Unless you’re a pesky little korok seed hiding underneath a Hyrulean rock, you’ve probably heard of a pretty important game called PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. After smashing records all over the place since its release, the multiplayer Battle Royale game has now become the most concurrently played Steam game in the services entire 13-year-long history.
Smashing Dota 2 out of the top spot, as it already did to the extremely popular MOBA in the top current concurrent charts, PUBG has annihilated the competition by roughly 50,000 players.
Dota 2’s all-time record, according to Steamcharts, rests at a more-than-impressive 1,291,328 players–Jesus!–whereas PUBG has moved ahead with a gargantuan 1,349,584. That’s a lot of players, like, a hell-of-a-lot.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ hype train doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon as it makes its way over to console sometime this winter as a timed exclusive on Microsoft’s Xbox One, with support for the upcoming Xbox One X.
With porting being handled by Bluehole themselves in a collaboration with Microsoft to get the best available version of the game available on console, PUBG could be one of the biggest success stories in video games since the original Doom by id Software back in the late nineties.
As the Steam version continues to grow and the Xbox One version coming just over the horizon–supposedly with some sort of optional cross-play mode–now seems like the perfect time to hop into PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds if you haven’t already.
