The first gameplay footage from Pokemon GO may have been now been revealed via a presentation that was held at SXSW. It was taken off-screen, but it could be our best look at the actual gameplay for the game so far.

This footage was reportedly taken at SXSW while Niantic Labs CEO, John Hanke, gave a presentation on “The Future of AR Is Already in Your Pocket”. Bear in mind, we cannot confirm the validity of the video so we’re categorizing this as a rumor for now. Still, it’s decent looking even if it is fake.

From the video, we can see a little bit of the supposed gameplay footage of Pokemon GO. It appears the game will be different from the older Pokemon games that fans have come to know and love. As you can see, you are a trainer that has to catch a Bulbasaur. You can use your smartphone to try and throw the Pokeball at the Bulbasaur so that you can catch it and keep it for yourself. There are other special Pokeballs in your arsenal that can make it easier for you to catch more Pokemon.

This should only be a small part of the gameplay in Pokemon GO. It’s likely you could do more with the game other than just catching Pokemon all of the time. It’s a mobile only game so don’t be too disappointed if it strays too far away from the original games.

There’s no release date for the game yet, but it’s planned to be out on Android and iOS later this year. Over 21 million people watched the debut trailer so a lot of people are looking forward to it.
