the GOTG Holiday Special into the upcoming sequel film, despite the special being a standalone story, allowing you to focus on the characters rather than the events. As tweeted out by the director, it will bridge the gap between the events of the first 2 films going into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, teasing “fun new facts about what the Guardians have been up to for all these years.” This special will also serve as the conclusion of Phase 4 of the MCU.

You won’t necessarily have to watch the Holiday Special to stay perfectly caught up in the MCU as a whole like the Werewolf by Night special. But if you choose to check it out, you’ll gain a better understanding of the characters, and have perhaps the most emotional glimpse at the team yet.

What Happens in the GOTG Holiday Special?

The Guardians have noted Peter Quill’s despondent state upon knowing Gamora is alive after the events of Endgame, but missing and not having any of the memories of her team due to coming from elsewhere in the timeline. They want to bring good spirits to him by taking him to Earth, his home, to celebrate Christmas and find him the perfect gift. Along this quest, they are joined by regular Guardians members as well as Cosmo the Spacedog, and Kraglin of the Ravagers.

While pondering the perfect gift, they consider a chance to introduce Peter to a personal hero, the legendary Kevin Bacon, although it feels less like a celebrity meet-and-greet and more like a misunderstood abduction. There appear to be charming holiday hijinks, but the extent of how this will connect to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 remains to be seen. But given how Quill counseled Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder, his sadness is certainly a big factor in his character arc, but he has a team who loves him and will do anything to make him happy.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is set to premiere on November 25, 2022, on Disney Plus as a 40-minute television special written and directed by James Gunn.

Titans Season 4: Who is Brother Blood? https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/titans-season-4-who-is-brother-blood/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/titans-season-4-who-is-brother-blood/#respond Wed, 26 Oct 2022 03:40:01 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=866005 Brother-Blood-Titans-2

Titans has had a tough time finding its footing as a DC series in a landscape where the publisher has historically done well. One arena it thrives in, however, is bringing a massive variety of DC characters to life, and even giving memorable portrayals of iconic Teen Titans villains. While Trigon had a tragically small presence on the show, Esai Morales’ Deathstroke was among the most ferocious displays on-screen for the character. Now, with Titans Season 4, it’s time for Brother Blood, although newcomers might not be familiar with the character.

Who Is Brother Blood in Titans Season 4?

Brother Blood, aka Sebastian Sanger (canonically Sebastian Blood) is the high priest of the Church of Blood, a prominent Trigon-worshiping cult. The name Sebastian Blood has been passed down across several generations, although Sebastian VIII and IX are primarily the generations featured in the Titans comics. Brother Blood will be portrayed by Joseph Morgan in Titans Season 4.

The likely version featured in Season 4 is Sebastian Blood IX, given the presence of Mother Mayhem who is alive as opposed to Sebastian VIII whose mother is deceased. This will be the first Titans-original villain and the show’s first proper dive into the occult, which is incredibly exciting for DC fans, with so many great stories already told in the comics.

What are Sebastian Blood’s Abilities in Titans?

Every generation of sons in the Blood family is afflicted with a 700 year-old curse that compels them to commit patricide to gain their powers and title of high priest. Brother Blood’s Powers include the following:

  • Power Absorption from Consuming Blood: Depending on the characters, Brother Blood can drink their blood and take on their powers.
  • Immunity to Aging, Effective Immortality: While Brother Blood can still be killed, he can effectively live forever otherwise.
  • Vampirism: While not considered a vampire, Brother Blood can restore his own life and strength by consuming the blood of his victims.

Brother Blood’s abilities are magic-based, and thus he is a fearsome opponent for even hardy characters like Superboy. His natural charisma, even when considering the show’s angle of making him an introvert, make him a formidable presence in surrounding himself with the Church of Blood. Other iterations of the character have also pushed his fixation on the force connecting all flesh-based living things, The Red, and has caused him to clash with Beast Boy and Animal Man. There’s no guarantee those plotlines will come in play in this case, but it has made him a fascinating foe.

What’s most interesting about Season 4 of Titans aside from Brother Blood is the presence of Lex Luthor, who is showing an active interest in the occult, including establishing a presence with the Temple of Azarath, which is connected to Trigon, and Raven’s canonical place of birth. There’s plenty to unload this season, and we can’t wait.

Titans Season 4 premieres on November 3, 2022, on HBO Max.

Titans Season 4: Cast, Release Date, and Everything We Know https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/titans-season-4-cast-release-date-and-everything-we-know/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/titans-season-4-cast-release-date-and-everything-we-know/#respond Tue, 25 Oct 2022 18:57:11 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=865915 Titans-Season-4-1280x720

Titans Season 4 is almost here, and for DC fans, this is another great piece of entertainment along with the recent, crowd-pleasing release of Black Adam. In the last season, we saw an intensive dive into Gotham City for the show, along with explorations of key Bat-family members. It was the best exploration yet into the Titans as a team along with their allies, even if at times it felt like Batman’s rogues and allies cast too large a shadow. The cast of Season 4 will feature some prominent members of the Teen Titans rogues gallery, so we’re excited!

Titans Cast

Much of the original cast of Titans will continue to appear on the show as regulars, as well as returning recurring characters like Tim Drake, but the big featured villain of the season will be Brother Blood. Here’s the full cast list:

  • Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson / Nightwing
  • Anna Diop as Koriand’r / Starfire
  • Teagan Croft as Rachel Roth / Raven
  • Ryan Potter as Garfield ‘Gar’ Logan / Beast Boy
  • Joshua Orpin as Conner / Superboy

Along with the regular Titans lineup, we see Season 4 key supporting characters and villains alike featured here:

  • Franka Potente as Mother Mayhem
  • Joseph Morgan as Brother Blood
  • Jay Lycurgo as Tim Drake
  • Lisa Ambalavanar as Jinx
  • Titus Welliver as Lex Luthor
  • Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore / Stargirl
  • James Scully as Bernard Dowd

Titans Season 4: Release Date

Titans Season 4 will premiere on November 3, 2022, on HBO Max along with other services like Netflix for international viewers at a later date. The show is a popular streaming series for DC which provided a springboard for other streaming series to thrive, including Doom Patrol. Lex Luthor will get his Titans debut this season, which will surely play into Conner’s backstory since he bears his DNA. Notably, Deathstroke also seems to make an appearance in the trailer, although original actor Esai Morales’ IMDb profile doesn’t seem to currently include this return to the character.

It’ll be nice to see Tim Drake continue to develop into his role as the third Robin and to see exciting added details like Beast Boy finally getting a proper costume. This season looks to be diving into the occult with particular characters like Jinx and Brother Blood at the forefront, in what appears to be a season fully dedicated to seeing the Titans team developing more into their roles than ever before.

Doctor Who: All Doctors in Order https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/doctor-who-all-doctors-in-order/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/doctor-who-all-doctors-in-order/#respond Mon, 24 Oct 2022 18:30:19 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=865478

All-Doctors-in-order-for-Doctor-Who

Doctor Who is known for its impressive range of characters and storytelling. Of course, there can be times when fans might get a little mixed up with the order of specific doctors in relation to the chronology of the show. So far, there are 17 Doctors in the show who have been confirmed in the lore. Many people were wondering about who the fourteenth Doctor actually was for the show, with more and more Doctors on the way — now is the perfect time to learn who all of them are. Time to find out all of the Doctors in order for Doctor Who.

Every Doctor in Order for Doctor Who

The show itself has been running since November 23, 1963. Through that time we have seen entire generational shifts and vast advancements in technology for filming and much more. It makes sense that various Doctors have gained such a following in the time since the show’s first air date. Every Doctor in order is as follows:

  • First Doctor — William Hartnell
  • Second Doctor — Patrick Troughton
  • Third Doctor — Jon Pertwee
  • Fourth Doctor — Tom Baker
  • Fifth Doctor — Peter Davison
  • Sixth Doctor — Colin Baker
  • Seventh Doctor — Sylvester McCoy
  • Eighth Doctor — Paul McGann
  • War Doctor — John Hurt
  • Ninth Doctor — Christopher Eccleston
  • Tenth Doctor — David Tennant
  • Eleventh Doctor — Matt Smith
  • Twelfth Doctor — Peter Capaldi
  • Thirteenth Doctor — Jodie Whittaker
  • Fugitive Doctor — Jo Martin
  • Fourteenth Doctor — David Tennant
  • Fifteenth Doctor — Ncuti Gatwa

As can be observed, there is an impressive number of Doctors each with their own personality and style. It is always a joy watching the latest Doctors get ushered into the show through beautiful regeneration sequences.

Furthermore, although the War Doctor is not technically the main series runner they are still one of the Doctors so have been represented in the list as one. Although they appeared during the Eleventh Doctor’s reign, chronologically wise they came before Christopher Eccleston’s Doctor. The first appearance of the Doctor was when Clara Oswald was trapped in the Doctor’s timeline trying to save the Eleventh Doctor.

Doctor Who can be watched on BBC and is streamable now on BBC iPlayer.

Best Fate Watch Order | Every Series in Chronological Order https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/best-fate-watch-order-every-series-in-chronological-order/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/entertainment/best-fate-watch-order-every-series-in-chronological-order/#respond Mon, 24 Oct 2022 18:27:37 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=865594 fdc0dff409f19dfd8ffff5037257ac98-1

The Fate series is a top-rated anime due to its complex story-telling and fascinating animation quality. With many series to choose from, it can be challenging to know where you should start so you properly follow the story the way it was intended. The Fate series features so many different timelines. To ensure you watch them properly, keep reading, as we will provide a chronological order for the series from beginning to end.

Chronological Order for the Fate Series

Fate was originally a visual novel that was an interactive computer game where players could interact with the story, resulting in branching paths affecting the end of the story. The original plot offered a few routes that ultimately became the anime series novel we know and love today. Here are the nine in the series, where you should start at number one and finish at number nine.

  1. Fate/Zero
  2. Fate/Stay Night
  3. Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works
  4. Fate Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia
  5. Fate/Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel
  6. Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya
  7. Fate/Grand Order (Anime Movie)
  8. Fate Apocrypha
  9. Fate Extra Last Encore

That is the order you should watch if you want the story to be told in a direct timeline instead of jumping around. For beginners planning to get started with the Fate anime and don’t have much time on their hands, there is a quicker option to understand the whole story. Watch these in this order, and you’ll get the gist of the full story.

  1. Fate/Zero
  2. Fate/Stay Night
  3. Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works
  4. Fate/Stay Night Heaven’s Feel

The recommendation is to take the time to watch all nine series, but you can’t go wrong just watching the four listed above.
