One of the most asked questions on the internet about the new games Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is how to get the special Rockruff that can evolve into a Dusk Form Lycanroc. In short, this Rockruff can be attained through the games’ Mystery Gift feature. A more in-depth explanation on how this works can be found below.
To receive a special Rockruff, start up your game and select “Mystery Gift” from the game’s main menu instead of “Continue.” Once you are in the Mystery Gift menu, select “Receive Gift,” then select “Get via Internet.” You will be asked about connecting to the internet, to which you should respond “Yes.” You will see your game pick up the Rockruff as a Mystery Gift. Now, continue your game and go to any Pokémon Center, where a delivery man in an orange and blue shirt will be waiting for you. Talk to him and he will give you your special Rockruff.
This Rockruff will be on Level 10, holding a Focus Band and will know the moves Tackle, Bite and Happy Hour. If you are playing Ultra Sun, this Rockruff will also know Fire Fang, whereas it will know Thunder Fang if you’re playing Ultra Moon. The thing that makes this Rockruff “special,” however, is the fact that it has the ability Own Tempo, since only a Rockruff with Own Tempo can evolve into Dusk Form Lycanroc and this is the only known way to get a Rockruff with Own Tempo. This special Rockruff will only be obtainable via Mystery Gift through January 10, 2018, so make sure you get it soon.
