One of the original selling points of Pokémon GO when it first launched in 2016 was the AR, or augmented reality, component of it. When trying to catch a Pokémon, you could see it standing in the real world and even take pictures of it. Now, a new feature is coming to the game that will expand on this.
It was recently revealed that a new feature called GO Snapshot is coming to the mobile game soon. With this feature, players will be able to position and take pictures of any of the Pokémon they’ve caught, rather than just being limited to taking pictures of ones they are currently trying to catch. Once this feature roles out, players will obtain a Camera item, which can be found in their in-game bags. Selecting the Camera will allow you to choose a Pokémon from your storage and place it in the real world. Once placed, the player can walk around trying to get the best angle and getting the Pokémon’s attention if moving around causes it to be looking off in the wrong direction. Pictures taken in this mode will be saved to the player’s device and can also be shared on social media.
