Stack XP Boosts and Fortify Armor

The first thing you’ll want to do is stack as many Smithing XP boosts as you can. Since Smithing is part of the Warrior class, activate the Warrior Stone. If you can, you’ll also want to equip the Aetherial Crown and activate the Lover Stone. With both of these Standing Stones active, you’ll be getting an extra 35% to leveling your Smithing skill.

• Warrior Stone: 20% bonus to all Warrior-related skills, including Smithing. Use with Lover Stone with Aetherial Crown for 35% bonus.
• Lover Stone: 15% bonus to all skills. Use with Mage Stone and Aetherial Crown for 35% bonus.

You’ll also want to find and equip any armor you can that fortifies Smithing. If you get 100 Enchanting, you can create fortify Smithing items for yourself. The fortify Smithing enchantment can be found in the following places:

• Silver-Blood Family Ring
• The Forgemaster’s Fingers
• Notched Pickaxe (does not bear the enchantment itself, but has the same effect)
• Armor sold by Blacksmiths or General Goods Merchants
• Armor looted from chests and various enemies

Craft Gold Rings

Now that you have everything set, the trick to power leveling Smithing to 100 fast is to craft gold rings. Gold rings only require 1 gold ingot to create. With the Transmute Mineral Ore Alteration spell, you can turn iron ingots into gold ingots. Transmute Mineral Ore can be found on a table in Halted Stream Camp northwest of Whitewatch Tower which is north of Whiterun.

All you need to do now is acquire iron ore, turn it into gold ore, turn the gold ore into gold ingots, and create gold rings. Iron ore can be purchased from blacksmiths in each town. Use your Transmute Mineral Ore spell to turn the iron ore to silver ore and then to gold ore. Once that is done, go to a smelter and create gold ingots. Then, go to a forge and create gold rings. Sell the gold rings and repeat the process.

Stack XP Boosts and Mana Reduction

First off, you’ll want to stack all of the Destruction XP boosts you can. This includes two Standing Stones with the Aetherial Crown equipped. You can also level your Enchanting to 100 and enchant your clothes to reduce the mana required for Description spells. Anything that reduces the mana cost or increases mana regeneration is key. Equip the Aetherial Crown and activate these two Standing Stones:

• Mage Stone: 20% bonus to all Mage-related skills, including Enchanting. Use with Lover Stone with Aetherial Crown for 35% bonus.
• Lover Stone: 15% bonus to all skills. Use with Mage Stone and Aetherial Crown for 35% bonus.

Cast Destruction Spells

I know, it seems obvious, but the trick is to do it continuously on your horse. Though this trick works best with Shadowmere, the horse given to you at the end of the Dark Brotherhood quests, any horse will do. Simply cast any Destruction spell on your horse until it is low health or your mana runs out. Once the horse is at low health, wait 1 hour, and start again. You can also work on your Alteration magic by healing the horse.

This method is a bit grind-y, but it is the quickest way to power level Destruction in Skyrim. This trick only works on a horse owned by you because it won’t run away when attacked. The XP gained from Destruction spells is based on the cost of the spell and the damage inflicted, so look for the lowest mana cost spell that does the highest amount of damage.

Best Ways to Level Up Enchanting Fast in Skyrim

Stack XP Boosts

The first thing you’ll want to do to make leveling Enchanting a breeze is stacking all of the XP boosts you can. Though only one Standing Stones, one of the best XP boosts in the game, can be active at a time, the Aetherial Crown acquired through the Aetherial Forge allows for two Standing Stones at a time. Here are all of the Enchanting XP boosts you’ll want to immediately get:

• Mage Stone: 20% bonus to all Mage-related skills, including Enchanting. Use with Lover Stone with Aetherial Crown for 35% bonus.
• Lover Stone: 15% bonus to all skills. Use with Mage Stone and Aetherial Crown for 35% bonus.
• Ahzidal’s Armor Set: 10% bonus to Enchanting when the full set is equipped. Acquired in Solstheim.

Disenchanting

The best advice for leveling Enchanting fast in Skyrim is disenchanting. Disenchanting has two perks: one, it gives you a lot of Enchanting XP every time you do it, and two, you’ll keep all of the Enchantments you disenchant. If you have a lot of items that you know you won’t use, disenchant them to level up your Enchanting and then enchant other items later with the same enchantments for even more Enchanting XP.

Learn From an Enchanting Trainer

Once per level, you can increase your Enchanting level by 5 by learning from an Enchanting Trainer. Of course, this will cost a good amount of money, but it is worth it to level Enchanting fast. There are three Enchanting Trainers in Skyrim:

• Sergius Turrianus – College of Winterhold – Level 75
• Hamal – Temple of Dibella, Markarth – Level 90
• Neloth – Tel Mithryn, Solstheim – Level 90

Avoid Reading Enchantment Books Until After Level 90

One of the best tips to leveling your Enchanting to 100 fast and efficiently is to avoid reading any Enchantment book until after Level 90. As previously discussed, you can level your Enchanting from trainers up to Level 90. After Level 90, it will take a long time for you to enchant and disenchant gear to get to Level 100 Enchanting. Reading Enchantment books will automatically raise your Enchanting level by 1. Here are the books you’ll want to avoid until level 90 and then hunt down:

• Catalogue of Armor Enchantments
• Catalogue of Weapon Enchantments
• Enchanter’s Primer
• Twin Secrets
• The Oghma Infinium

How to Download Skyrim Together Reborn Multiplayer Mod

First off, we sadly must inform you that the Skyrim Together Reborn mod is only available on PC. If you do have a PC, the first step you’ll need to do is make sure your version of Skyrim Special Edition or Anniversary Edition is up to date. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Right-click on your version of Skyrim on Steam.
2. Click on Properties.
3. Click Updates.
4. Ensure that it says “Always keep this game updated”.

You should now have the latest version of Skyrim on Steam. With that done, all you need to do now is create an account on the Nexus Mods website. Though it isn’t required, having a mod manager makes the entire process of getting mods from Nexus Mods a breeze. We recommend using Vortex as it is tied neatly to Nexus Mods, is super easy to use, and will help you with any Nexus Mods in the future.

The first mod you’ll need in order for Skyrim Together Reborn to work properly is Address Library for SKSE Plugins. Follow these instructions to do that:

1. Open Vortex.
2. Navigate to the Files tab of the Address Library for SKSE Plugins mod page.
3. Select the Mod Manager Download button under the “All in One” listing. Make sure to download the right edition whether that be the Special edition or the Anniversary Edition.
4. In Vortex, select Install.
5. When prompted, select Enable.

How to Launch Skyrim Together Reborn Multiplayer Mod

Now that you’ve got some practice downloading the Address Library for SKSE Plugins, you can repeat the process for Skyrim Together Reborn. Follow the exact same steps as described above to download Skyrim Together Reborn. Now that the mod is installed, you’ll need to launch it in a different way. Here is how to launch Skyrim Together Reborn:

1. Go to your edition of Skyrim in your Steam Library.
2. Right-click the game’s title.
3. Hover over Manage.
4. Click Browse local files.
5. In the File Explorer window that appears, open the Data folder.
6. Open the SkyrimTogetherReborn folder.
7. Click the SkyrimTogether.exe file.
8. In the window that opens, click your SkyrimSE.exe file from your Skyrim installation folder (this allows SkyrimTogether.exe to hook into the regular Skyrim executable).
9. Click the SkyrimTogether.exe file again to launch Skyrim with the mod.

The easiest way for you to do this in the future is to create a shortcut. Once you are at the last step, right-click the SkyrimTogethere.exe file, click Show more options, and then click Create shortcut. Now, you have an easy way to access Skyrim Together Reborn from your desktop.

How to Make a Skyrim Together Reborn Server

As if you haven’t jumped through enough hoops already, you’ll need to create a server on PlayTogether. If you get there and the service is down, you may need to wait a day or two. Creating the type of server you want is as easy as picking the parameters. After pressing Launch, you will need to write down your server’s IP address and password.

How to Start Skyrim Together Reborn Multiplayer Mod

With everything ready to go, now you can start your server up and invite your friends. Launch Skyrim Together Reborn, create your character, play through Helgen until you have escaped, then press the right Control key. Here, you’ll need to press Connect, enter your server IP and password, and then press Connect again. Your friends should now be able to join your server.

From the right Control key control panel, you can also create a party which will be nice since you can share quests. Just like your race in an MMO, the weapon and armor you pick in Skyrim can determine your playstyle and how difficult the game is. Trying to fight an endgame boss with a wooden sword can be quite the hard time. But using Chillrend on the same boss will let you have a much easier time.

Heavy Armor

Deadric Armor is the best armor you can get out of a full set, there are some helmets that you can wear that will give you a few more armor points over the Deadric Helmet but for a full armor set the Deadric is the best you will find.

Ebony Mail – 00052794

While the Ebony Mail does not have as high of an armor stat as Daedric Armor it does have some interesting perks that make it worthwhile. For starters it comes with a built-in muffle enchant, which makes you silent when sneaking, thus canceling the negative effects of wearing heavy armor. The armor also features a unique aura ability that applies a five damage per second effect to anybody near you when you are in combat. This will apply to almost every NPC in the game.

Light Armor

Ancient Shrouded Armor – 000E1F15,000E1F17,000E1F16,000E1F14

All of the effects the armor set offers will outclass most other sets of armor in the game. Sneak damage, bow damage, poison resistance, and muffled steps are all given to you when you are wearing the full set. You can mix and match this set with the basic shrouded armor set to get exactly what you want and you don’t have to worry about messing up your look.

Nightingale Armor – 000FCC0F,000FCC0D,000FCC11,000FCC12

Another really solid light armor set that provides a bunch of perks when worn. This set can be worn by any thief and even by some mages as it offers spell cost reduction. Wearing the full set will give you 40 extra stamina points, 50% frost resistance, the muffled effect, 25% easier lockpicking, 25% more damage on one-handed attacks, and a 17% cost reduction on illusion spells. While you may not get much of a benefit on the spell cost reduction if you are playing as a thief, it can be nice to have if you are multiclassing.

Daggers

Blade of Woe – 0009CCDC

Featuring both high base damage and a decent enchantment, this is a solid dagger to use. The enchantment it has gives you a little bit of lifesteal in combat which can give you the edge in any tough fight. It does not have a lot of charges to use with its enchantment but if you wear some jewelry to decrease the charges used it can be quite useful.

Mehrunes’ Razor -000240D2

This dagger does only one less damage than the Blade of Woe but its enchant’s usefulness is based on luck. Mehrunes’ Razor’s enchant has a 2% chance of activating each time it is swung. If the enchantment activates it will instantly kill whatever it hits, no matter what it is. Even bosses can install die if hit with this dagger. It works well as an offhand weapon as the damage is on the higher end of all daggers.

Maces

Mace of Molag Bal – 000233E3

This mace drains 25 points of the target’s stamina and magicka with each swing as well as casting soul trap on the target for 3 seconds. It also has the second most base damage for maces in the game. The mace is great for filling up soul gems and dealing with any trick mages that like to throw up a ward.

One-Handed Swords

Chillrend – 000F8318

With a chance to paralyze the target for two seconds with each swing and dealing 30 frost damage to health and stamina, this sword is a great option for any build. Paralysis can chain in Skyrim, so there is always a chance to chain paralyze your enemy and win the fight with ease. The extra health and stamina damage will also make any melee battle swing in your favor.

Nightingale Blade – 000F6527

Pairing nicely with the Nightingale armor set, this blade also has a special enchantment on it. Each swing from this sword will absorb 25 health and stamina points from your target, making it similar to the Blade of Woe but slightly better. Of course, a sword does not swing as fast as a dagger so it might be a bit slower at healing you but in a drawn-out fight, this sword does have more charges than the Blade of Woe.

Battleaxes

Tsun’s Battleaxe – 0005BF19

This battleaxe is only obtainable with console commands as it is an NPC-only weapon. The weapon doesn’t have any special enchantments but does have the most damage of all the battleaxes in the game.

Wuuthrad – 000956B5

This battleaxe is perfect for someone that really hates any of the elves in Skyrim as its special effect is to do more damage against any elf. This is not an enchantment so you can apply one of your own on top of the extra elf damage to make this quite the strong battleaxe.

Greatswords

Bloodskal Blade – xx01aea4 (the first two digits can change depending on what mods you have installed)

The interesting part of this greatsword is the energy blast that you can fire out of it. The blast will cover about 15 feet and can go through walls. The blast will be horizontal or vertical depending on how you swing the sword. The energy wave can also go through walls and hit multiple enemies at once, giving you a bit of a ranged option for your melee build.

Warhammers

Volendrung – 0002ACD2

The basic enchantment on this Warhammer allows you to absorb 50 stamina with each swing. This works well for a Warhammer build as you will want to mostly be power attacking with this weapon type.

Trollsbane – 0006AF63

this Warhammer has a custom fire enchantment on it that only affects trolls. However, you can upgrade this Warhammer the same way you would a normal steel Warhammer. This is a great hammer for the early game since that is when you will have the most trouble dealing with trolls.

Bows

Karliah’s Bow – 000DEED8

This bow is another NPC-only weapon, meaning you can only get this with the use of console commands. The main reason you will want to use this bow is that it has the highest base damage in the game of all bows. While other bows can get higher damage than Karliah’s Bow, without smithing them you won’t find a bow better than this.

Nightingale Bow – 000F652C

IF you are willing to upgrade a bow, then look no further than the Nightingale Bow. On top of decent damage, the enchantments on this bow add an extra 30 points of frost damage and 15 points of shock damage on top of your arrow damage. All around a solid bow for any archer build.

Shields

Dragonscale Shield – 00013941

For light armor, you can find no better shield in base Skyrim than this. this has the second highest armor rating of all the light shields in the game, being only .5 armor below the DLC shield.

Stalhrim Shield – xx026237 (Depending on what mods you have installed the first two numbers can change)

This is the best light armor shield in the game. If you apply the resist frost enchantment to this child it will be 25% more effective than any other shield with it applied to it.

Daedric Shield – 0001396E

This is the best heavy armor shield in the game. No other heavy armor shield can compare to the base armor stat of the Daedric shield.

While the world of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is mainly designed for questing, adventuring, and monster slaying, that doesn’t mean there’s not any time for the Dragonborn to find a husband/wife and settle down with a home of their own. Marriage is an exciting aspect of Skyrim that actually provides quite a few benefits. If you want to learn how to get married in Skyrim, then this guide will teach you everything you need to know.

How to Get Married in Skyrim

In order to get married in Skyrim, you need to visit the Temple of Mara in Riften. Inside, speak to the priest and ask about weddings. They’ll explain how the marriage process works and then prompt you to buy an Amulet of Mara, a mandatory item for a wedding.

To propose to that special someone, wear the Amulet of Mara and speak to the person you’d like to marry. If they are a possible marriage partner, then you will see a dialogue option asking them to marry you. Once they agree, return to the Temple of Mara to request a wedding. Then, wait 24 hours and leave the Temple of Mara and you will receive an objective telling you to “attend your wedding ceremony.”

After the marriage ceremony is complete, you can talk to your new spouse and decide where you would like them to go. This can be a purchased house in a city like Whiterun, or it can be a custom-built home from the Hearthfire DLC. Any place of residence will do. They’ll remain in the chosen location forever, waiting for you to come and visit. You can always ask them to move later, so don’t fret if you haven’t built your dream home just yet.

Why should you get married in Skyrim? With all the adventures to be had, what’s the point of tying the knot? Well, if you have your partner move into a custom home from the Hearthfire DLC, then you can ask them to prepare a Homecooked Meal once per day. This meal will boost your Health, Magic, and Stamina by 25% for 10 minutes, making it one of the most effective healing items in the game.

Then there’s the Lover’s Comfort buff, which boosts skill learning speed by 15% for 8 hours after you sleep in the same home as your spouse. This is the same buff as the one granted by the Lover Stone, so if you have that buff currently active, you cannot receive the Lover’s Comfort buff.  It does stack with the buffs from the Mage, Warrior, and Thief Stones, however. Feel free to go and find another Standing Stone buff now that you’re happily married.

There are also other minor benefits to having a spouse in Skyrim. For example, your partner may occasionally surprise you with a small gift. Your spouse can also set up a store somewhere and bring you 100 Gold per day, earning you some passive income.

How to Adopt a Child in Skyrim

While you can’t have a child of your own in Skyrim (although there are some risque mods for such activities), you can adopt a child for you and your spouse. In order to adopt a child, you must have either a house with a children’s bedroom or a homestead furnished with a bed and chest.

You can adopt most children that you find roaming the streets in major cities as long as they don’t already have a family. If you want to find an adoptable child guaranteed, then you can head to the Honorhall Orphanage in Riften and choose from the children there.

You can’t do this until you complete the quest Innocence Lost and kill the headmistress, Grelod the Kind, however. This is the beginning of the Dark Brotherhood questline in Skyrim, and once Grelod is out of the picture, the children of the orphanage will be in need of new homes. To adopt an eligible child, just select the dialogue option and they will automatically agree and go to your place of residence.

The vanilla experience can result in hundreds of hours of playtime for gamers, while mods add hundreds of more hours to that endeavor. Fortify Smithing Potion

Crafting weapons and armor is one of the primary ways the Dragonborn gets their hands on some of the absolute best equipment in Skyrim. To that end, this potion applies the Fortify Smithing buff to the player-character for 30 seconds, allowing gamers to improve weapons at a grindstone and armor at a workbench considerably more. If wearing armor imbued with the Fortify Smithing enchantment (which can be made even more powerful with the next potion on this list), this effect compounds. Fortify Archery (Marksman) Potion

Fortify & Restore Health Potion

If using Restoration Magic is not on a Dragonborn’s list of go-to skills, Fortify & Restore Health potions become far more useful. On higher difficulties, even with highly effective armor, stronger opponents can be irritatingly strong. Thus, potions that increase and refill health are an important addition to the Dragonborn’s inventory. A substantial stock of this potion can aid players in their endless quest for ridding Skyrim of all its evildoers (or goody two shoes, depending on one’s moral compass.

Resist Elements Potion

Dragons are perpetual encounters throughout Skyrim, with the toughest archetype emerging after players hit roughly level 78. Given these giant beasts’ proclivity for screaming fire, frost, and shock damage, potions that apply Resist Fire, Resist Frost, and Resist Shock go a long way to making these fights much more manageable. The need for these potions assumes one isn’t using some of the best gear with high-level enchantments or powerful magic that does better work than most of the game’s potions. These concoctions are also useful against necromancers and mages.

At first glance, Invisibility potions don’t seem like much of a necessity in Skyrim given how crazy effective the Sneak skill ends up being at higher levels. However, this potion is mostly useful for select moments in the game when sneaking past a guard who is staring straight at the door the Dragonborn needs to enter (hint: the quest to sneak into Goldenglow Estate unnoticed early in the Thieves’ Guild storyline) and refuses to move. There are spells that provide invisibility or other illusionary benefits, though, for those who do not delve into Skyrim’s magics, Invisibility potions work just as well. Be warned, however, that invisibility potions wear off if players commit any action besides moving, including something as simple as opening a door. A bonus benefit is popping an invisibility potion when close to death.

Potion of Pickpocketing

The Pickpocketing skill is one of the easiest to level up in Skyrim. However, the skill’s early levels can cause some frustration when trying to pick someone’s pocket unnoticed. Thus, potions that Fortify Pickpocketing help players nab keys from NPCs or snatch some gold. Getting a head start during the journey’s commencement with some extra money never hurt a young Dragonborn. That said, even the highest levels of Pickpocketing benefit from using this potion, as the chance of successful a successful pickpocket is determined by the value of the target item and whether said item is equipped on the NPC in question. Even with a maxed-out Pickpocket skill tree and Fortify Pickpocketing enchantment bonuses on armor, there is still a chance of being caught. Thus, using this potion essentially raises the chances of a successful pickpocket to 100%, unless stealing a mountain’s worth of gold.

Potion of Lockpicking

Getting through locks is one of the most essential skills in the Elder Scrolls. In Skyrim’s early- and mid-game, potions that Fortify Lockpicking help players get through some of the more difficult locks while scavenging treasure in crypts, whether opening a Master chest or getting through a door blocking the way to some valuable loot. More than that, lockpicking certain doors makes dungeon crawling much easier, as they often unlock shortcuts. If lockpicks are something one is struggling to accumulate and they wish to preserve as many as they can, lockpicking potions can help. A high lockpicking skill with a maxed out perk tree eliminates the need for this potion, but during the early game, it’s valuable.

Regeneration Potions

Magicka, Health, and Stamina are the three primary stats in Skyrim. Whether a sneaky archer, two-handed battleaxe (Wuuthrad) wielder, or daring battlemage, at least two of these three stats will always be important. As a result, potions that increase Magicka, Health, and/or Stamina Regeneration keep Dragonborns in the fight for longer or allow them to sprint further distances with quicker recovery intervals. Combine these potions with the aforementioned Resist and Fortify potions and players will find themselves with seemingly endless pools of these three stats.

Potion of Cure Disease

For gamers who do not wish to become a vampire or werewolf, Skyrim is fraught with diseases. It seems like around every corner lies some illness waiting to plague the Dragonborn. Vampires and werewolves are immune to such petty mortal sicknesses, but for those who choose not to help the Companions or join Harkon’s family in the Dawnguard DLC, the Cure Disease potion is a godsend. Ensuring one has plenty of this mixture in their inventory is crucial to keeping the Dragonborn healthy. Thus, picking up every garlic bulb a gmaer comes across while traversing Skyrim’s many terrains is pivotal to keeping Cure Disease potions in great supply.

While potions can be incredibly useful in Skyrim, with the right build, they become utterly unnecessary. The only potions that really matter are the first two on this list (Fortify Smithing and Fortify Enchanting), as they allow players to craft some truly magnificent and powerful gear. Everything else is secondary and rather unnecessary, unless looking to get a leg up during a character’s early progression.

Update 1.22 has arrived for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and here are all the changes and fixes added with this patch. This update fixes a wide array of bugs and glitches across all platforms. PlayStation players in particular will be very happy with this patch as it addresses the 0kb space issue that has been affecting the game on PS4 and PS5 for some people. For Xbox players, a bug has been fixed that would force players’ names to be the default “Prisoner” when creating a character. Welcome back, Dragonborns! Skyrim: Anniversary Edition is officially out. After 10 years of ups, downs, and more ups, the new edition has so much to offer for new and returning players. One of those new editions is new quests, like The Unquiet Dead Quest. In my guide on how to unlock Goldenhills Plantation, I briefly covered how to complete this quest, but here is the deep dive into how to complete the Unquiet Dead Quest in Skyrim.

Before we get started, there are loads of other cool things that Skyrim: Anniversary Edition brings to the table. How to Begin The Unquiet Dead Quest in Skyrim

The Unquiet Dead Quest is tied to unlocking the Goldenhills Plantation, the new farm that can be all yours in Skyrim. Naturally, in order to begin the quest, you will need to discover Goldenhills Plantation. The best way to find it is to start from Rorikstead and travel southwest towards a wheat and sickle emblem on your compass. For a visual cue, look for a silo and a house amidst a grassy expanse. The second you arrive at Goldenhills Plantation, you will be attacked by a ghost. After you kill this ghost, the Unquiet Dead Quest will begin.

After taking out the ghost, on the body, you will find a note that says he’s been poisoned. Upon entering the house, you will want to divert your attention upstairs to Urval’s Journal. In the journal, the tale of how the owners moved out to the country with their boy is told. The couple loses their son and the husband begins to blame the wife of witchcraft and poisoning the son. After reading the journal, you will want to find the wife’s secret chamber in the basement. Find the button on the wall and enter.

Upon entering the secret chamber, you will stumble upon the wife with the husband’s ax through her heart. Be warned that the ghost of the wife will begin attacking you as soon as you enter. Once the ghost is slain, read the wife’s journal. Here, you will see the wife’s view of what happened. She tried using alchemy to save her son, not poison him as the husband insisted. Now knowing that neither of the parents killed the son, head upstairs to the child’s room.

Underneath his bed, you will find the son’s journal. Wanting to make his parents happy, the boy headed off towards the well to fight wolves and bring home a trophy. Make your way to the well by heading south of the house. After you fend off a pack of wolves, you will, unfortunately, find the bones of the boy by the well. Take the courageous boy’s toy sword and return to the house. Once you have placed the sword in the boy’s room, the whole family will appear before you in ghost form to thank you for putting them to rest. As a token of their gratitude, they give you the Goldenhills Plantation.

And with that, you will have completed the Unquiet Dead Quest in Skyrim. Another quest will begin called A Farmer’s Life For Me, which will help you build up a reputable farm you can call your own.

Who would have thought that after 10 years, there would still be new ways to play? There are many new fish to try and collect, but here is how to get Pearlfish in Skyrim.

As mentioned before, Skyrim has a new Anniversary Edition, making it the latest release of The Elder Scrolls V. With it came many new updates, from finding and using Flawed Varla Stone to new questlines like Saints and Seducers. How to Start Fishing

Before all you bright-eyed fisherfolk get to reeling, you’ll need to first find a pole. Luckily, in Skyrim, you won’t need any special kinds of bait, so for that, you’re off the hook. Also, there is no special quest to obtain a fishing rod. The best way to get your hands on a fishing rod is to find one at a designated fishing area throughout the map, buy one from any trader in any city for around 30 gold, or craft one yourself with one iron ingot and firewood at a forge. Once you’ve got that, you’re ready to score some Pearlfish.

Where to Fish

Like I mentioned previously, unlike other games with fishing in them, you can’t just fish anywhere in Skyrim. There are select bodies of water that allow for fishing. If you’re curious about where all of these fishing locations are, check out this guide. Many general stores will carry fishing maps to help you on your way, too. There is also a nice fishing quest that you can do by finding the Fishery in Riften and talking with the owner. Be sure to read all the fishing literature you can, as they will provide helpful tips to become a fishing master.

How to Find and Catch Pearlfish in Skyrim

It is relatively easy to find and catch Pearlfish in Skyrim. Just west of the Dawnstar Sanctuary, you will find the best spot for Pearlfish. Here, you can swim into the water and catch them with your bare hands, or cast your line and earn your reward. Waiting 24 hours will replenish the fish in a given area. You can also find Pearlfish randomly while fishing the Riften river or other parts of the map, but it isn’t a surefire way to catch Pearlfish.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has had the most long-awaited edition yet…fishing…in Skyrim. Yes, you heard that right, fishing has made its appearance in the latest update alongside the Anniversary Edition’s release which players have gleefully installed. Notably, fishing is not new to The Elder Scrolls series, one such example is the fact that The Elder Scrolls Online has had fishing in the experience since its release which players have thoroughly enjoyed adventuring together to do so. Now players of Skyrim can indulge themselves in a similar fashion to the fishing present in the other game and start their fishing journey in the latest update. One particular fish that has been getting the undercurrent on players is the goldfish which appears to enjoy making sure its name makes sense as it is clear to see that finding the fish is akin to finding gold dust. This guide will take you through the process of how and where to catch goldfish in Skyrim.

How to Start Fishing in Skyrim

Before catching the goldfish, you’ll have to make sure you actually can start fishing. This can be done by going to the Creation Club and downloading the ‘Fishing’ creation. After you have installed the pack, to gain the first quest you will need to find ‘fishing supplies’. One of these areas can be found by firstly travelling to the Guardian Stone near Riverwood. If you turn towards the South-West on the compass, you will spot a small indent next to the lake where a camp is set up. Walk towards the camp and pick up the fishing rod and the books, items, and equipment sitting around. There will be a ‘Fishing Supplies’ crate in the camp which you should activate, catch one fish and the quest ‘Angler Acquaintances’ will start.

If you’d like to have a chat with the NPC, be sure to do that too before continuing onwards in the goldfish odyssey. There have been a few glitches tied to the Anniversary Edition such as a black screen but hopefully, this won’t happen while you are going for the goldfish.

Where to Catch Goldfish in Skyrim and How to Catch Them

Now that you have got the main fishing supplies and unlocked the fishing experience in Skyrim you can now start to proceed to the particular areas where you will be able to find an abundance of goldfish. One of these places is near Fort Neugrad which you should travel to. The fastest way to catch goldfish is quite literally jumping into the pond and catching them with your hands if you are looking for a quick way to catch them as there will be three in total that spawn at a time.

However, if you would rather catch them by the way of using the fishing creation then travel to Lake Honrich which is the large body of water near Riften. There will be a set of fishing supplies on the Riften docks which you can use and make sure that is a clear sunny day for catching the goldfish. Begin fishing at the docks and you will be sure to catch a goldfish.

With that said, among the many missions made available to all in Skyrim, the Saints and Seducers storyline really sets itself apart by offering two new main quests, the return of The Shivering Isles’ area, many side quests, as well as a wide array of new weapons, armor, pets, ingredients, and much more.

Here’s how to start the Saints and Seducers questline on both The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition and on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition.

Skyrim: How to Start the Saints and Seducers Questline

To be able to trigger the Saints and Seducers questline in both versions of Skyrim, players need to locate and interact with an NPC called Ri’saad, a Khajiit traveling merchant. Ri’saad can be found in many places, but we advise you to head towards the Khajiit camp located south of Whiterun and wait for him there. Once located, players just need to interact with him and question him about the troubles they have been facing along the road which will prompt him to give them a note. Read the note to trigger the Balance of Power quest, the first part of Saints and Seducers. To recap, here’s how to trigger the Saints and Seducers questline in Skyrim:

• Go to the Khajiit camp located south of Whiterun.
• Fast Forward until Ri’saad appears.
• Talk to him and question him about the troubles along the road.
• Read Ri’saad’s note to begin the quest.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has recently had the release of its Anniversary Edition packed to the brim with an abundance of new quests and things to do. The celebration has continued even to the Special Edition players and, with the release of the latest edition, new adventurers in the land of Skyrim may want to learn where hidden items can be found in the world. The experience has plenty of treasure maps hidden around the world that can be collected and followed to obtain secret treasure in the land. This guide will showcase to you how to get the Skyrim Riverwood treasure.

Skyrim Treasure Map 1 Location

The Riverwood treasure map can be found at a bandit camp southwest of the Guardian Stone near Riverwood on a hilly incline. Between the bucolic swaying trees, there will be an inset bandit camp, start to walk up and approach the camp.

From this point, dispatch all the enemies and search them afterwards, one of them will have the treasure map on their corpse which you can then pick up and view. The treasure map itself as shown below showcases an X marking treasure on the opposite of what looks like a river on the map.

Where to Find the Treasure

As seen above, the treasure is displayed on the map with sketchings making up the land around the player. There are three core components and hints to the map. The first hint is that there is a village present down on the bottom half of the treasure map; this village is notably Riverwood due to its shape and structure, also showing the bridge at the side of the village.

The second hint on the map is the river which is precisely the shape of the river near the village, furthermore, the arrow points across the river indicating that the treasure is indeed on the opposite side of the serene river in Skyrim.

The third hint is the one that will lead players to the treasure. Where the X is marked on the map, an image of a tree is showcased by an arrow, the tree sketch shows an X on the inside of the tree leading players to know that the treasure will be found on the inside of a hollowed tree which will now ensure players have all the hints they need to find the treasure.

The treasure can be found at the location showcased on the map below, opposite the river at Riverwood.

What Are the Contents of the Riverwood Treasure?

Once you have opened the treasure itself you will find a vast array of diverse items. There will be a common soul gem, 105 gold, a Refined Moonstone, a ruby, and a silver ring all on offer to collect and utilise in the experience. The ruby can also be sold for 200 gold if you are looking for some extra gold for your character.

If I told you that you could start your own farm in Skyrim 10 years ago, you’d say I was crazy. Today, with the new Skyrim: Anniversary Edition, you can do just that. There are actually many farm locations in Skyrim, but in this guide, I will show you not how to find other villagers’ farms but how to start your own farm on the expansive plains of Whiterun.

With things like taming wild horses (which would go great with your new farm), new magical stones like Flawed Varla and Welkynd, and of course fishing, the new edition has a lot in store for new and returning players. With the new Anniversary Edition, Skyrim has so many new mods that change how people play. Skyrim Farm Location

In order to start a farm, you have to know where it is. You will want to start at a small town called Rorikstead which is in the middle between Whiterun and Markarth. From there, you will want to travel south-southeast until you see a symbol of wheat and a sickle. For visual indicators, look for a silo and a house in the middle of fields and you’ll find it in no time. Once you’re close enough, you will have discovered Goldenhills Plantation, which is the area in which you can create your own farm.

How to Start a Farm in Skryim

Upon reaching Goldenhills Plantation, you will immediately fight a Ghost. After dispatching that, you will receive a quest called The Unquiet Dead. Without spoiling the quest too much, you will need to find out what happened to the family that was living on this farm and help their spirits lay to rest. After you have completed this quest, you will receive another called A Farmer’s Life For Me. Through this quest, you’ll be guided on how to successfully start and grow your own farm from the ground up.

First, you will need to plant crops, which will be an essential resource if you are playing on Survival Mode. Next, you will need to hire a steward to tend to the farm. Lastly, you’ll pay for upgrades to your farm to expand it even further to include things like stables and an alchemy/enchanting lab.

With that, you have all the tools necessary to get your farm started in Skyrim. Whether you’re looking for a homestead in the hills, need extra plants for Survival Mode, or just want to role-play as a farmer/fisher, the Goldenhills Plantation addition is a fun one.

What is the Goldbrand Katana?

The Goldbrand Katana in Skyrim is one of the best weapons in the game. Besides looking really cool, as it is a gold katana wrapped in flames, it does a significant amount of damage to enemies. The reason that makes it so special is it burns your opponent for 30 points of damage and, once the target is on fire, the weapon’s damage increases. A weapon worthy of a mighty Dragonborn, it is still quite a challenge to get.

How do I Get the Goldbrand Katana?

The first thing you’ll need to do is travel to the Sacellum of Boethia just east of Windhelm. On approach, you will find cultists who kill a woman named Eranya. You will receive a quest called A Matter of Pride as you get closer to the woman. This will lead you to the Goldbrand Katana. This is a dangerous quest, so make sure you have potions and some good armor before beginning.

The first stop is Sivdur’s Respite. Within, you will face some angry cultists, and just as a fair warning, if these enemies prove difficult, be sure to level up your fighting before returning as these enemies will be the easiest to dispatch along the quest. After traveling to Winterhold and Whiterun, you’ll receive Sidvur’s Amulet which is half of what you’ll need to open to the final tomb.

Shroud Hearth Barrow is your next destination. Beware of traps and Draugrs here, as there are plenty of both. You will also go head to head with a Dragon Priest-like boss, so if you haven’t been warned already, be warned: this will be very difficult. A Sapphire Claw will help you reach other parts of this barrow, but if you don’t have it you can always come back later.

With Magrathi’s Skull, you will be able to open the tomb at Sivdur’s Respite. After battling some beefy Draugrs and avoiding more traps, you’ll reach the final room with the Goldbrand Katana in it. As soon as you pick it up, the hardest Draugrs so far, named Sivdur’s Honor Guard, will attack you. As always, if you don’t already know, utilize the Quick Save function before a fight to make sure you don’t lose all your recent progress when you die.

And, at long last, you have gotten the Goldbrand Katana. Though it is a tricky one, it is an exceptional weapon to have, especially against enemies susceptible to fire.

Skyrim Anniversary Edition is out now and it gives you, against all odds, yet a legitimate reason to jump back into one of the most whimsical and enthralling worlds ever created. Despite it being released 10 years ago, Skyrim has maintained a foothold in the videogame world like few others have managed. If you look on Steam, Skyrim routinely finds itself near the top of the charts, and with the VR release a few years ago, there is still plenty of ways to explore the world of Skyrim and have it feel like a new experience.

Modders have done most of the legwork in keeping this game relevant for so long though, and Bethesda is no stranger to this knowledge. In order to get this quest up and running, first, you have to venture to the lands of Solestheim which is part of the larger province of Morrowind. In order to get there though, you first need to trigger an event that will unlock travel there. Generally, starting the main questline will lead to this event triggering.

The event in question has two Dragon Cultists attack you and once you read the note on them, you will be able to access the Northern Maiden ship outside of Windhelm located by the docks to the right of the entrance. Once there, take the ship and head to the sun-soaked sands of Solstheim and specifically, Raven Rock.

Once you get to Raven Rock, the first thing you’ll see is a large temple at the top of a staircase. That is our objective, so head up there and go inside. Once inside, take the stairs down and enter your first door on the right. Go into the small bedroom here and you will see a table on the left of the bed with two books on it. Read the one titled Heretic’s Dossier: Blacksmith’s Confessional to begin the quest.

They are glowing white magical stones created by ancient high elves that have magical properties. Varla Stones are very rare to find considering how powerful they are, but Flawed Varla Stones are more common. In turn, they aren’t as powerful, but they still come in handy. What Does Flawed Varla Stone Do in Skyrim?

The Flawed Varla Stone in Skyrim can be compared to a Common Soul Gem, but in reality, they are much better. More similar to the Daedric artifact Azura’s Star, Flawed Varla Stones can be recharged instead of filling once and breaking. Although they can’t hold great souls, they are incredibly useful for enchanting because they have the ability to basically replace Common Soul Gems. And we all know you have around 18 of those pesky gems taking up space in your pockets. They are also pretty valuable and can be sold for 1000 gold.

Where Can I Find Flawed Varla Stone in Skryim?

There are basically two ways to find Flawed Varla Stone in Skyrim. The first is getting lucky and finding them in random chests. This method is completely random as can therefore be pretty unreliable. The second way is Khajiit trade caravans. These traders go city to city and sell items to wandering travelers. Here, Flawed Varla Stones can be purchased for 1000 gold.

Without going too deep into the Elder Scrolls lore, the Welkynd Stones were created by an ancient race of high elves for the purpose of enchanting glass and artificial materials. They were said to be used to harness and store magicka through the stars.

What Do Welkynd Stones Do in Skyrim?

As hinted at, Welkynd Stone in Skyrim can restore magicka. The cool thing about them is they don’t just restore your magicka a little bit, they restore it fully. The downside is that the stones get destroyed in the process, so only use them against your toughest foes when you need it most. Also, if you aren’t a magic user, they can be sold for 50 gold. An ancient vessel that carries untold magicka from the heavens, or 50 gold… you decide. It is an RPG after all.

Where Can I Find Welkynd Stones in Skryim?

Welkynd Stones can be hard to find naturally in Skyrim, as they are only in the game because of the new edition. The location of the stones follows Elder Scrolls lore, so they won’t be unnaturally thrown into random dungeons and caves. Instead, Welkynd Stones are said to be found in places of magical study: the Archmage’s Quarters, Arcaneum, and Enthir’s room in the Hall of Attainment all at the College of Winterhold, one of the bedrooms at Fellglow Keep, and in Sybille Stentor’s room in the Blue Palace at Solitude.

So, you want to find and tame horses in Skyrim? With the newest edition of the game, you can do just that. They can be difficult to find, but once you do, you can have your pick and tame one of the wild beasts. Here’s how to do just that.

How to Find Wild Horses

In Skyrim: Anniversary Edition, there are new wild horses that you can tame. One of the best ways to begin finding and taming wild horses is acquiring the Horse Whisperer quest, which can be found at any stables. The quest will grant you a Map of Wild Horses and a book called Wild Horse Notes, which will be your best guide to finding all of the wild horses.

There are seven wild horses in all, and you can tame each one. Two recommended things that’ll serve you well before trekking out to claim your horsies are a decent Sneak level and the Detect Life spell. Detect Life will be useful in locating the horse when you are close to the mark on the map. From there, you will want to sneak up to the horse because it can get startled and run away.

How to Tame Wild Horses

To tame the wild horse, all you have to do is mount it and hold on for dear life until it stops bucking. Once you have done that, you’ve successfully tamed a wild horse. You can bring it to a stable to give it a saddle and a name. If you get off of it for a different mount before taking it to the stables, the horse will go back to the original spot it was found and need to be re-tamed.

Wild Horse Locations in Skyrim

Here are all of the locations for the seven wild horses. If you want the pleasure of finding them yourself with your own hard work and determination, beware of spoilers ahead.

Find and tame the Black Horse

This horse can be found northwest of Falkreath, just south of the map marker for Evergreen Grove. The book refers to nearby ruins, presumably referring to the Roadside Ruins to the southeast. This location is close to a necromancer’s ritual site, and the resident necromancer might interrupt the taming process if you get too close.

Find and tame the Chestnut Horse

This horse can be found east of Helgen, along the path leading to South Skybound Watch. This is just off the road, but be careful not to wander too far east lest you stumble into the nearby Falkreath Stormcloak Camp (if it currently exists).

Find and tame the Dapple Brown Horse

This horse can be found in the forest south of Solitude Sawmill, across the river but before you reach the dragon mound. This can obviously be a dangerous place to tame a horse if the dragon is still nearby.

Find and tame the Grey Spotted Horse

This horse can be found up the hill to the north of Salvius Farm. Beware the nearby sabre cats who will attack you and the horse if you get too close.

Find and tame the Pale Mare

This horse can be found among a group of snowy pines just south of Yngol Barrow.

Find and tame the Red Horse

This horse can be found on the plains of Whiterun Hold, northwest of Whiterun Stables. It is a very easy mount to locate and tame, particularly at the start of the game.

Find and tame the White Spotted Horse

This horse can be found directly west of Stony Creek Cave, west of the road, on a green cliff overlooking the volcanic tundra below.

What is the Skyrim Black Screen Glitch?

The Skyrim black screen glitch is effectively a crash that will keep a black screen present when the game crashes, however, in-game music will continue to play in the background which has kept players thinking that it may simply be a loading screen.

The glitch itself will likely be getting investigated by Bethesda Game Studios due to the fact that it is a crash and these are high-priority defects that are usually investigated as soon as possible by developers.

How to Fix the Black Screen Glitch

The screen glitch can be fixed by a variety of methods. The first of which is to disable mods in Skyrim. There has been significant reporting on the linking between mods and the crash being caused. Disabling mods which are follower mods have been said to work for stopping the black screen glitch from occurring. If this doesn’t work, try disabling all mods for the time being until the glitch is fixed.

Furthermore, if that hasn’t helped the issue, here is a list of other possible fixes that you can utilize for the fixing of the glitch:

• Check for any available updates — Another fix is to check for updates for Skyrim itself, if there are any, be sure to install them and this will likely rectify the issue.
• Restart the Console/System — Attempt to restart the system and this may cause any issues to correct themselves.
• Restart Skyrim Anniversary Edtion — Simply try a restart of the game and it may fix the glitch for you. There have been reports of restarting games sorting issues in the past so trying this step is a simple one to do but one that could provide a great benefit to fixing the glitch.
• Re-install Skyrim Anniversary Edition — If the previous fixes have not worked, you could try re-installing the full game which may assist in fixing the issue, or wait for a developer update to be available soon.

One of which is the inclusion of the Skrim Survival mode for free in the game for all ‘Special Edition’ and ‘Anniversary Edition’ players, where you will be able to take on the world of Skyrim in a whole new light.

How to Turn On Survival Mode in Skyrim

Skyrim’s survival mode can be activated by completing the tutorial area in Helgen and going into the System menu then press Settings. From this point, navigate to Gameplay settings and select Survival Mode. You will now be playing in survival mode.

What is the Skyrim Survival Mode?

The Survival Mode is a Creation that is a gameplay mode altering core components of the experience. It will have you ensuring there is a good shelter for your character and things such as food and other resources. The mode is similar in some ways to Fallout 4’s Survival mode.

It was first released for players around the time of October in 2017 when it was free for the first week and cost 500 Creation Club credits to purchase afterward. However, it is now entirely free once again thanks to the Anniversary Edition’s release.

It should be noted that the Creation can also be linked with the Adventurer’s Backpack and Camping creations which will assist players who want an easier experience in Survival mode and for the authentic feel of the world.

What the Survival Mode Changes

There is a vast and extensive list of changes that survival mode brings to the experience, each one bringing a new gameplay thought to be had for every adventure, here is a list of all of the changes:

• Hunger: In the survival mode, your character will start to be hungry over time which will impact your maximum stamina and also your ability to use certain weapons. In order to keep your hunger at a satisfactory level, eat a range of food and also cooked food that will restore even more hunger. However, ensure not to eat raw meat as there’s a chance you may get food poisoning for your character which would be best to avoid for clear reasons.
• Freezing Water: If you swim in any freezing area in Skyrim, you will get colder and begin taking health damage.
• Disabled Fast Travel: There is no fast travel in survival mode so you will have to make use of alternative transport methods such as carriages or simply by walking or travelling on horseback across the land.
• No Health Regeneration: There is no passive health regeneration in survival mode.
• Levelling Up: In order to level up, players must sleep first to do so.
• Reduced Carry Weight: The Carry Weight has been reduced to an extent and when your character is over the carry weight limit, stamina will be drained much quicker. The ‘Extra Pockets’ perk and ‘The Steed Stone’ now grant 50 extra carry weight in total.
• Disease: There are now even more diseases that can be gained from creatures.
• Afflictions: Along with the new diseases, players can gain afflictions from these.
• Shrine Offerings: Shrines will not cure diseases for free anymore, instead players must spend gold in order to receive the shrine’s benefits with a few exceptions.
• Vampires and Werewolves: Both vampires and werewolves can restore their hunger values by feeding on their kills.
• Standing Stones are less effective: The Standing Stones will not offer the same benefits they used to and instead be at lower values.
• Fatigue: Players will need to sleep in a bed in order to restore fatigue that they may have gained over the course of an adventure.
• Cold: Skyrim is now divided into warm, cold, and freezing climate areas. Traveling in snowy or rainy areas will also increase your Cold value which will decrease your player’s available health.
• Warmth: Following on from the ‘Cold’ addition, there will be a ‘Warmth’ rating that can be raised by wearing warm clothes and the player will gain the effects of the cold environments much slower instead.

These are all of the main changes within Survival Mode, there are also racial passives that have been added to characters when playing through the mode.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition added fishing to the game, but you can only cast your line at preset locations around the province. Each hold has multiple fishing spots with unique fish to find, and you’ll need to find them all if you want to complete the new Catch of the Day quest. Thankfully, fishing in Skyrim is much simpler than it is in other games. The hard part is finding out where you can actually cast a line. Here are all the fishing spots in Skyrim that we’ve discovered so far.

All Skyrim Fishing Locations

Each region of Skyrim has predetermined fishing locations. Fishing spots are marked with Fishing Supplies, which can be interacted with to begin fishing. You can purchase maps of fishing spots for each hold from general goods vendors like Belethor in Whiterun. These are all the Skyrim fishing spots we’ve found so far.

Whiterun Fishing Spots

There are 3 fishing spots in the Whiterun hold. One is just outside Riverwood (described in our fishing guide), the other is south of Riverwood, and the third is way to the west of Bleak Falls Barrow. You can purchase this fishing map from Belethor in Whiterun.

Winterhold Fishing Spots

There are 2 fishing spots in the Winterhold hold. The city is right in the middle of both of them. The first site is to the left along the northern coast, while the second location is to the east of Winterhold near an island a short distance off the coast. You can purchase this fishing map from Belethor in Whiterun.

The Rift Fishing Spots (Riften)

The Rift hold has 5 fishing spots. The first is located just off the Riften docks, and the next two are a short distance to the west of it along the river. The other two are much further upstream near the mountains. You can purchase this fishing map from Belethor in Whiterun.

Haafingar Fishing Spots (Solitude)

The Haafingar hold has 4 fishing spots. Three are located in the river to the south of Solitude, and the last one is located along the northern coast to the northwest of Solitude. You can purchase this fishing map from the general store in Solitude.

Falkreath Fishing Spots

The Falkreath hold has 5 fishing spots and they’re all close together, making this a premier fishing destination.  You can find all five in the huge lake to the north of Falkreath. You can purchase this fishing map from the general store in Falkreath.

The Reach Fishing Spots (Markarth)

The Reach has 4 fishing spots. One is located along the river just outside of Markarth, and the second can be found directly to the south of that one. The other two are southeast of Markarth along the main river. You can purchase this fishing map from the general store in Markarth.

Fishing has come to Skyrim with the release of the Anniversary Edition, and there are new quests and rewards to discover. Fishing is part of a free content update for all Skyrim owners, even those that do not purchase the Anniversary Edition upgrade. Sadly, fishing is not as extensive as it is in other games. You won’t be able to cast your line wherever you want. Still, there are plenty of fish to catch and there’s even a new questline centered around the activity. Here’s how to unlock fishing in Skyrim.

How to Unlock Fishing in Skyrim

To start fishing in Skyrim, you must first install the Fishing add-on from the Creation Club. This is a free add-on, even for those that don’t own the Anniversary Edition. Simply select Creation Club at the main menu and install the Fishing add-on from there.

Once it’s installed, you can start fishing at preset fishing spots throughout Skyrim. These spots are named “Fishing Supplies.” You’ll also need a fishing rod, but you can find one conveniently next to most fishing spots. You can also purchase them from most vendors, such as Belethor in Whiterun or Lucan Valerius in Riverwood.

There are Fishing Supplies all over the map, but you can find one in Riverwood at the start of the game. Just follow the road toward Whiterun and you’ll see it along the riverbank before reaching the stone bridge. Look for the rack of salmon.

How to Fish

Once you find some Fishing Supplies, just equip a fishing rod and interact with it to start fishing. Fishing is done from a fixed location, so you can’t move around. Press the interact button to cast your line. When you feel a strong bite, press the interact button again to reel in the fish.

The ripples on the water mean fish are present. If you don’t see any ripples, then there are no more fish left at that location. Also, don’t reel in your line as soon as you feel something. The fish like to nibble, so it can take a while before it’s safe to reel them in. Once you feel a strong pull, it’s time to reel.

If you reel in at the right time, you’ll catch the fish. There’s not much else to it. Fishing in Skyrim is incredibly simple. Finding the fish is the hard part, and that’s where the fishing questline comes in.

Starting the Fishing Quest in Skyrim

After catching your first fish, you’ll receive a new quest called Angler Acquaintances, which instructs you to visit the Riften Fishery to learn more about fishing. You can find it just outside the main gate of Riften. When you arrive, just head inside and talk to Swims-In-Deep-Water.

He’ll give you a list of fish to catch, and it’s up to you to find them all. At this point, all you have to do is explore Skyrim and catch as many fish as you can. Before you leave the Riften Fishery, you can also talk to Viriya outside to obtain another quest called In A Pinch, which tasks you with locating a juvenile mudcrab to fulfill a bounty.

But don’t worry, owners of the latest Skyrim game, which would be Skyrim: Special Edition, won’t have to shell out so much and can get an upgrade to their existing game. Here’s how.

If you’re unaware of what is happening with Skyrim, it has been 10 years since it originally came out on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. To celebrate that most glorious day, Bethesda is re-re-re-re-re-re-rereleasing (that’s 7 rereleases) The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. This time, it is fittingly titled the Anniversary Edition and will come equipped with 10 years worth of content.

How to Upgrade to Skyrim Anniversary Edition

Like previously mentioned, if your copy of Skyrim: Special Edition didn’t get lost in the move or get stolen by your little brother, you can upgrade to Skyrim: Anniversary Edition. This upgrade will cost you $19.99 instead of $49.99. It’s annoying and clearly a (hopefully) final cash grab by Bethesda for their most famous game, but there is a good amount of new features awaiting those who upgrade.

You can also choose not to upgrade to Skyrim: Anniversary Edition because both the Special Edition and the Anniversary Edition will be receiving free next-gen upgrades. Be warned, achievement or trophy progress will transfer between the two editions, but not if you get the free next-gen upgrade.

There are a notable amount of additions to the Anniversary Edition of Skyrim worth checking out. Especially if you haven’t played Skyrim before or it’s been a long time, there are three DLC packs called Dragonborn, Dawnguard, and Hearthfire. Dragonborn adds a huge new questline with a new island and new villains to fight. Dawnguard introduces the Fort Dawnguard, the crossbow, and vampirism. Hearthfire lets players build their own house, own pets, and have a family. And that is just the DLC included, I haven’t even talked about the base game or the new mods.

Also being added are Creation Club mods like fishing, survival mode, and alternate armor just to name a few. There will be armor and weapons from Morrowind and Oblivion as well as brand new questlines like Saints and Seducers. The base game of Skyrim is a treat, but with 10 years of content added on, it’s a smorgasbord.

For players on PC, Skyrim Anniversary Edition is going to cost about 12 GB worth of space. As far as modern games go, this is incredibly light and this will allow you to download it without much worry about needing to clear space. This will be the same requirement on the Playstation and Xbox versions as well, with less space being required if you just upgrade rather than buying the full game.

New Quests and Features

While you’ve probably played Skyrim before, this time around you’re going to be getting some shiny new graphics along with a bunch of new questlines and more importantly, the Survival Mode which takes a page out of modern survival games and makes you think about if you have enough food, are keeping warm and other new features that are similar to the modes presented in recent Fallout games.

Skyrim Anniversary Edition will likely satisfy the masses and for the first time players, they will get the definitive edition that provides 100’s of hours of adventure and despite it being 10 years old, the game holds up in many ways and this new version should make it feel even closer to modern games.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition: is it worth it? Skyrim was released ten years ago. Feel old yet? A lot has happened in those 10 years, and that goes for Skyrim content as well. If in 2011, you thought you’d seen all Skyrim had to offer after entering Sovngarde and killing Alduin, 2021 you has another thing coming. Whether you already own a copy of Skyrim and are looking for more or always wanted to try Skyrim but never had the opportunity, the Skyrim Anniversary Edition wraps loads of content from the past 10 years and delivers it to a new generation of gamers.

Skyrim has been released 7 times and is available on practically every console under the sun. The question of “is this new anniversary edition worth it?” is more than a fair one. I’ve probably bought Skyrim 3 times; what could possibly be in this new release that I don’t already have? Here are all the major changes and differences to expect.

Optional Upgrade

Right off the bat, you must know that for owners of Skyrim Special Edition, the latest release of Skyrim, Skyrim Anniversary Edition is an optional upgrade for any platform. This upgrade will include all of the updates to the core game, like graphics upgrades and the exciting new addition of fishing. Every game must have fishing.

Plus, the next-gen update will be absolutely free for PlayStation 4 to 5 and Xbox One to Series X|S. If owners of Skyrim Special Edition want all of the add-on content within Skyrim Anniversary Edition, there will be a currently unknown price associated with it. Our guess is somewhere along the lines of $39.99, as that is the target most remasters are aimed at these days.

Core Game and All DLC

With that out of the way, for all non-Skyrim owners looking for the perfect entry into the series, look no further. For starters, players will obviously have access to the entirety of Skyrim. Climbing to The Throat of the World, joining the College of Winterhold, or collecting every Dragon Priest mask are all things that await new Skyrim players.

Also, players will have access to every Skyrim DLC. This includes Dragonborn, Dawnguard, and Hearthfire, which all together add about 30 extra hours of gameplay to a 40+ hour game. These DLCs add entirely new areas to explore, new exciting quests, vampirism, and the ability to make your own home, along with so much more. If you’ve played through the original game of Skyrim and haven’t had a chance to play the DLC’s, then this is as good of a reason as any to do so.

Creation Club Mods

The other major addition to Skyrim: Anniversary Edition is 74 Creation Club Mods. Creation Club is the Bethesda-approved mods that officially get added to the game. These mods are available not only for PC but for consoles as well. Though many, many mods exist for Skyrim, most Creation Club mods cost credits. 48 of these mods are free and already available to Special Edition owners. With Anniversary Edition, players can expect those 48 free mods with the addition of 26 yet-to-be-announced new mods.

Some of the best existing Creation Club mods include new weapons, armor, spells, dungeons, bosses, and quests. There is even a Survival Mode mod that grants an additional challenge for players looking to test their mettle. There are over 500 special pieces that Creation Club mods have added to the game, making it even bigger and more fun.

Is Skyrim Anniversary Edition Worth It?

For fans questioning if the Skyrim Anniversary Edition is worth it, I would say this. If you own the latest edition of Skyrim, then all you are missing out on with Anniversary Edition is 26 new mods that will be available to the game. Take the new free update and, if you feel like you need the 26 new mods, then get the new edition.

If you are even remotely curious about Skyrim, never played it and want to, or lost your previous Skyrim discs, then there is no better release than Skyrim Anniversary Edition. To summarize everything stated previously, you will be receiving the best version of the entire core game, all the DLC expansions, and 74 Creation Club mods. A deal worth well over $120, I’d say that Skyrim Anniversary Edition is worth it for you.

Though not much is really being added to Skyrim Anniversary Edition, new fans can finally get their hands on one of the greatest RPG adventures ever created. With oodles of content for fans to feast on, as well as constant content readily available through Creation Club, hopefully, another Skyrim game won’t ever have to come out. As our eyes are set to Elder Scrolls VI and Bethesda’s newest IP Starfield, set to release this time next year, players can revel in this last love letter to Skyrim and continue to enjoy it for many years to come.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has finally arrived on Nintendo Switch. The game is just as big, open, and expansive as you always remember, and now you can take the experience on the go. On top of this, Skyrim for Nintendo Switch adds motion controls and amiibo support, but that second one is a little touch to figure out. So here’s a quick guide on how to use amiibo in Skyrim for Nintendo Switch.

You can’t just go tapping your amiibo to your Switch controller to unlock the goodies they provide. The key is to equip the amiibo magic ability within the Magic menu. To get here just hit B and press left to open the magic menu. The amiibo option is right at the top of the All option. Press A or either trigger to equip it, but the power will not go to either of your hands like many other magic abilities.

Instead amiibo just activates to the R button (above the right trigger). Press this to create a glowing circle on the ground. By tapping an amiibo to your controller you will unlock a randomized chest of goodies in this spot. Using Zelda amiibo have the chance of unlocking various Zelda themed items, so try to use those often.

Each amiibo can only be used once per 24 hours, no matter how much time has passed in the game. Load up Skyrim for Switch each day and scan in any amiibo you own to get as much out of them as possible.

Skyrim for Switch: Scanning Every Zelda amiibo

One of the big benefits of getting The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for Nintendo Switch is that the game features some exclusive items themed after The Legend of Zelda. We previously showed you how to unlock these items using amiibo, but this requires you to have a bunch of Zelda amiibo and use them often. There’s limitations on use, and the loot you get is random, so you only have a 20% chance of getting the special items. So, what do you do if you have no amiibo, or are just tired of trying over and over again? Well, here’s a quick guide on how to get Zelda items without amiibo in Skyrim for Switch.

Somewhere, hidden in the massive world of Skyrim is a chest that contains these elusive items. Where is this special chest? Well, that requires some spoilers, so be warned. If you have already played Skyrim before, or just don’t care about some minor location details, then keep on reading to find out how to get the Zelda items.

The chest full of Zelda items is in a chest at the top of the Throat of the World. This massive mountain plays a big part in the story of Skyrim, and you’ll encounter it during the main quest. The chest is right at the top of the mountain, so you’ll need to have the Clear Skies Dragon Shout unlocked. You’ll get this during the Throat of the World quest within the main story questline.

Just follow the main quest until you reach this point, gain the shout you need, and at the top of the mountain you should find the chest. Within it will be all of the exclusive Zelda items (UPDATE: Some players have not received all of the items, instead only getting two of them. It’s not clear how this works exactly.) that are unlocked by scanning amiibo. This should satisfy those fans that don’t own the Zelda amiibo, or just don’t want to rely on random chance.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for Nintendo Switch is a great game. The port is solid, and the added ability to take the game anywhere is simply fantastic. While the performance isn’t as polished as is seen on other platforms, the Switch handles the game surprisingly well. One of the few drawbacks is a bit of a cumbersome default control scheme, that can be confusing to players expecting something else. One thing that was frustrating was figuring out how to run in Skyrim for Switch, so here’s the answer…

Press L, which can be found above the left trigger (ZL). This is the default run button as set up in the menu. Of course, you can rebind this button as you see fit. Clicking the left thumbstick is often used for running, but in Skyrim it is instead crouch. It might be a good idea to swap these if you find the default options a bit off from what you’d expect.

Motion Controls. Ever since the Wii debuted they have been an obsession of Nintendo, and often a pain for their players. Sure, there have been some fantastic implementations of the feature, but there have been equally as many failures. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for Nintendo Switch sits somewhere in between, with motion controls adding something, but also bringing some added frustration to the mix. So, here’s how to turn motion controls off or on in Skyrim for Switch.

You might think that this option would be within the Controls settings, but you’d be wrong. That is instead simply where you can rebind keys (which is good since the default controls can be a little confusing). So, where can you go to turn on/off motion controls in Skyrim for Switch?

Gameplay is the key. Press + to bring up the menu, then ZR until you reach System. Select Gameplay and “Enable Motion Controls” will be right at the top. It is checked by default, so if you like motion controls in your Skyrim experience, you probably don’t have to do anything. Just grab some Joy-Con and go to town. But if you’re watching your character flail their sword around randomly and need it to stop, this is where you can make that happen.

Longtime players of the Elder Scrolls series know that some of the most enjoyable missions are in the Dark Brotherhood questline. While The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim wasn’t one of the best in the series, it still has some very intriguing quests that players will want to go through. With Skyrim Special Edition releasing, many players are wondering how to get into this elite order of assassins. We’re here to show you how to join the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim Special Edition.

The key to joining the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim lies in Windhelm. Before you go there though, it’s easiest if you trigger the quest that will lead you right to it. Head to any inn in Skyrim and ask for gossip, eventually you will hear about a boy in Windhelm named Aventus Aretino. Alternatively, you can go to the orphanage in Riften, Honorhall Orphanage. Here you will hear about Aventus and the dark things that he is trying to do, giving you the quest.

Aventus will tell you about the murder that he wishes for the Dark Brotherhood to commit. If you want to become a member, you’ll have to do the deed yourself. Head to Honorhall Orphanage and kill the woman there. 24 hours later you should receive the infamous “We know” note from the Dark Brotherhood.

Now all you have to do is go to sleep. Find a bed and use it, you will wake up having been abducted by the Dark Brotherhood. You will then be given a choice, destroy them by attacking Astrid, or do as she says and join them. While I usually play as a good character, the Dark Brotherhood is almost always too much fun to pass up. I highly recommend you do as she says and join the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim.

Skyrim Special Edition is out now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC leading to an influx of brand new players for the five year old game. While The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was hugely popular in its time, Skyrim Special Edition looks to still be adding a bunch of newbies anyway. So, with new players come a lot of old questions, and with everyone just starting out their adventures in Skyrim, the biggest on on everyone’s mind is how to level up fast in Skyrim Special Edition.

First, some notes. Leveling up fast in Skyrim Special Edition might seem enticing, but it can also impact the game in a number of ways. Most enemies are at fixed levels, so if you jump a ton of levels they will be super easy. You may enjoy this though. However, a few enemies, including some dragons, level up with you. This means that as you level up, they still remain a threat. Also, the way Skyrim has you leveling up, you need to focus on specific attributes in order to boost that stat. We’ve broken down this guide into those specific stats with a tip for how to level it up fast. Some of these require other things, so if you have any questions, let us know in the comments.

How to Level Up Fast in Skyrim Special Edition

Magic:
First up are the Magic stats, be sure to go to set the Mage Stone as active if you’ve discovered that location. If you’re married, you’ll also want to sleep with your wife to trigger an XP bonus. If you’re not, check out this guide on how to get married in Skyrim Special Edition.

Illusion: Once you have the Muffle spell (buy it from Farengar at Dragonsreach in Whiterun) simply use it constantly. It should always be active on your character. If you run out of Magicka just wait an hour or so to refill it.

Alteration: Obtain the Detect Life spell through any of a number of ways (check the shop at Winterhold). Find a highly populated area, such as an Inn, and cast the spell. Do this until you run out of Magicka, then head to a bed and rest. Just repeat this process.

Restoration: Head to the Labyrinthian Chasm to obtain the Equilibrium spell. This deals damage to yourself. Set your healing spell on your other hand and cast both over and over again, making sure not to kill yourself.

Destruction: This one requires you to be a little mean. Do the Dark Brotherhood questline to the point where you can purchase a Torture Chamber. Then you can use Destruction magic spells against the prisoners there. Be sure not to kill them, using healing spells if necessary. Repeat this process.

Conjuration: Obtain the Soul Trap spell. Once you have it, just find some random, wild animal. Kill it, then continue to cast Soul Trap on its dead body.

Enchanting: The only real trick here, other than constantly enchanting weapons, is to find a weapon that can trap souls on its own, along with Azura’s Star (a soul gem that will not disappear upon use). Killing animals and enemies with the weapon will recharge Azura’s Star, which you can keep using to recharge your weapon.

Combat:
Be sure to head back to the stones and select the Warrior Stone.

One-handed and two-handed weapons: Complete the Dark Brotherhood questline and you’ll get Shadowmere, an invincible horse. Now you can just spam attacks against him with whichever type of weapon you want to level up.

Light and Heavy armor: These also just require constant use. If you want, find a giant or a guard tower, somewhere where you can take a ton of damage in a relatively short amount of time. Keep an eye on your health, equip the armor you want to level up, and start taking punches.

Smithing: There are a few ways to do this one. My favorite is to use Iron Ingot and Leather Strips to creat as many Iron Daggers as you can, selling them off and using the proceeds to buy more Iron and Leather. You can also kill a bunch of animals to get leather, using just that to make Hide Bracers. Just craft as many small, easy to make items as you can and your smithing ability should level up fast. However, this was nerfed by an update at some point. It’s still helpful, but not nearly as much.

Thief:
Activate the Thief Stone for these.

Sneak: Find large groups of people, then sneak around them. Some might notice you, but the ones that don’t will feed your XP for your Sneak stat.

Lockpicking/Pickpocket: Another one of those that has little trickery to it. To level these up just do them as often as possible. For pickpocket, maybe focus on cheaper items.

Archery: Another one where Shadowmere is helpful. Just fire as many iron arrows at him as you can. It’s OK, he can’t die.

Alchemy: Become a hoarder. Every flower or other ingredient that you see, pick it up. Head to an alchemy table and create as many cheap potions as possible.

Hopefully this helps you out in your quest to level up fast in Skyrim Special Edition. The game has been out for a while, and updates change some stuff. Skyrim Special Edition is bringing back a whole lot of memories for the five year old title. One of the things that many gamers looked forward to the most was the ability to get married in the game. Of course, with a game as big as Skyrim Special Edition, simply figuring out how this works is somewhat of a chore. Luckily the process has remained unchanged in the intervening five years. All you need to get married in Skyrim Remastered is the Amulet of Mara. This necklace will betroth you to one of your companions. Of course, they need to be at least somewhat interested in you. To get them there, you’ll want to pay attention to them. Bring them along on your adventures (if they are a companion), talk to them often, and eventually almost any companion should show some interest.

The list of who you can marry, and what needs to be done to get them interested is extremely long. The best option is to choose who you’re interested in and actually talk to them a lot, this should give you an idea of who is available, and what you might have to do.

Anyway, once you have your mate prepared, you need that Amulet of Mara. You can find it randomly, or just head to Riften. Here you’ll find the Temple of Mara, and Maramel who you can purchase the Amulet from for 200 gold. Once you have it, just equip it to your character and speak with the person you wish to marry. If you’ve got a chance there will be a new conversation option to ask them if they are interested.

Head back to the Temple of Mara in Riften and you can start setting up the wedding. Go through with all the requirements and you will have your Skyrim Special Edition marriage all set up. If you want to back out and get a divorce later on you’ll need to do some pretty bad stuff. The only way out is to kill your spouse, so make sure you choose well the first time around.
