For those of you who may have forgotten already, The Pokémon Company announced last month that they will be distributing a ton of Legendary Pokémon throughout 2018, with new Legendaries becoming available each month. This month, Generation IV Legendaries Palkia and Dialga are available from today (February 2) through February 28. Normally, Palkia is exclusive to Ultra Moon while Dialga is exclusive to Ultra Sun, but for this event, Sun or Ultra Sun players can get Palkia and Moon or Ultra Moon players can get Dialga.

To gain access to this event, you will first need to go to a participating GameStop and receive a special promo code for the event. Once you have your code, follow these steps:

  • Start up your SunUltra SunMoon or Ultra Moon game and select “Mystery Gift” from the main menu instead of “Continue.”
  • From the Mystery Gift menu, select “Receive Gift.”
  • Select “Get with Code/Password,” then, when asked about connecting to the internet, select “Yes” and then “Yes” again.
  • Enter the code you received from GameStop.
  • Your game will receive Dialga or Palkia.
  • Now “Continue” your game and talk to the delivery man in the orange and blue shirt, who you can find in any Pokémon Center. He will give you your Dialga or Palkia.

If you are playing Sun, the Palkia you receive will be on Level 60 and know the moves Aura Sphere, Aqua Tail, Spacial Rend and Hydro Pump. If you are playing Moon, the Dialga you receive will be on Level 60 and know the moves Aura Sphere, Iron Tail, Roar of Time and Flash Cannon. If you are playing Ultra Sun, the Palkia you receive will be on Level 100 and know the moves Spacial Rend, Aura Sphere, Draco Meteor and Hydro Pump, as well as holding a Gold Bottle Cap. If you are playing Ultra Moon, the Dialga you receive will be on Level 100 and know the moves Roar of Time, Aura Sphere, Draco Meteor and Flash Cannon, as well as holding a Gold Bottle Cap.

Also keep in mind that in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, if you already caught the Gen IV Legendary exclusive to your game (Dialga in Ultra Sun or Palkia in Ultra Moon) and then you get the other one through this event (Palkia in Ultra Sun or Dialga in Ultra Moon), Giratina will become available in your game. For more information about this, refer to our Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Legendary guide by clicking here.

How to Get Celebi in Pokémon: Crystal Version (3DS Virtual Console) https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-get-celebi-in-pokemon-crystal-version-3ds-virtual-console/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-get-celebi-in-pokemon-crystal-version-3ds-virtual-console/#comments Fri, 26 Jan 2018 01:24:11 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=676570

Tomorrow (January 26), Pokémon: Crystal Version finally comes to the 3DS Virtual Console, following the additions of Pokémon: Gold/Silver last year. Since the purpose of the Virtual Console is to preserve older games, Crystal Version will be basically the same as it was when it came out in 2000. However, there is one major difference: the Virtual Console version of the game will allow players to participate in the game’s Celebi event without having to go to an actual event.

To start the Celebi event in the Virtual Console version of Pokémon: Crystal, you’ll first have to beat the main campaign. This means that you’ll have to defeat the Elite Four and become the Champion. The Kanto region that opens up after this is post-game content and is not considered part of the main campaign, so you don’t have to worry about finishing that before getting Celebi. After you’ve become the Champion, Fly to Goldenrod City. Once there, go to the Pokémon Communication Center and the Nurse there should give you a GS Ball. Now Fly to Azalea Town and give the GS Ball to Kurt. After giving the Ball to Kurt, you’ll have to wait 24 hours in real time before you can continue. After Kurt has inspected the GS Ball for a full day, you can take it back and bring it to the shrine in Ilex Forest, which will cause Celebi to appear. This Celebi will be on Level 30 and know the moves Recover, Safeguard, Ancientpower and Future Sight, so plan accordingly.

How to Easily Beat Ultra Necrozma in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-easily-beat-ultra-necrozma-in-pokemon-ultra-sun-and-ultra-moon/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-easily-beat-ultra-necrozma-in-pokemon-ultra-sun-and-ultra-moon/#comments Fri, 01 Dec 2017 21:02:58 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=671390

WARNING: This articles contains major story SPOILERS for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. If you care about experiencing  these games’ stories unspoiled, you may not want to continue. On the other hand, if you don’t care about the story too much and just want know how to get past this part of the game, then read on.

One of the most difficult battles, if not the most difficult battle, in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is the battle with Ultra Necrozma in Ultra Megalopolis. If you haven’t gotten to this point in the game yet, you may be wondering how a battle with just one Pokémon could be so hard. Let me explain: Ultra Necrozma has extremely high stats, especially in Attack and Special Attack, and it has an aura that boosts all of its stats even more. It also has a very diverse moveset, consisting of Photon Geyser, Smart Strike, Power Gem and Dragon Pulse. Between these four attacks, it’s likely that Ultra Necrozma will have a Type advantage against a good amount of your team, and super effective moves are powered up even more by its ability Neuroforce. In short, there’s a good chance that Ultra Necrozma has a high enough Speed to attack first against most of your party, will likely have a move that’s super effective against most of your party members and has a high enough Attack and Special Attack that even if there isn’t a Type advantage, Ultra Necrozma is likely to one-shot most of your team. It’s very possible that you’ll lose to Ultra Necrozma without even getting a single hit in. By the way, you can’t catch Necrozma during this battle, so all you can hope to do is defeat it. Luckily, I came up with a strategy that is almost guaranteed to help you beat Ultra Necrozma, even if your team isn’t that good.

Simply put, there are two specific things you need for this strategy: Mimikyu and TM06 Toxic. Many of you can probably figure out where I’m going with this with just that information, but for those of you who aren’t as familiar with specific Pokémon mechanics, allow me to explain. Mimikyu has a unique ability called Disguise, which basically acts as an automatic Substitute at the beginning of every battle. When Mimikyu gets hit with an attack for the first time, the Disguise will take the hit instead and Mimikyu will not take any damage. After this, the Disguise is “busted” and Mimikyu will take damage regularly. Basically, all this does is ensure that Mimikyu will get at least one move in at the beginning of each battle. For this strategy, that one move is all we need.

If you’re with me so far, you’ll want to go catch a Mimikyu. There are two ways to do this. One is by wandering around inside the abandoned market that is now the site of Acerola’s Ghost Trial, just south of Tapu Village. Mimikyu has about a 5% spawn rate, so it may take a little while to find one. The other way to get a Mimikyu is by getting the Totem Mimikyu from Samson Oak. To do this, you will need to have collected at least 80 Totem Stickers. If you are having a hard time finding Stickers, you can refer to our guide by clicking here. Once you have 80, go talk to Samson Oak at Heahea Beach and he’ll give you a Totem Mimkyu.

The next thing you’ll need is TM06, which teaches Pokémon the move Toxic. You can find this TM at Aether Paradise by going to the dock level and traveling all the way to the bottom left of the area, where you’ll see it lying on the ground. Toxic is a move that can be learned by almost any Pokémon for some reason, but we’ll want to teach it to Mimikyu, since its Disguise ability assures that it’ll be able to use it before Ultra Necrozma knocks it out. Teach your Mimikyu Toxic and make sure you have a full team of six Pokémon. Don’t worry about grinding Mimikyu up so it’s at the same level as the rest of your party; Ultra Necrozma will probably be faster than it anyway, so no need to waste your time right now.

The cool thing about Toxic is that it not only poisons your opponent, it badly poisons them. There’s a difference. Regular poison removes 1/16 of your opponent’s overall health every turn, whereas bad poison damages your opponent by 1/16 on the first turn it’s afflicted with the status condition, then adds another 1/16 of damage every turn they remain badly poisoned. This means that the first turn your opponent is badly poisoned, they’ll take 1/16 damage, the next turn it’ll take away 2/16 of their overall health, then the next turn it’ll take away 3/16, etc. until they are defeated or cured of the poison.

So what you’ll want to do is have your Toxic-using Mimikyu at the front of your party. Save in front of Ultra Necrozma before interacting with it just in case this doesn’t work (Toxic has 90% accuracy, so there’s a small chance that you’ll miss, in which case you’ll want to just start over). Use Toxic on your first turn. In all likelihood, Ultra Necrozma will out-speed your Mimikyu and attack first, but the damage will be taken by Mimikyu’s Disguise, so Mimikyu will still be able to get the Toxic in. The first turn will end with Ultra Necrozma badly poisoned, so it will take 1/16 damage, reducing its health to 15/16. From here on out, you’re pretty much guaranteed to win no matter what you do. Even if Ultra Necrozma proceeds to sweep your entire party, you’ll still win, just as long as all six slots in your party are filled up. On the second turn, Ultra Necrozma will probably take out your Mimikyu, but it’ll take 2/16 damage from the poison, reducing its health to 13/16. Next, Necrozma will take out your second party member, then poison will reduce its health to 10/16. Necrozma will beat your third party member, its health will reduce to 6/16; Necrozma will beat your fourth party member, its health will reduce to 1/16; finally, Necrozma will beat your fifth party member and the poison will take Necrozma out. With one party member still healthy, you’ve won the battle.

How to Turn Off Ultra Warp Ride’s Gyroscopic Controls in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-turn-off-ultra-warp-rides-gyroscopic-controls-in-pokemon-ultra-sun-and-ultra-moon/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-turn-off-ultra-warp-rides-gyroscopic-controls-in-pokemon-ultra-sun-and-ultra-moon/#comments Wed, 29 Nov 2017 19:30:41 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=671221

One of the new features that distinguishes Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon from Sun and Moon is the Ultra Warp Ride minigame. Players gain access to this minigame pretty late in the games’ stories and it is the only way to encounter many Ultra Beasts and Legendary Pokémon. To read our full, extensive guide on the Ultra Warp Ride minigame, click here. In this article, however, we will be discussing the gyroscopic motion controls specifically and how to turn them off.

Normally, the Ultra Warp Ride minigame is played with the 3DS’s gyroscopic motion controls, which requires the player to physically tilt the 3DS in the direction they want to move. If you’re not a fan of these controls, you can change them so you can play the minigame using the circle pad instead. To do this, travel to Heahea City on Akala Island. You know Professor Burnet’s office building with the huge satellite dish out in front of it? Go into the building just to the left of that one. It looks like any other normal building, but on the second floor you’ll find the Game Freak headquarters. Here, you can interact with the people who made the game, but for the purposes of changing the Ultra Warp Ride controls, head to the front left area of the room. There, you will find an Aether Foundation employee. Talk to him and he will tell you that he has found a way to change the controls for the Ultra Warp Ride minigame. He will then ask you whether you prefer the gyroscopic controls or circle pad controls. Obviously, if you’re trying to get rid of the gyroscopic controls, you’ll want to pick the circle pad controls. After doing so, the Aether Foundation employee will say something about how playing with the circle pad is fun and then, the next time you play Ultra Warp Ride, you’ll find that the gyroscopic controls have been turned off and you can play with the circle pad. If you are so inclined, you can always change back to gyroscopic controls by talking to this Aether Foundation employee again.

One of the most asked questions on the internet about the new games Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is how to get the special Rockruff that can evolve into a Dusk Form Lycanroc. In short, this Rockruff can be attained through the games’ Mystery Gift feature. A more in-depth explanation on how this works can be found below.

To receive a special Rockruff, start up your game and select “Mystery Gift” from the game’s main menu instead of “Continue.” Once you are in the Mystery Gift menu, select “Receive Gift,” then select “Get via Internet.” You will be asked about connecting to the internet, to which you should respond “Yes.” You will see your game pick up the Rockruff as a Mystery Gift. Now, continue your game and go to any Pokémon Center, where a delivery man in an orange and blue shirt will be waiting for you. Talk to him and he will give you your special Rockruff.

This Rockruff will be on Level 10, holding a Focus Band and will know the moves Tackle, Bite and Happy Hour. If you are playing Ultra Sun, this Rockruff will also know Fire Fang, whereas it will know Thunder Fang if you’re playing Ultra Moon. The thing that makes this Rockruff “special,” however, is the fact that it has the ability Own Tempo, since only a Rockruff with Own Tempo can evolve into Dusk Form Lycanroc and this is the only known way to get a Rockruff with Own Tempo. This special Rockruff will only be obtainable via Mystery Gift through January 10, 2018, so make sure you get it soon. For instructions on how to evolve this Rockruff into Dusk Form Lycanroc, click here to read our Dusk Form Lycanroc guide and skip to the last paragraph.

Back in the day, version-exclusive Pokémon were pretty much the only differences between paired versions, such as Red and Blue or Silver and Gold. Nowadays, more things change between versions than just what creatures you can catch. For an extensive list of all version-exclusive Pokémon in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, click here. All the other differences between the two games will be discussed in this article.

Other than version-exclusive Pokémon, probably the most glaring difference between the two games is the time of day. Ultra Sun runs on normal time, meaning when it is day in real life, it is day in the game. Ultra Moon, on the other hand, runs on inverted time, so it will be night in the game when it is day in real life. The only reason why this matters is that there are a few Pokémon that will only appear either in day or night, as well as a few optional side missions that will only take place at a certain time of day.

There are also version differences when it comes to the first Trial in the games. At the end of Ilima’s Trial in Verdant Cave, Ultra Sun players will find a Totem Gumshoos to battle while Ultra Moon players will fight a Totem Alolan Raticate. Additionally, the new mechanic of Totem Stickers allows players to receive Totem Pokémon of their own, but these will differ based on version as well. Ultra Sun players can receive a Totem Gumshoos, Totem Alolan Marowak, Totem Lurantis, Totem Vikavolt and Totem Ribombee, while Ultra Moon players can receive a Totem Alolan Raticate, Totem Araquanid, Totem Salazzle, Totem Togedemaru and Totem Kommo-o. Both versions can receive a Totem Mimikyu.

You will also have the ability to battle different Trial Captains depending on your version. During Mina’s Trial, Ultra Sun players will have to battle Mina, Ilima, Mallow, Kiawe and Sophocles, while Ultra Moon players will fight Mina, Ilima, Lana, Kiawe and Nanu. Additionally, Ultra Sun players will be able to battle Kiawe outside of Mina’s Trial upon entering his room at night whereas Ultra Moon players will be able to battle Mallow upon entering her room during the day.

There are also several more minor differences between the versions. In Ultra Sun, the members of the Ultra Recon Squad you will regularly interact with are Dulse and Zossie and in Ultra Moon you will regularly interact with Phyco and Soliera. Red, Orange, Yellow, Pink and Beige clothes for your character are exclusive to Ultra Sun while Green Blue, Navy Blue, Purple and Grey clothes are exclusive to Ultra Moon. There is also a Sandygast whose location and function changes depending on your version. In Ultra Sun, Sandygast is on Route 14 and can be moved to attain Stardust, whereas in Ultra Moon Sandygast is on Route 15 and can be battled. In the Battle Tree in the post-game, Ultra Sun players can battle and scout Plumeria, Sina and Kiawe while Ultra Moon players can battle and scout Guzma, Dexio and Mallow.

There are also several Festival Plaza stores that are exclusive to one version or the other. Stores that are exclusive to Ultra Sun include:

New Pokémon games generally bring with them new Pokémon. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon don’t begin a new Generation, however, so don’t expect a hundred or so new creatures to catch, but there a few new ones, as well as new forms for old ones, that weren’t in the original Sun and Moon.

Most of the new Pokémon in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are new Ultra Beasts. Poipole is a new, Poison-Type Ultra Beast that can evolve into the new Naganadel, a Poison/Dragon-Type, upon leveling up while knowing the move Dragon Pulse. Stakataka is a Rock/Steel-Type Ultra Beast that is exclusive to Ultra Moon and Blacephalon is a Fire/Ghost-Type Ultra Beast exclusive to Ultra Sun. Other than these Ultra Beasts, there is only one new Pokémon in these games, which is the Electric-Type Legendary Zeraora. Zeraora is currently unavailable in the games, however, but is expected to be distributed via event sometime in the future.

There are also some new forms for a couple of returning Pokémon. Lycanroc has a new Dusk Form in these games, which can be achieved by evolving a Rockruff with the Own Tempo ability. This Dusk Form is pretty similar to Lycanroc’s Midday Form but with a generally slightly higher Attack stat and slightly lower Speed stat. Also, Dusk Form Lycanroc learns Thrash upon evolving, instead of Accelerock or Counter.

Necrozma has three new forms in these games: Dusk Mane Form, Dawn Wings Form and Ultra Form. Dusk Mane Necrozma can be attained by fusing Necrozma and Solgaleo. When in this form, Necrozma can learn Sunsteel Strike and has stats resembling Solgaleo’s, but with a base total of 680 instead of 600. Similarly, Dawn Wings Necrozma can be attained by fusing Necrozma and Lunala, can learn Moongeist Beam and has stats resembling Lunala’s, but also with a base total of 680 instead of 600. Necrozma also takes on the typings of Solgaleo or Lunala upon achieving its Dusk Mane or Dawn Wings Forms. Ultra Necrozma can be attained by having Necrozma hold Ultranecrozium Z and using Ultra Burst in battle when in its Dusk Mane or Dawn Wings Forms. Ultra Necrozma is a Psychic/Dragon-Type and has a base stat total of 754, making it one of the strongest Pokémon in the game. Ultra Necrozma also has the new ability Neuroforce, which makes super effective moves even stronger.

One of the new features that distinguishes Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon from Sun and Moon is the new mechanic called the Ultra Warp Ride that allows the player to ride on the back of Solgaleo or Lunala through Ultra Space and go through different Ultra Wormholes to find alternate dimensions with rare Pokémon. This guide will tell you how the Ultra Warp Ride minigame operates and what you can expect to find in each Wormhole.

The Basics

The Ultra Warp Ride minigame uses the 3DS’s gyroscopic motion controls, meaning that you have to tilt your 3DS console in the direction you want your character to move in. You tilt the 3DS right to move right, you tilt it up to move up, etc. If these controls are not to your liking, you can change them to the normal circle-pad controls by talking to the Aether Foundation employee in the Game Freak office in Heahea City. You can also change whether you ride on Solgaleo or Lunala by going to Ultra Megalopolis and talking to Soliera in Ultra Sun or Zossie in Ultra Moon.

The object of the minigame is to get as far as possible, since rarer Wormholes tend to appear further into the ride, and the rarer the Wormhole is, the rarer the Pokémon you’ll find inside it will probably be. There are four stages of rarity for Ultra Wormholes. The first stage is the most common and looks just like a normal Ultra Wormhole; a white center and a colored middle that fades into a black border. Second stage Wormholes have a glowing ring surrounding them, third stage Wormholes have two rings around them and fourth stage Wormholes, the rarest Wormholes, have two rings around them as well as a glowing aura about them. The farther you travel, the less likely you’ll find stage one Wormholes and the more likely you’ll find stage four ones.

As you travel in Ultra Space, you’ll find orange spheres that you’ll want to run into to increase your speed. There will also be balls of electricity that will reduce your speed if you run into them. You generally want to be moving fast because the slower you are moving, the more likely you’ll be to get sucked into a Wormhole that you weren’t aiming for. Distance travelled isn’t everything, however, as it’s possible to run into a stage four Wormhole as close as 2,500 lightyears away. This isn’t Mantine Surf; you don’t get points in this minigame. So if you find a rare Wormhole relatively soon into your game, don’t worry about the fact that you haven’t travelled a ton of lightyears and just break for the rare Wormhole.

Pokémon You’ll Find

You’ll enter different areas and run into different Pokémon depending on the color and rarity of the Wormhole you entered. White Wormholes will always lead you to an area with an Ultra Beast while colored Wormholes will lead you to an area where you’ll find a Pokémon not normally found in the Alola region. The rarer the colored Wormhole, the more likely you’ll be to find a Legendary Pokémon in it. If you are just interested in catching Legendary Pokémon and Ultra Beasts, you can check out our guide for that by clicking here. Legendaries and Ultra Beasts aside, though, you’ll also increase your chance of finding shiny Pokémon by entering rarer Wormholes.

White Wormholes are the only ones that will take you to a variety of different places depending on the rarity of the Wormhole. Below is a list of the places a white Wormhole can take you, the rarity of this place and which Ultra Beast you can find there.

  • Ultra Deep Sea – Common – Nihilego
  • Ultra Jungle – Common (exclusive to Ultra Sun) – Buzzwole
  • Ultra Desert – Common (exclusive to Ultra Moon) – Pheromosa
  • Ultra Plant – Uncommon – Xurkitree
  • Ultra Crater – Uncommon (exclusive to Ultra Moon) – Celesteela
  • Ultra Forest – Uncommon (exclusive to Ultra Sun) – Kartana
  • Ultra Ruin – Rare – Guzzlord

The colored Wormholes will all take you to a place called Ultra Space Wilds. However, the Wilds take on different appearances depending on the color of the Wormhole you entered. Blue Wormholes will take you to a watery area and will have one of the following Pokémon:

  • Quagsire

One of the new mechanics introduced in the seventh Generation of Pokémon games is the inclusion of Z-Moves, ultra-strong attacks that can be used if a Pokémon with the right move(s) is holding the correct Z-Crystal. This guide will tell you where you can find all of the Z-Crystals in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

Type Z-Crystals

Many Z-Crystals are based off of Typings and any Pokémon can use any of these Z-Crystals just as long as that Pokémon knows a move with the same Type as the Z-Crystal they are holding. Most of these Type Z-Crystals can be found by just playing through the games’ main stories.

Some of the most sought after Pokémon in any of the games are the Legendary Pokémon, which are oftentimes some of the strongest, as well as gracing the cover art and usually playing some important role in the games’ stories. This guide will explain to you how to find all of the Legendaries in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, as well as all of the games’ Ultra Beasts. Be warned, as this article will contain SPOILERS for the stories of these games.  In this guide you’ll find water type, electric type, flying type, and other type Pokémon in Ultra Sun and Moon with detailed instructions on how to catch these mythical Pokémon.  Capture rate for them is going to vary depending on a number of different factors, but read on for this complete guide to collecting all the hardest Pokémon to capture in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

How to Catch Solgaleo/Lunala

These are the Legendary Pokémon that appeared on the covers of Sun and Moon. However, the way you will attain them in Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon is a little different than in their predecessors. In the new games, the story makes its biggest divergence from Sun and Moon once you reach the Altar of the Sunne in Ultra Sun or the Altar of the Moone in Ultra Moon, which will occur once you have made it through the Dragon Trial at Vast Poni Canyon on Poni Island. As part of the games’ story, the player character and Lillie will play the Sun Flute and Moon Flute at the same time in the hopes of summoning a Legendary Pokémon to help return Nebby (the Cosmog Lillie has been traveling with, since evolved into a Cosmeom) to its original state, after having been tortured by the Aether Foundation. Once the Flutes have been played, Cosmeom will evolve into Solgaleo in Ultra Sun or Lunala in Ultra Moon. Once this happens, however, an Ultra Wormhole will open up and Necrozma will appear from it and fight Solgaleo/Lunala. I’ll discuss this further when I tell you how to catch Necrozma, but for now you should just know that, unlike in Sun and Moon, you will not be given the chance to catch Solgaleo/Lunala at the Altar of the Sunne/Moone. Instead, you will have a prolonged interaction with Necrozma, after which both Necrozma and Solgaleo/Lunala will be injured. The whereabouts of Necrozma become unknown, but Solgaleo/Lunala is taken by Lusamine and Lillie to be treated at the Aether Foundation. Having saved the Alola region from losing its light, the player is now free to continue his or her Island Challenge.

To complete your Island Challenge, you will need to complete Mina’s trial and then defeat Hapu in the Grand Trial. After this, your Island Challenge will be complete and the only thing left to do in the main story is to conquer the newly established Alolan Pokémon League. Travel to Tapu Village on Ula’ula Island and head north towards Mount Lanakila. At the base of the mountain, Gladion will appear and challenge you to a battle. After you defeat Gladion, he will tell you that he saw Lillie at Mahalo Trail on Melemele Island. Once Gladion tells you this, you are able to catch Solgaleo/Lunala. Return to Iki Town on Melemele Island and head north to Mahalo Trail. Right in front of the bridge where you first met Lillie, you will find her standing there next to Solgaleo/Lunala. Approaching them will prompt Lillie to tell you that she thinks Solgaleo/Lunala will be happier with you since you are a strong trainer. Now you will be able to interact with Solgaleo/Lunala, which will prompt a battle to begin.

In this battle, Solgaleo/Lunala is on Level 60, which will make it a strong edition to your party at this point in the game. Solgaleo will have the moves Sunsteel Strike, Cosmic Power, Crunch and Zen Headbutt, while Lunala will have the moves Moongeist Beat, Cosmic Power, Night Daze and Moonblast. Despite being pretty strong for this point in the game, Solgaleo/Lunala shouldn’t be too hard to catch. For one thing, both of them have capture rates of 45, as opposed to the capture rate of 3 that most Legendaries have. Secondly, if you accidentally defeat Solgaleo/Lunala, you will not be punished in any way, as it will automatically re-appear immediately after its defeat, allowing the player unlimited chances to catch it. Don’t waste your Master Ball here.

How to Catch Necrozma

So back to Necrozma. When Necrozma first appears out of the Ultra Wormhole at the top of the Altar of the Sunne/Moone, it will fight with Solgaleo/Lunala, ultimately becoming victorious and absorbing Solgaleo to attain its Dusk Mane Form or absorbing Lunala to attain its Dawn Wings Form. You will now have to fight Necrozma in this new form. Keep in mind that you will be unable to catch Necrozma while it is in this form, so don’t waste time trying to catch it, just defeat it. Necrozma will be on Level 50 here, which shouldn’t present too much of a problem, especially if you have Pokémon in your party with type advantages. Dusk Mane Necrozma will have the moves Sunsteel Strike, Morning Sun, Psycho Cut and Night Slash, whereas Dawn Wings Necrozma will have the moves Moongeist Beam, Moonlight, Psychic and Power Gem.

After you have defeated Necrozma, it will retreat back into the Ultra Wormhole. You will then be sent by the Ultra Recon Squad to chase after it. You will play the Ultra Warp Ride minigame, where you will try to land in one of the white wormholes. If done successfully, you will end up in Ultra Megalopolis, an alternate dimension where Necrozma has stolen all the light. Here, you will meet new members of the Ultra Recon Squat who will inform you that Necrozma is at the top of Megalo Tower. Climb to the top of Megalo Tower and you will find that Necrozma has attained its strongest form, Ultra Necrozma. Once again, you cannot catch Necrozma here, so just try to defeat it. This will likely be one of the hardest battles of the game. Ultra Necrozma is on Level 60, making it by far the strongest Pokémon you have fought up to this point. In addition to its high leveling, Ultra Necrozma has incredibly high stats, particularly in Attack and Special Attack, all of which are raised even further due to its aura. Ultra Necrozma has a very diverse moveset, knowing Photon Geyser, Smart Strike, Power Gem and Dragon Pulse. Additionally, Ultra Necrozma has the ability Neuroforce, which makes super effective moves even more powerful. Expect a good amount of your team to go down in one hit.

Once you defeat Ultra Necrozma, it will retreat into an Ultra Wormhole once more, where it will dissemble with Solgaleo/Lunala. When you return to your world, you will learn that Necrozma has returned to Alola, but that its exact location is unknown. Lillie and Lusamine will take Solgaleo/Lunala to the Aether Foundation to heal it and you will be left to continue your Island Challenge. Complete Mina’s trial and then defeat Hapu in her Grand Trial to complete your Island Challenge. After this, travel to Tapu Village on Ula’ula Island and head north towards Mount Lanakila. At the base of the mountain, you will fight Gladion. Once you have defeated Gladion, he will tell you that he saw Lillie at Mahalo Trail on Melemele Island. If you return to Mahalo Trail now, you will have the opportunity to catch Solgaleo/Lunala, which you can read more about in the section above. Regardless of whether you choose to catch Solgaleo/Lunala now, you are now granted access to Mount Lanakila, which acts as the games’ Victory Road. After solving puzzles and defeating trainers, you will eventually come to an area that is a huge crater. At the center of the crater, you will find the weakened Necrozma. Upon interacting with Necrozma, you will be informed that it is too weak, but you can offer to share light with it from your Z-Ring. If you do so, a battle with Necrozma in its normal form will be prompted.

Here, you can finally catch Necrozma. Necrozma is Level 65 here and knows the moves Photon Geyser, Iron Defense, Power Gem and Night Slash. If you succeed in capturing Necrozma, you will also receive Ultranecrozium Z, an item which will allow Dusk Mane or Dawn Wings Necrozma to use Ultra Burst to transform into Ultra Necrozma, and which will allow Ultra Necrozma to use its Z-Move Light That Burns the Sky as long as Necrozma knows the move Photon Geyser. Once you catch Necrozma, Colress will appear and give you an N-Solarizer and an N-Lunarizer which will allow Necrozma to fuse with Solgaleo or Lunala respectively to become Dusk Mane Necrozma or Dawn Wings Necrozma.

How to Catch Cosmog

After you have defeated the Elite Four and become the Champion of the Alola region, you will have the opportunity to get a Cosmog. To do this, you will need to have Solgaleo/Lunala in your party, then return to the Altar of the Sunne/Moone at night in Ultra Sun or during the day in Ultra Moon. Once you are there, you will find a dimensional rift which you can interact with. Doing so will prompt a message, asking you if you want to go to Ultra Megalopolis, the Ultra Wormhole or the Reverse World. Go to the Reverse World. Here, you will be transported to an alternate dimension where things are mostly the same, but the time of day has been flipped. This means that it will be night in the game when it is day in real life and day in the game when it is night in real life in Ultra Sun or day in the game when it is day in real life and night in the game when it is night in real life in Ultra Moon. In the Reverse World,  travel to the Lake of the Sunne/Moone, which is to the northeast of Ula’ula Meadow on Ula’ula Island. Here, Cosmog will appear and join your party voluntarily. Cosmog will be on Level 5 and only know Splash.

How to Catch Zygarde

After you have defeated the Elite Four and become the Champion of the Alola region, you will have the opportunity to catch Zygarde. In the post-game, a large section of Poni Island that was previously closed off is now open to explore. One of the areas now available is Resolution Cave, which is where you will find Zygarde. Zygarde will be on Level 60 and know the moves Land’s Wrath, Glare, Safeguard and Dragon Breath.

After you have captured this Zygarde, you can return to the small, white Aether building on Route 16 where Sina and Dexio will be waiting for you. Here, Sina and Dexio will inform you about Zygarde Cells and give you a Zygarde Cube. Then Dexio will battle you and after you win, he will give you another Zygarde. This Zygarde is in its 10% stage, is on Level 63 and knows the moves Crunch, Earthquake, Camouflage and Dragon Pulse. With both Zygardes as well as the cells in the Zygarde Cube, you now have a total of 100 Zygarde Cells, meaning you can use the machine in this building to create a Zygarde with the ability Power Construct, which will allow it to attain its Perfect Form in battle once its health drops below half.

How to Catch The Tapus

After you have defeated the Elite Four and become the Champion of the Alola region, you will have the opportunity to catch the various Tapu Legendaries. If you interact with the altar at the Ruins of Conflict on Melemele Island, you will fight Tapu Koko, which is Level 60 and knows the moves Nature’s Madness, Discharge, Agility and Electro Ball. After battling Tapu Koko, you will receive a Tapunium Z, which can be used to allow the Tapu Legendaries to use their Z-Moves. If you interact with the altar at the Ruins of Life on Akala Island, you will fight Tapu Lele, which is Level 60 and knows the moves Nature’s Madness, Extrasensory, Flatter and Moonblast. If you interact with the altar at the Ruins of Abundance on Ula’ula Island, you will fight Tapu Bulu, which is Level 60 and knows the moves Nature’s Madness, Zen Headbutt, Megahorn and Skull Bash. If you interact with the altar at the Ruins of Hope on Poni Island, you will fight Tapu Fini, which is Level 60 and knows the moves Nature’s Madness, Muddy Water, Aqua Ring and Hydro Pump.

How to Catch Ultra Wormhole Legendary

After your first trip through an Ultra Wormhole while pursuing Necrozma, you will have the ability to do the Ultra Warp Ride minigame again whenever you want from the Altar of the Sunne/Moone. Entering different wormholes in this minigame will take you to different dimensions where different Pokémon are available depending on what color the wormhole is and how many lightyears away from your dimension it is. If you travel far enough, it is possible that you will end up in a dimension where you can find a Legendary Pokémon from another region. Below are lists of the four different color wormholes and which Legendaries you can potentially find in each, in addition to any additional requirements you may need to find each Legendary.

Event Legendaries

magearna-qr-code

Though there are likely to be more in the future, as of right now there are only two Legendaries that are obtainable through special means. One of these is Magearna, which can be attained by scanning the QR code to the right of this paragraph (in North America). This code will only work if you have defeated the Elite Four and become Alola’s champion. While you are playing the game, pause and select “QR Scanner” from the Pause Menu, then scan this QR code. Now you will have to pick up your Magearna from a delivery man in an orange and blue shirt who will be standing outside of the antique shop in the mall in the Hau’oli City Shopping District. This Magearna will be on Level 50 and know the moves Flash Cannon, Fleur Cannon, Lucky Chant and Helping Hand.

The other traditionally event-only Legendary that is currently available in these games is Celebi. However, you will only be able to get Celebi if you purchased a copy of Pokémon Gold or Silver from the 3DS eShop. If you have done this, then click here to follow a guide on how to receive Celebi. (Note that the guide states how to receive Celebi in Sun or Moon, but you can receive Celebi in Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon by following the same instructions.)

How to Catch New Ultra Beasts

There are four Ultra Beasts that are new to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. One of these is Poipole, AKA UB Adhesive, which you will receive as a gift Pokémon during the main story immediately after defeating Ultra Necrozma in Ultra Megalopolis. Another new Ultra Beast is Naganadel, which Poipole will evolve into upon leveling up while knowing the move Dragon Pulse. Poipole can only learn Dragon Pulse via TM or Move Relearner.

The other two new Ultra Beasts are Stakataka, AKA UB Assembly, and Blacephalon, AKA UB Burst. These two can be caught in the post-game. After you have defeated the Elite Four and become the Alolan Champion, continue the game and attempt to leave your house. You will be given a new mission by the Ultra Recon Squad who state that Ultra Beasts have been terrorizing Poni Island. They will take you to a previously closed off location where you can find Stakataka in Ultra Moon or Blacephalon in Ultra Sun. They will appear in the grass like normal Pokémon, however, there will be only two of each available to catch. Prior to this, the Ultra Recon Squad will give you a few Beast Balls to catch these Ultra Beasts.

How to Catch Old Ultra Beasts

All of the previous Ultra Beasts from Sun and Moon return in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon as well. The first one you will encounter is Nihilego, who will appear during the main story when you are visiting the Aether Foundation for the first time. Nihilego will be uncatchable at this point, so just defeat it.

Much later, once you are given access to the Ultra Warp Ride minigame, you can use it to enter different dimensions that are home to various Ultra Beasts. Riding into red, blue, green or yellow wormholes have the potential to land you in an area where you can find a Legendary Pokémon, but riding into a white wormhole can potentially land you in an area where you can find Ultra Beasts. Below is the list of Ultra Beasts you can find in this manner.

  • Nihilego
  • Buzzwole (exclusive to Ultra Sun)
  • Pheromosa (exclusive to Ultra Moon)
  • Xurkitree
  • Celesteela (exclusive to Ultra Moon)
  • Kartana (exclusive to Ultra Sun)
  • Guzzlord

These NPCs are called Move Tutors and there are several different kinds all across the Alola region.

Beach Tutors

One of the new features in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is the inclusion of the Mantine surfing minigame. Doing tricks during the minigame will earn you points and the more points you have after a round, the more BP (Battle Points or Beach Points) you will receive afterward. There are also a few Move Tutors in the game that teach between one and three specific moves, only to specific Pokémon. Two such Move Tutors can be found at the blue booth in the mall of the Hau’oli City Shopping District. The Move Tutors at this booth will teach moves only to the fully evolved versions of the 21 starter Pokémon. The female NPC to the right side of this booth will teach Fire Pledge to fully evolved Fire-Type starters, Grass Pledge to fully evolved Grass-Type starters and Water Pledge to fully evolved Water-Type starters. The male NPC to the left side of this booth will teach Blast Burn to fully evolved Fire-Type starters, Frenzy Plant to fully evolved Grass-Type starters and Hydro Cannon to fully evolved Water-Type starters.

At the Hano Grand Resort, there is a famous Pikachu hanging out by the pool out front. After you complete a brief side-mission for the Pikachu, the man standing next to it will become a Move Tutor that can teach Volt Tackle to a Pikachu.

Inside the Hano Grand Resort, there is an elderly man in a blue shirt standing next to an Alolan Meowth. This man is a Move Tutor who can teach Relic Song to Meloetta and Secret Sword to Keldeo.

There are two Move Tutors inside the Pokémon Center at Seafolk Village. To the right side of the building, there is a bald man in a red shirt who can teach Dragon Ascent to Rayquaza. To the left side of the building, there is a female Ace Trainer who can teach Draco Meteor to any Dragon-Type Pokémon.

Move Deleter and Reminder

In the Hau’oli City Pokémon Center, there is a bald man in a beige shirt to the right side of the building. This man is the Move Deleter, who can make your Pokémon forget any move that they know. Since HM moves are no longer a mechanic in these games, the Move Deleter is significantly less useful than in previous generations, but if you want to use him, he’s there.

In the Mount Lanakila Pokémon Center, there is an elderly woman in a green dress to the right side of the building. This woman is the Move Reminder, who can teach a Pokémon any move that it used to know and has forgotten. The Move Reminder can also teach moves that a Pokémon has yet to learn, that it would normally learn by leveling up further than it currently is.

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon came out a few days ago and, like any dual versions in the franchise, there are differences between the games depending on which version you play. Perhaps the biggest difference between the two versions is which Pokémon you can catch in each game. These new games introduce a ton of Pokémon that weren’t in the original Sun and Moon, as well as plenty of returning Alola Pokémon, both groups of which find some level of exclusivity depending on the version. Therefore, one of the biggest factors in determining which version to get is often based on what version exclusive Pokémon each game has. If you’re someone wondering which version to pick up, here is a list of which Pokémon are exclusive to which game.

Pokémon that can only be found in Pokémon Ultra Sun include:

  • Alolan Vulpix
  • Alolan Ninetales
  • Houndour
  • Houndoom
  • Cottonee
  • Whimsicott
  • Basculin (Red-Stripe Form)
  • Golett
  • Golurk
  • Rufflet
  • Braviary
  • Clauncher
  • Clawitzer
  • Turtonator
  • Passimian

Pokémon that can only be found in Pokémon Ultra Moon include:

  • Alolan Sandshrew
  • Alolan Sandslash
  • Electrike
  • Manectric
  • Baltoy
  • Claydol
  • Petilil
  • Lilligant
  • Basculin (Blue-Stripe Form)
  • Vullaby
  • Mandibuzz
  • Skrelp
  • Dragalge
  • Oranguru
  • Drampa

In addition to normal version exclusives, each game also has exclusive fossils, and therefore exclusive extinct Pokémon that can be brought back to life.

Fossils exclusive to Ultra Sun and their respective exclusive Pokémon are as follows:

  • Helix Fossil (Omanyte, Omastar)
  • Claw Fossil (Anorith, Armaldo)
  • Skull Fossil (Cranidos, Rampardos)
  • Cover Fossil (Tirtouga, Carracosta)
  • Jaw Fossil (Tyrunt, Tyrantrum)

Fossils exclusive to Ultra Moon and their respective exclusive Pokémon are as follows:

  • Dome Fossil (Kabuto, Kabutops)
  • Root Fossil (Lileep, Cradily)
  • Armor Fossil (Shieldon, Bastiodon)
  • Plume Fossil (Archen, Archeops)
  • Sail Fossil (Amaura, Aurorus)

In these new games, players will be able to receive Totem Pokémon of their own to use in battle after collecting a certain number of Totem Stickers. However, the usage of some Totem Pokémon is exclusive to the version you are playing.

Totem Pokémon exclusive to Ultra Sun include:

  • Alolan Marowak
  • Gumshoos
  • Vikavolt
  • Ribombee
  • Lurantis

Totem Pokémon exclusive to Ultra Moon include:

  • Alolan Raticate
  • Araquanid
  • Salazzle
  • Togedemaru
  • Kommo-o

A few new Ultra Beasts were added into the new games. Like in the original games, some of these Ultra Beasts are version exclusive.

Ultra Beasts exclusive to Ultra Sun include:

  • Buzzwole
  • Kartana
  • Blacephalon

Ultra Beasts exclusive to Ultra Moon include:

  • Pheromosa
  • Celesteela
  • Stakataka

Lastly, a ton of Legendary Pokémon were added to these new games but, like regular Pokémon, there are many that are version exclusive as well.

Legendary Pokémon exclusive to Ultra Sun include:

  • Raikou
  • Ho-Oh
  • Latios
  • Groudon
  • Dialga
  • Heatran
  • Tornadus
  • Reshiram
  • Xerneas
  • Solgaleo

Legendary Pokémon exclusive to Ultra Moon include:

  • Entei
  • Lugia
  • Latias
  • Kyogre
  • Palkia
  • Regigigas
  • Thundurus
  • Zekrom
  • Yveltal
  • Lunala

It is also worth mentioning that there are a few Legendary Pokémon that can technically be attained in both games, but that will only appear once you have two specific Legendary Pokémon from each version both in your team. These Legendary Pokémon, and the other Legendaries that are required to be in your team for them to appear, are listed below:

  • Suicune (requires Raikou and Entei)
  • Rayquaza (requires Groudon and Kyogre)
  • Giratina (requires Dialga and Palkia)
  • Landorus (requires Tornadus and Thundurus)
  • Kyurem (requires Reshiram and Zekrom)

How to Get Dusk Form Lycanroc in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-get-dusk-form-lycanroc-in-pokemon-ultra-sun-and-ultra-moon/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-get-dusk-form-lycanroc-in-pokemon-ultra-sun-and-ultra-moon/#comments Thu, 16 Nov 2017 19:41:16 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=668395
pokemon-ultra-sun-and-ultra-moon-lycanroc

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon come out tomorrow, November 17. If you pick up a copy of one of these games relatively early, you’ll have access to a new form of Lycanroc, its Dusk Form. However, getting your hands on a Dusk Form Lycanroc is kind of complicated, but if you follow the instructions below, you should be fine.

Starting tomorrow, there will be a Mystery Gift event for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon to receive a special Rockruff. It is important that you receive this Rockruff because the only way to get a Dusk Form Lycanroc is by evolving this specific Rockruff. To get this Rockruff, you will want to select “Mystery Gift” from the game’s main menu instead of “New Game.” If Mystery Gift is not yet available, then start your game, play until you get to a good stopping point, then save and quit the game. Start the game up again, but now select “Mystery Gift” from the main menu. Once you are in the Mystery Gift menu, select “Receive Gift.” According to Serebii, this Rockruff will be available via Wi-Fi event, as opposed to a serial code, so select “Get via Internet.” You will be asked about connecting to the internet, to which you should respond “Yes.” Your game should pick up the Rockruff as a Mystery Gift. Now, continue your game and go to any Pokémon Center, where a delivery man in an orange and blue shirt will be waiting for you. Talk to him and he will give you your Rockruff. This Rockruff will be on Level 10, it will be holding a Focus Band and it will know the moves Tackle, Bite and Happy Hour. If you are playing Ultra Sun, this Rockruff will also know Fire Fang, whereas it will know Thunder Fang if you’re playing Ultra Moon. This Rockruff will only be obtainable through January 10, 2018, so make sure you get it soon upon receiving your copy of Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon.

So now you have your special Rockruff. Now you just need to get it to evolve. Rockruff normally evolves on Level 25 into a Lycanroc in its Midday Form if it is daytime in Sun or Ultra Sun or into its Midnight Form if it is nighttime in Moon or Ultra Moon. With this special Rockruff, however, you will want to make sure that it reaches Level 25 at dusk, specifically between 5:00PM and 5:59PM. If your Rockruff hits Level 25 before this timeframe, you can prevent its evolution by pressing “B” while it is trying to evolve. Each time it levels up again, it will try to evolve again, so just keep preventing it from evolving until it is the correct time. Also, keep in mind that Ultra Moon plays on an inverse time than in reality, so 5:00PM in the game will take place at 5:00AM in real life. You want Rockruff to evolve at 5:00PM-5:59PM in game time, so Ultra Moon players will have to get up at 5:00AM to make sure their Rockruff evolves into Dusk Form Lycanroc. Ultra Sun players will not have this issue as Ultra Sun runs on the same time as real life.

How to Get Ash’s Pikachu in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-get-ashs-pikachu-in-pokemon-ultra-sun-and-ultra-moon/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-get-ashs-pikachu-in-pokemon-ultra-sun-and-ultra-moon/#comments Fri, 03 Nov 2017 18:17:32 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=667828

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon don’t release for another two weeks, but this weekend you can get a head start by receiving an event QR code to be able to receive Ash’s Pikachu in the games once they come out.

You may have heard about the 20th Pokémon movie, Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! The plot of the movie is a retelling of how Ash met his Pikachu for the first time in the anime. The movie will be shown in theaters this Sunday, November 5, and Monday, November 6. If you attend one of these showings, you will be given a QR code to be used to redeem Ash’s Pikachu, which is a Pikachu wearing Ash’s hat from the new movie, in your future copy of Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon. Follow the instructions below to successfully attain this Pikachu.

First, you will obviously want to make sure that you attend the new movie in theaters on November 5 or 6 and receive a QR code. Then you will have to hang on to the code until November 17, which is when Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon come out. Once you have your copy of the game, begin playing it. On the game’s main menu, click the option that says “Mystery Gift” instead of “New Game.” If “Mystery Gift” is not yet an option, then click “New Game” and play through the game until you receive Mystery Gift capabilities. Once you have received Mystery Gift capabilities, save your game and turn it off. Turn it back on and select “Mystery Gift” from the main menu instead of “Continue.” Next, select “Receive Gift” and then “Get with Code/Password.” You will be asked two questions, to which you will respond “Yes” both times. Once prompted to enter a code, enter the QR code you received from the theater when you attended the showing of the movie. After entering the code, you should see your gift enter your game. Now exit Mystery Gift and select “Continue” from the main menu. In the game, go to any Pokémon Center, where a Delivery Man will be waiting for you. Talk to the Delivery Man and he will give you your Pikachu as long as there is enough room in your party. Then save your game to make sure you don’t lose it.

Not long ago, it was announced that to celebrate the upcoming 20th Pokémon movie, there would be a Mystery Gift event for Sun and Moon that would allow players to receive a Pikachu wearing one of Ash’s six hats from the anime series. The code for this event can only be used to obtain one of the six Pikachu, each of which are available at different times, wear a different hat, has a different moveset and come at a different level, so think carefully about which Pikachu you want before using the code.

The first Pikachu, which wears Ash’s hat from the Kanto and Johto series in the anime, is available from today (September 19) to September 25. According to Serebii.net, this Pikachu will come at level 1 and have the moves Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Thunder and Agility. This Pikachu (as well as all the other Pikachu) will be holding the item Pikashunium Z, which allows Pikachu to use its exclusive Z-Move 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt if it knows the move Thunderbolt. If this is the Pikachu that you want, follow the instructions below.

Upcon starting your Pokémon Sun or Moon game, click Mystery Gift instead of Continue. Click the option “Receive Gift” and then click “Get with Code/Password.” Click “Yes” and “Yes” again. Now you will be prompted to enter the code. Remember, you can only use this code to receive ONE of the six Ash’s Pikachu for this event, so if you choose to use the code now, you will not be able to use it to obtain any of the Ash’s Pikachu that will be available in the coming weeks. The code for this event is PIKACHU20. Once you type this in, your game will receive the Mystery Gift. After this happens, exit Mystery Gift and Continue playing the game. You will be able to receive your Pikachu from any delivery man in any Pokémon Center.

If this Pikachu’s hat or moveset is not to your liking, here are the details about the upcoming Ash’s Pikachu.

  • Hoenn hat Pikachu – Lv. 6 – Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Thunder, Iron Tail – Available from September 26 to October 2
  • Sinnoh hat Pikachu – Lv. 10 – Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Iron Tail, Volt Tackle – Available from October 3 to October 9
  • Unova hat Pikachu – Lv. 14 – Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Iron Tail, Volt Tackle – Available from October 10 to October 16
  • Kalos hat Pikachu – Lv. 17 – Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Iron Tail, Electro Ball – Available from October 17 to October 23
  • Alola hat Pikachu – Lv. 20 – Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Iron Tail, Electro Ball – Available from October 24 to October 30

Also, separate from the PIKACHU20 event, you can get a Pikachu wearing the hat Ash wears in the 20th movie by attending a theater screening of the movie from November 5 to November 6, at which point you will be given a QR code for the Pikachu. It is not currently known what level this Pikachu will be or what moves it will have. This QR code can only be used to redeem this Pikachu for Pokémon Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon, which come out on November 17.

Celebi is an event-only Pokémon, meaning you probably don’t have one unless you were in the right place at the right time or you’re a cheater. Yesterday (September 13), during a Nintendo Direct stream, it was revealed that players will soon have another chance to get the legendary Celebi. The method to obtaining it is a little unorthodox, but follow the instructions below and you’ll have no problem.

For this event, Celebi will be distributed via Mystery Gift code. Each player will get a unique code that can only be used once. You will receive your Celebi code upon purchasing Pokémon Gold or Silver from the 3DS eShop, which become available on September 22. Once you have purchased Gold or Silver, click the “Menu” button in the top-left corner in the eShop. Once in the Menu, click “Settings/Other” and then “Account Activity.” Choose to “View Receipt” for your Gold or Silver purchase. The Celebi code will be in the purchase details of the receipt.

Once you have the code, you can enter it into Mystery Gift to receive Celebi. Celebi can be attained in your Pokémon Sun or Moon game as soon as you get the code, or you can hang on to the code for a couple of months and use it to get a Celebi in Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon. To get Celebi, write down or memorize the code from your Gold or Silver receipt. In your SunMoonUltra Sun or Ultra Moon game, choose “Mystery Gift” from the main menu. Click “Receive Gift” and then “Get with Code/Password.” Then, click “Yes” and then “Yes” again. Enter the code once prompted to do so. Your game will receive the Mystery Gift. Now play the game and talk to the delivery man in any Pokémon Center to receive Celebi. Then you should probably save your game.

The Celebi that you will get from this event will be level 30 and will have the ability Natural Cure. It will have the moves Heal Bell, Safeguard, Ancient Power and Future Sight. You will be able to get a code for Celebi as long as you purchase Gold or Silver from the eShop sometime from September 22, 2017 through September 21, 2018. The code is redeemable until October 31, 2018. Also, The Pokémon Company wants to make sure people know that Celebi will NOT be attainable in Gold or Silver in this way; the code will only get you a Celebi in SunMoonUltra Sun or Ultra Moon.

The latest event for Pokémon Sun and Moon is for a shiny version of the legendary Pokémon Tapu Koko. To obtain this shiny, legendary Pokémon, you will need to select “Mystery Gift” from your Sun or Moon main menu instead of “Continue.” Once in Mystery Gift, you will be asked how you wish to receive your gift. State that you want to receive the gift via internet. After the gift has been received by your game, you will need to go back to the main menu and select “Continue.” Now, while in the game, go to any Pokémon Center and talk to the deliveryman, who will give you the shiny Tapu Koko.

The shiny Tapu Koko will be level 60 and know the moves Nature’s Madness, Discharge, Agility and Electro Ball. Tapu Koko will also be holding the item Electric Seed, which boosts its holder’s defense when there is Electric Terrain. Luckily, Tapu Koko has the ability Electric Surge, which creates an Electric Terrain upon entering the battlefield.
