Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon don’t release for another two weeks, but this weekend you can get a head start by receiving an event QR code to be able to receive Ash’s Pikachu in the games once they come out.

You may have heard about the 20th Pokémon movie, Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! The plot of the movie is a retelling of how Ash met his Pikachu for the first time in the anime. The movie will be shown in theaters this Sunday, November 5, and Monday, November 6. If you attend one of these showings, you will be given a QR code to be used to redeem Ash’s Pikachu, which is a Pikachu wearing Ash’s hat from the new movie, in your future copy of Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon. Follow the instructions below to successfully attain this Pikachu.

First, you will obviously want to make sure that you attend the new movie in theaters on November 5 or 6 and receive a QR code. Then you will have to hang on to the code until November 17, which is when Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon come out. Once you have your copy of the game, begin playing it. On the game’s main menu, click the option that says “Mystery Gift” instead of “New Game.” If “Mystery Gift” is not yet an option, then click “New Game” and play through the game until you receive Mystery Gift capabilities. Once you have received Mystery Gift capabilities, save your game and turn it off. Turn it back on and select “Mystery Gift” from the main menu instead of “Continue.” Next, select “Receive Gift” and then “Get with Code/Password.” You will be asked two questions, to which you will respond “Yes” both times. Once prompted to enter a code, enter the QR code you received from the theater when you attended the showing of the movie. After entering the code, you should see your gift enter your game. Now exit Mystery Gift and select “Continue” from the main menu. In the game, go to any Pokémon Center, where a Delivery Man will be waiting for you. Talk to the Delivery Man and he will give you your Pikachu as long as there is enough room in your party. Then save your game to make sure you don’t lose it.
